New Club Website

Derby County is delighted to announce that it has partnered with Purpose Media to build the club’s new official website from the summer of 2017 – and supporters are being asked to play their part.

Derby will exit the EFL Digital network – which was launched in the early 2000s - at the end of June 2017, and the new website will be launched at the beginning of July.

Purpose Media is an award-winning full service digital agency. It specialises in e-commerce web design, digital marketing, creative design, video production, content marketing and PR.

It is the current developer of WeAreDerby.com, the club’s online ticketing and hospitality platform, and following a lengthy consultation process with a number of potential partners, the club has commissioned Purpose Media to create its new digital platforms.

This will include the new-look official website and mobile platform and, as well as being the first place for Derby County news, features, interviews and ticket stories, the club is determined to provide a whole new online experience for fans.

The club wants supporters to be involved in the process of building the new official website and other digital platforms from the word go, in order to provide feedback over the coming months.

Being involved in the project will vary from fan to fan, but the aim is to ask those willing to participate to feature in focus groups, online surveys and beta testing.

The project will be ongoing throughout the 2016/17 season ahead of next summer’s launch and, as mentioned above, there will be different levels of feedback required from fans, depending on their use of the website.

Fans can register their interest to participate by following this link: http://www.wearederby.com/fan-registration-form

Derby County’s President & Chief Executive Sam Rush said: “We are delighted to be able to partner with Purpose Media for this ground-breaking project.

“The club website has been outside the clubs control for over 16 years, in which time digital technologies have transformed the way we all live our lives. By creating a brand new up-to-date digital platform, we will not only be able to take advantage of some of these technologies we will also be able to provide our supporters with a much improved online experience.”

Derby County’s Brandon Furse, who is leading the Digital Project, said: “Purpose Media were our number one choice. Since working with them over the past three years we have built an excellent working relationship and they have certainly delivered results. For example, when we first launched our new online ticketing platform, designed by Purpose Media, our online ticket sales rocketed.

“This new project is about the website becoming the number one place that all supporters go to find out what they want across all areas of Derby County.

“We are asking our supporters to get involved and help shape this platform right from the very beginning – and I can’t wait for us to deliver together.”

Purpose Media’s managing director Matt Wheatcroft said: “We’re incredibly proud to be working with Derby County Football Club on the new website. We’ve seen some fantastic results with the WeAreDerby site and have a great relationship with the club, so the next step is to build on that and create something truly special.

“Moving from the EFL digital network means that Derby will get a more flexible and distinctive site that’s tailored for their fans. We know that one size doesn’t fit all, so we’ll be designing and building a website that works specifically for the Derby staff and support.”

Could they incorporate some sort of verbal abuse functionality where, for a premium (naturally), website visitors can click on a player and offer them live constructive criticism, 24hrs a day, direct to the ears of the underperforming individual? I mean, what if Bradly Johnson was unaware that his touch vs Brighton was not up to premier league standard ? I suspect that some fans feel their points of dissatisfaction get lost amongst the cheering ipro crowd and would willingly be fleeced.

Of course, all audio feeds would be covertly redirected to a speaker hidden under kenny burns belly.

Now we just need them to sort out a seperate app for RamsPlayer. The Football League app is atrocious.

What's wrong with the football league app? It's always worked perfectly for me in terms of commentary and developer responsiveness. Much better than the one from 2 or 3 years ago.

Rams player will stay as its a seperate product to the website hosted seperately.

The app is ok but sometimes struggles to reconnect if you are moving around. The time it takes to start the stream is too long on the app and on the website. Both have the issue that they lag behind the actual radio by a good 30 secs or so....the stream is not 100% realtime which is a bit annoying when you are dominating Carlisle in a 14-13 penalty shootout .

yes the current website is poor, glitches on resolving via mobile/tablet devices and is not really unique content, I would have preferred a DCFC fan develop the project which would add some character and be less robotic and more passion, I would also include the megastore on the same URL.

A games area for the kids (and all the sad oldies that play them) which is the best way to get the kids hooked to the club at an early stage, the club's future etc. A games area that includes Derby County's mascots Rammie & Ewie getting up to all sorts of fun, challenges, learning areas, reading areas, comics and books online that educate the kids about the club,it's history, it's future, the community, culture, English, Maths etc an educational area, that helps develop children of all ages and gets them hooked to our football club, Derby County Football Club.

A boo-ometer? You boo in to your microphone and the loudest boo-er goes on to a leaderboard. A couple can even win a free season ticket, just so we can get some more booing into the ground.

If it's based upon a number of boos into the microphone then taking the average, can I be the loudest boozer please?

The contracts gone to the same people as the wearederby website....which is also terrible to navigate. Certain options only appearing when you're logged in....and there's no login button!

Fairly ordinary site looks like it was put together by students. Can only assume they're cheap!
