Maybe it's me here being naive but he was injured Saturday afternoon, am I right in saying he was on the bench for the rest of the game so didn't go straight to hospital?

Now even if he went straight to Bolton hospital after the game, I would have thought he would need to be scanned, then see a specialist maybe a couple of times and even operated on before any length of time being out was given?

When Thorne did his it took a club a while before announcing how long he was out for, I don't believe this was to help shirt sales, or saved for a slow news day, it takes time before being able to give an accurate length of time out.

Like I say, maybe I'm being naive here, straight to hospital, scan, you're out for a year lad sorry, operate in the morning get your mum round to pick you up in the afternoon, we'll stick you on crutches and get yourself comfy in front of the tv. Texts the boss to let him know, the club keep it quiet for a bit, saving it for a slow news day with a real click baity link on social media with #GetWellSoonWill

Take your point. Often i'll be an MRI scan and even keyhole to fully assess what the damage is.

Hughes replacement??? get one of the lads from the 21s

I like the look of Callum Guy, I reckon he could hold his own for a few months whilst Hughes/Bryson are out

Hi, Callum.

We will know very soon I would have thought. If the knee was swollen over the weekend they would wait for it to settle down before the specialist could give an accurate assesment. The news we have at the minute might be the player himself feeling low assuming the worst and confiding in people who have put it out. Fingers crossed because we are due a bit of luck with injuries.

Thorne took two days to be announced. Played and injured 22nd July, announced 24th.

Just as an aside, I have to remember those dates for other reasons than George Thorne, I'm not that sad.

Don't quote me getting all factual, I swear it was longer with people moaning about not hearing anything

Hughes will need an MRI scan and then some consultant will have to assess it and then other people will have to assess how long to rectify it. There is little point in announcing something, getting it wrong and having to correct it later.

Didn't go to hospital after the game either, Daveo, got on the team bus.

We asked Keogh how he was and he said they would have to wait for him to have a scan to know. Didn't sound like there was a mad panic to get him to a specialist.  Doesn't mean it's not going to be bad news though.

Exactly, I wouldn't expect anything until about today as usually with these kinds of things it takes a day or so for the swelling to go down. There might be worries that he's out for 12 months, but I can't see that already being confirmed by anyone.

The last time I saw something like that one though was with a young Brisbane player, similar sort of look to the injury. He went straight to the hospital, everyone was talking about it being 12 months, possibly even career threatening... then he was fine, a minor injury, was back in a couple of weeks, played brilliantly the rest of the season, now a key player for them.

I'm not saying that's what's happened here, but it's worth just being calm and waiting. Trust that he'll get the best of treatment if it comes to that, and that the club have contingency plans in that case.

guessing at bryson out for 4-6 weeks and Hughes 9-12 months

What are these guesses based on? scan pictures or Channel 5 highlights Dr Shuff? or is it a combination of numbers from your username.

4-6 That'll do for Bryson, nobody will notice I'm going backwards

6+4+2=12, 'kin ell Hughes is out for 12 months!

dawkins was a cracking distraction from all the negativity last season so I expect him to be a perfect fit for hughes, come on dawks you can do it mate !!!!

Whilst this is a possibility I think he'd have to up his game considerably if he's going to get anywhere near to filling Will's shoes. There's no doubt he has ability but his decision making has to become more consistent and he'd have to work harder than he's ever worked before, particularly if we're sticking with the diamond formation.
