I think the meeting has been called partly to try and fulfil DCFC's 'obligations' to listen to their fans and engage with them and address the concerns felt by loyal fans who only want what is best for the club and to reassure the fans that their voices have been heard and listened to and to make them feel part of the 'ownership' of the club and therefore more confident and reassured about how the club is being managed and moving forward. This kind of approach is common in every kind of business (including schools) and it's a very good approach as long as it's not just a public exercise to placate people and make them feel involved without actually listening and reacting to their genuine concerns and suggestions. We had to do this as a school to ascertain parents' opinions about any perceived strengths and weaknesses but then we always had to draw up an action plan which we were held to scrupulously by the Governers and OFSTED.
I'm not very savvy on these matters but I doubt that the club will share any sensitive information at this meeting. I think they will be very careful not to leak sensitive information which could affect the club going forward and rightly so. Some information will be given freely, some less confidential information will be subject to NDA and some will will not be disclosed at all where there is a risk of damaging takeovers etc.
Just read the above and it sounds cynical but that was never my intention. This is the way that organisations work and I just hope that our representatives are not only listened to but that the club begins to act on their and our concerns as soon as possible wherever they can. I am optimistic that this is not just a PR exercise.
Good luck, David for tonight. Look forward to reading your feedback and thanks.

It's sad that the first game of the season is looking like being a quiet one attendance wise, but it will be interesting to see what the attendance is like at other clubs generally.

I'm not concerned that you're not concerned about about my views.
Maybe @David wouldn't be content (I've think he's said as much) and that's fine. What I am saying though is to insist on NDA's isn't an insult, isn't a sign of contempt and isn't a loss of credibility.
The way I see it, assuming there are some sensitive answers Mel wants to give that aren't quite ready for public disclosure or debate, he had three choices:
    1) Continue to keep us completely in the dark
    2) Hold a public Q&A but avoid any sensitive issues
    3) Hold a confidential Q&A with a small group of representatives who, cannot disclose full details of the answers, but may be able to give some comfort to the wider public fan base.
Whilst not ideal, option three sounds like the best and doesn't sound like an insult, sign of contempt or loss of credibility to me.
Which would you choose if full disclosure to every one (it would soon be all over social media) is off the table the moment?

Anyone that has had to sign an NDA knows that it's never taken as a sworn affidavit of secrecy. In this situation, I doubt Derby would even be willing to take their own fans to court over things they've said in this meeting, for example. It's just a document that is put in place that, I believe, makes people mindful of something that would be said in meeting, perhaps about the EFL and/or others, that would be inflammatory. Of course, they could just keep a lid on those types of comments and avoid a NDA but as people will be in a mood and I'd imagine a very sour mood then it's just to make sure the club are protected.
Everyone knows this meeting is taking place and everyone knows the meeting minutes will be available in the near future. I wouldn't build the NDA up to be something more than it is.

Half fan - we're only going for top one. None of thus scrapping for second place
Hardly shocking with Covid is it. Just because some people think the risk has totally disappeared doesn't mean everybody does. I'm sure many older fans will still stay away from large crowds like this.

Got my tickets, proper buzzing to be able to go with my Dad and get behind the lads again. Hopefully everyone can put off-field matters aside during the game and be the 12th man like we used to!

I've just had a look at the ticket prices on the club's website and not cheap....I'm really torn whether to go or not irrespective of whether we sign any players or not between now and Saturday....went to both the Salford and Notts County games and the way we played was almost a carbon copy of how we were set up last season by Rooney, passing the ball to death for no effect other than to keep possession, no forward penetration or attacking intent just a very suffocating brand of football.
We won yesterday which was good and we had a very young team out but the style of play first half especially was truly soporofic.
Wonder how many "floaters" also feel the same way.
Anyhow still a few days left to see how my mind is before I decide.

