It definitely has a different taste to normal Guinness but I found it very enjoyable. Eddie

1of4
Due to the forthcoming increase in tax on premium strength beers, I may have to change my drinking habits. Along with their tax being reduced, I may have to start looking at drinking more fizzy wines. Will this mean me becoming a champagne socialist? Steve How Hard?
Found this variation of Guinness today. Not as good as the Nigerian version imho but definitely not the worst drink I've had. Edited October 29, 2021 by Steve How Hard?

Not as good as the Nigerian version imho but definitely not the worst drink I've had. Went on honeymoon to St Lucia, one day the hotel arranged a picnic for a day out, including some bottles of locally produced Guinness, and a few bottles of the Piton local lager. Safe to say, the Guinness was heavy enough to make the rest of the basket redundant! Food and drink in one bottle, who says Caribbeans don't save time when they can. Definitely makes the 'not too shabby' list, unlike St Peter's Plum Porter, which is not a patch on the Titanic version. Cheers for the heads up though. ?? May Contain Nuts

Are you confusing this with Guinness Foreign Extra which is brewed and available in all the countries that were once part of the Empire and is 7.5% and meant to be chilled. I’ve knocked back quite a few Foreign Extra in The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Malaysia, Barbados and India over the years. West Indies Porter is brewed from a Guinness recipe from 1801 and the alcohol content is 6%. Although from a similar root, it’s a very different drink from Foreign Extra. Oh dear that tells me an awful lot about you. Sad really. So I’ll set it out in bullet point so you’ll perhaps understand:- 1 Guinness West Indies Porter. Brewed to a 1801 recipe. 6%. Re-brewed a few years ago. There is no Nigerian brewed version, there are no versions, just the original. 2 Guinness Foreign Extra Stout. Brewed originally for troops and ex pats in the colonies. 7.5% (but 8% in Malaysia). Extra hopped for the long sea journey. Now brewed in most Commonwealth countries either by Guinness if there’s a Guinness brewery in the country (like Guinness Ghana) or by a local brewery under licence. Out of interest, all beer brewed in Nigeria contains sorghum and officianados claim to be able to tell the difference with the Nigerian Guinness Foreign Extra because of sorghum. I can’t. I’m just finishing a glass of Guinness Foreign Extra from Zambia. Chilled. Very smooth.

I never described it as a Nigerian Porter but a variation of Guinness so all your efforts are wasted really but thanks anyway. You've made an argument out of nothing. Are you related to my ex missus? Take your own advice and keep up in future. Good evening. Edited November 5, 2021 by Steve How Hard?
