Raul Albentosa

This lad has a serious work ethic. SD eibar manager commented on it saying that he was the ultimate professional and that he was always first into training ... And if you read his comments he states over and over that he is going to work harder than ever for Derby ... I liked his comment that he's not here because he wants to be in the prem league, he's here because he wants to play for Derby - great attitude and Chris Evans referenced it too.

The person I was chatting to yesterday who knows him since he was a kid said that he had always had that attitude. Said that he would even go in to train during the summer when everyone else was off to the beach, which he had only 20 minutes away!

The defender's former club posted on Twitter on Thursday evening: "Raul Albentosa has paid today the termination clause of his contract and ceases to belong to the SD Eibar." bbc

If you read the story on dcfc website it actually says something along the lines of "signed today after leaving Eibar earlier in the week"

They're not selling in.

He has triggered a buy out of his contract.

Nowt to do with debt.

Foreign teams have buy out clauses to quickly wipe out debts from the clubs. Which is why Reus' is only 20 million, why David Villa's was only around 30 million when he was at Valencia. Buy out clauses makes the process of selling a player quicker and more efficient

No, they don't.  Spanish clubs are required by law to put release clauses like this in players contracts.  The reason players have low clauses is because their own clubs have failed to anticipate how good they will become. Either that, or the player was in a strong enough bargaining position when the contract was signed to insist on it.  There's absolutely no advantage to a club having a buyout clause, it just limits the amount of money they can get for the player.  And if anything, it makes it harder to push deals through if the clause is actually being used - Albentosa being a prime example.

Nothing to do with debt.