    Derby County v Huddersfield Town
    Saturday 7th August
    3pm Kick Off
Available on RamsTV (outside the UK)
Go on then, I'll get the season started.
With just over a week to go, several departures from a thin squad and 0 arrivals, it obviously hasn't be the most ideal pre seasons.
Thankfully the players that we're looking to sign have been involved in pre season and bonding with the squad, we're not just looking at dragging players in with a week to train before playing.
"Unprecedented times" will hopefully no longer be heard and we are able to get through the season without seeing any new restrictions coming in, the club desperately needs the uninterrupted match day revenue back running through the tills.
Team for Huddersfield? Difficult to say until we see what trialists are given contracts and the EFL approve, seems wild that the game as I say is just over a week away and we couldn't even guess a starting 11, but he we are.
Buckle up boys and girls, this season will be a battle. ?

I've been party to several NDAs, indeed am under one currently at work.  I get all the cries of consternation but I have no doubt the detail of the meeting will be available very shortly afterward.  I suspect that, due to the nature of the questions to be raised, and the delicate position we're clearly in with the EFL, HMRC and prospective buyer (who may have requested this as part of their own NDA), DCFC want, and need, to protect themselves whilst trying to (finally) have some form of communication with fans.
Whilst perhaps, at face value it's disappointing for us fans, it's a pretty common practise.
@david thanks for representing us and good luck.

    Ha maybe!
In fairness though, I do understand where those that are angry are coming from.
When I received the email, I questioned it immediately, looked for assurances, took me by surprise.
I asked was it not possible for the meeting to take place without the NDA, and only share information that could be shared.
I was given assurances that this would be like any other meeting. It’s just the paperwork side which as I say, protects us and themselves and might not even be called into use.
So I signed it and returned. Not entirely comfortably as I knew if this got out we would see the reaction we are seeing now.
Shortly after it did, leaked on to Twitter which I am hugely disappointed by as it didn’t give us as a group the opportunity to question it further prior to the meeting tonight.
It’s been difficult the past 24hrs as I have been contacted several times, I’ve been careful not to confirm or deny until a conversation had taken place with the club tonight.
Feels like I may have lied, however everything I have said is true in that I have been given assurances this will be like another meeting we have been part of several times before now.
I do get it though, every Derby fan would love to be in that room tonight, I am very fortunate to be invited due to this forum.
It’s good to see calm and understanding heads, I just want us all to be given a chance as scrapping the meeting over this which could potentially happen if all fan groups put pressure on their reps, helps nobody.

I prefer posters who are balanced. When there is something to criticise, they criticise; when there is something to praise, they praise. In the main I prefer positivity to negativity, but if there is justifiable criticism then I prefer reasoned argument to ranting and vitriolic hyperbole.
Whatever the stance on ‘wrist slasher’ Vs ‘happy clapper’ I think it is an undeniable truth that there are some posters who find a cloud for every silver lining and who will leave no stone unturned to find a way to have a dig at Mel/the club/certain players. Equally, there are some who get so upset at any criticism that reason can also go out of the window and we descend into the aforementioned happy clapper vs wrist slasher debate.  Super and uncritical positivity in spite of all evidence to the contrary can be just as off putting as the opposite (though easier to ignore in my case).
For myself, I’m probably a glass half full kind of guy and have undoubtedly gotten into arguments on here with people I consider to be overly negative (though less so in recent years as I have grown up and realise you can’t win an internet argument so there’s no point). I also haven’t posted much recently because there isn’t a lot to be positive about and I’m certainly not going to try to persuade people otherwise (though I still occasionally try to put a less negative spin on some things).
So, in conclusion, I prefer a forum without entrenched views, where people can observe what is happening, comment on it, change their minds as the context changes and do so in peace and harmony. Oh and I like puns too. Yes, must have puns.

When you’re frustrated over anything, you need to vent. When you’re happy/content, there’s no need to vent.

This forum is a mechanism for posters to vent and go to bed with a clearer mind.

I tend to think the problem tends to be that when things are going bad the forum tends to attract a few posters who only turn up in those moments and tend to spout their opinion on all topics without even reading what anyone else has to say. So bad becomes very bad and very bad becomes chaotic.
Essentially both work aslong as posters read each other opinions and try to understand the other side of the argument to theirs.
