Unlike Premier League rules - which automatically forbid a player from facing his parent club regardless - EFL regulations stipulate that for a loanee to feature against his parent club in the League Cup, an agreement in writing must be agreed with the Football League.

Looks doubtful.

Surely Chelsea aren't afraid of 2 of their 40 loanees, a couple of kids, coming back to play against them? In fact, they might prefer it as it gives them the chance to see, first hand, how the pair are getting in. Come on Roman - you know it makes sense.

That's what I'm thinking. Surely one of the best ways to find out if mount is as good/better than some of the midfielders (loftus cheek, Barkley etc) is by going against them toe to toe? I fully expect them to be ineligible, it would be an absolute media storm if we beat them with mount and tomori in the side, and especially if one of them scores, but there is a small chance.

How tinpot have we become if everyone seems to be panicking that we can’t play two young loanees in a bloody league cup match. Jeez get a grip you lot.  We have  a squad of 30 plus. In other news we couldn’t beat a poor Bolton team today with all our options available.
