Not sure I can get too sanctimonious about Rooney's so-called behaviour, given that at least one of the female participants seems to have deliberately targeted him, in order to further her "career" as an Instagram influencer.
I just think he's a bit silly to be relaxing in public after a long hard day at work. Probably been up since 5 am, had little to eat and a drink too many. Not entirely sure what else he has done wrong, tbh. As for those girls, as @David said "Ugh"!

I would agree with all apart from Baldock. I would swap with Aluko. He has shown something we havent had in a while, the ability to take someone on. I think worse case scenario from this, Aluko or Lawerence could play upfront if CKR or Stretton are unavailable.

It's worrying how we are a week away with no central defenders or idea what our team will be.

It surely has to be? Jagielka would be my first pick for sure. We need to sign him before the start of season if no one else.

We need to get Jagielka snapped up quickly. He’s absolutely still got it, he was superb tonight. I can imagine there are a few clubs who sat up and took notice of him last night after that performance. Paul Cook will be working overtime today trying to convince him to sign for Ipswich

Hopefully we can wrap up deals for Jagielka and Morrison soon, before others come along for them.

I like Jack Stretton. He’s a hard working striker, with good control, can run with the ball, and has an eye for goal. In his first-year as a professional last season, after graduating from the Academy, he was prolific at the start of the U23 season. Like all players at that age, he has areas he needs to work on, but after stepping up from the U18s, in a short space of time he overtook Cameron Cresswell, Bobby Duncan and Jahmal Hector-Ingram which is credit to him.
He had a good, short loan spell at Stockport County where he scored three goals in five appearances.
Of course, none of that guarantees anything, I remember Callum Ball being prolific for Derby County reserves but being unable to establish himself in the first-team under Nigel Clough.
It’s a shame Stretton hit the woodwork in one of his early substitute appearances for the first-team. Had he scored instead, the goal would have done wonders for his confidence.
Footbal365 have listed Stretton in their 10 young Championship players to watch out for this season:
A calf injury, following his return from Stockport County, prevented him playing in the run-in last season and a muscle strain has kept him out of the pre-season friendlies but, I believe, he returned to training this week.
Stretton looks a natural goal scorer at U23 level but it’s a big step-up to Championship level against streetwise defenders and he has work to do to prove he can score goals on a regular basis at this level.

Personably I thought Morrison looks better in a more central role where he gets on the ball more and can pick passes. Problem was he was doing a better job covering the left than when He switched with Lawrence. I can only surmise he’s a better player than Lawrence in either position.

Jags, Morrison and Carrol should be signed. Aluko as a back up. Not convinced Baldock is the answer up front. We need someone in the mold of CKR but a bit younger, a bit more mobile and can score more goals.

All in all it was great to be back at Pride Park watching some football and winning!

I have my doubts that he is suddenly going to turn his career around now.
This is his very last chance. He'll be playing in a very good league. Much better than Mexico or Holland or wherever he's been. This is a great opportunity for him. If Rooney can't get him playing, I don't think anyone will. This is it.
From what I've seen he looks a good player. I don't know how to describe it, but he's got that thing that many footballers don't. That flair on the ball, that intelligence. From only 2 games I can see it in him.
If he can just sort himself out and we can get him on the pitch, we'll have a top player in this league no doubt about it.
I'm willing to give him a chance.

A good thread posted by Chris Coles on Twitter in the last few minutes with updates as to where the club are at with the embargo, HMRC, EFL etc.

Well done Chris Coles as others have said. There needed to be some clarity as the vacuum created just allowed negative speculation from media looking for angles to generate clicks, and doomsters to propagate doom.
We’ll see what assurances Mel gives in the meeting (if any) but positive he is willing to engage with the fans again.
We’re still in a bad position this close to the season starting but it’s positive that the club are working hard behind the scenes to resolve the issues with the EFL (which seems to be the main issue now). Looks like we’re going to pay HMRC and Mel continues to stand behind the club for the time being, as he should as club custodian but also as I expected him to do.
Im reassured, but this won’t be enough for some people.
