With 2 games left it might be interesting to see what happens, methinks we might do a short term deal like with kalifa Cisse....

I guess it depends what Steve thinks his future holds as a player with us, if we go up, maybe nothing, if we stay in the Champs he may stay ?

Tis a conundrum

DERBY County loan defender Zak Whitbread is to be released by Leicester City.

Whitbread's contract is up next month and the Foxes have confirmed they will not be offering him a new deal.

The centre-back is on loan with the Rams until the end of the season and was an unused substitute in Thursday night's Championship play-off semi-final first leg at Brighton.

Among those also released by Leicester are midfielder Neil Danns, who is joining Bolton Wanderers, and defender Sean St Ledger.

St Ledger on his day can be a good defender. I know he hasn't played much for Leicester recently, but when I saw him for Ireland - he looked a class act.

Kept Keogh out the team too.

Please god no!! He is awful and belongs in league 1 at best

DERBY County have agreed one-year deals with defenders Zak Whitbread and Lee Naylor.

Whitbread is a free agent after being released by Leicester City at the end of last season.

The 30-year-old made four appearances while on loan at Derby last season and was seen as cover for the central defensive pairing of Richard Keogh and Jake Buxton.

Naylor, also a free agent, joined the Rams on a short-term deal in February as cover for left-back Craig Forsyth.

Naylor, 34, was used four times as a substitute.

Both players are expected to start pre-season training today.

The squad will undergo fitness testing at the University of Derby over the next two days.
