Comrade 86 Posted Wednesday at 22:15 Share Posted Wednesday at 22:15 The Phantom of the Open: Mark Rylance as watchable as ever playing Maurice Flitcroft, the guerrilla golfing legend. A touching, gentle and endearing outing and well worth a watch. Wolfie Posted Thursday at 08:36 Share Posted Thursday at 08:36 Hit Man (Cinema & Netflix) Geeky college lecturer (Glen Powell) helps the police unmask and arrest people trying to hire hit men by pretending to be one - then falls for one of the women (Adria Arjona) who wants him to deal with her controlling husband. Loosely based on a true story. Darkly comic, well scripted & pretty original. I found the ending quite unsatisfying though - which is odd, as that is the bit that was made up and therefore could have been better. Not bad. 6/
DarkFruitsRam7 Posted Thursday at 18:53 Share Posted Thursday at 18:53 Godzilla Minus One (Netflix). A former kamikaze pilot spends the whole movie trying to make up for a moment of cowardice that cost many lives. Never seen a Godzilla movie before, but this was a very human story that just happens to have Godzilla in it. Very good. Colin Kazim-Richards / 10. Now you can have AI allow you to speak in whatever language you want, without needing an actor to dub the voice. So the Japanese actors in this film could simply speak in English. Here's an AI teacher who can't speak Hindi, speaking Hindi! https://www.linkedin.com/posts/emollick_hows-my-hindi-following-up-on-the-fake-activity-7149084946807062528-ktWP/ [In fact the whole vid is a deep fake but it doesn't need to be] Meanwhile, I feel I have to watch the film (with subtitles for now, obvs). Planned to watch it when it originally came out but never got around to it. Will try to watch it over the weekend. 👍

It's awful - not because you may understand little of the dialogue, but because the voices they give the actors are usually incongruous. You want Clint Eastwood to sound like Clint Eastwood, not an Italian. Comrade 86, Anag Ram and Jubbs

Wolfie Posted yesterday at 07:48 Share Posted yesterday at 07:48 The Invitation American woman appears to be the long lost relative of a massively wealthy english family and is invited to join them in their huge gothic mansion for wedding celebrations. Mildly amusing if lightweight vampire story. Looks OK & acting OK (always good to see Sean Pertwee). Annoyed me with the fakery every time they showed exterior shots of the mansion, as it's obviously a big american house. Even their Rolls Royce is left hand drive. OK if you like this sort of thing. 5/
