Liam Rosenior

Just wanted to post something that I had been thinking about for a while and wished to have a conversation about.

I am sure that Liam Rosenior was bought to Derby County Football club by Philip Cocu as a tactical analysist. Can someone please tell me (If I am right) what is the point of him being at this club. I haven’t seen Derby set up in a tactical way to beat anyone on a field for a long time !

I mean, he’s a first team coach, he’s not an analyst for one. Secondly, there’s no telling really how good or not he is at his job looking in from the outside. We can only really see the end result from the Manager on the pitch, not the work behind the scenes of coaches working on training players, working on the tactics board etc. So there’s no real way of us judging how much of a positive contribution he’s making. Only Cocu will see enough to make that judgement, and he obviously trusted him enough to have him on his team.

I was under the impression he was to help the new coaching team understand the division and English football in general. My understanding was it was something Cocu had felt had not helped him in Turkey and was felt might be a helpful addition to the staff. That's my take from the summer, happy to be wrong on that mind.

Impossible to say if he's giving good advice, bad advice, being listened to, being ignored, having too much of an impact on decisions (setting up to stop the oppo?) or not enough (not exploiting the oppo's weaknesses?).

Impossible to know from the outside. Now, if anyone has some unfounded salacious gossip from twitter or someone who knows something at the club they want to add to the forum...

Very bizarre to me why he, out of all the staff currently at the club, is continuously being questioned like this.

Could I point you in the direction of our recruitment team instead? ?

I think because in lemans terms he came in under the guise of “championship specialist”

and we’re not very specialist in the championship right now ?

Whilst I don’t disagree, I think it’s fair to say the coaching staff aren’t getting the most out of any of the players

You could but, hasn't there been numerous posts already questioning the recruitment teams ability and our policy?

It seems to be wrong at both ends. We don't seem to be very good at spotting and recruiting decent talent on a consistent basis (recruitment team) and we don't seem to be getting as much as we should from the players we have (coaching staff).
