Jagielka was the one we had I trial that I liked the most. He's a very good competitor and despite getting on in his years, I feel he can definitely still provide a good option at this level. He's someone, who regardless of our situation, I wouldn't mind at the club to help keep the younger players focused. It also allows us to rotate our centre backs to keep them as fresh as possible. Mengi would still be a nice addition, but a striker is definitely more pressing.
Baldock, I'm not convinced, but in all honesty we've not got much of a choice and I said the same (in fact much worse) about CKR.

Ipswich are in a much better position to us at the moment, even if they are in League One.
They can spend money we can only dream about, plus the EFL will allow them to make signings. He's waiting on a promise here that may never even come to pass. I wouldn't blame him one bit.
It's not exactly a signing we're desperate for either, unless we're selling one of our numerous central midfield players. The only position on the entire pitch where we actually have options.

We need to have some perspective. In our current state, we have absolutely no other option than getting behind Rooney and co. Mel Morris isn't about to add another £4-6m to pay Rooney off. I think it's pretty clear to me that both Rooney and Mel probably can't stand the sight of each other, at least that's what it looks like from the outside looking in.
Mel, I'd imagine, would like nothing more than Rooney to walk away for nothing. Rooney, I'd imagine would like nothing more than a takeover to come through so he can have a proper crack at building his own team. Although, all that being said, depending on who comes in could potentially just make a quick change.
I said before the season that Rooney, in the current situation, has the safest job in football. We could lose the next 10 games all 4-0 and he would still have his job. We could get relegated with a record low points - he would still have this job. I have absolutely no doubt about that. I do think it's highly likely that he will surpass Paul Jewell's points-per-game record and perhaps go down in the history books as the worst manager the club's ever had.

It's a shame that more people haven't had the pleasure of watching him in academy games. He was always the best player on the pitch, often it wasn't even close. The only player that looked remotely close that I can remember was Saka for Arsenal.
He scored a hattrick because it's within his ability to do that at Championship level. We are talking about giving Ravel Morrison the freedom of Derby to develop and become the player that he has threatened to be. I would love us to do that with Sibley. Young players are going to have bad spells - Jason Knight was rolled out week-in, week-out last season when he was going through it. Sibley doesn't perform miracles within 10 minutes and people say he hasn't done enough. I don't get it personally.
I am in no doubts whatsoever that Sibley is the best player this club has on its books and the highest ceiling of any Derby player I have ever seen. He is special in exactly what we lack; it's the greatest tragedy in football that we aren't affording him the time to showcase his ability even if he doesn't score a hattrick every game. In my opinion, of course.

Buxton was excellent with his long passing. He was a little slow on the ball and not the most agile or reactive person with his movement. However, with the ball at his feet, he could certainly pick a pass. I agree.

I struggle to see how amortisation would be able to account for a 31(?) million pound swing in our accounts. I always thought based on the timeline of how things happened, we put in place our amortisation strategy to kick the can down the road with regards to having a real go during the Clement season. We would've hoped at the very least we would be able to sell some players and recoup money, which obviously didn't happen. I think at that point, once we realised we couldn't kick the can far enough down the road to keep us above P&S, we sold the stadium. It kept us very far above P&S as I think the loss over the three years in question was like £7-8m when the limit is £39m.
When you consider amortisation over three years - of course we would've taken a bigger loss in the first year, but also be better off in others as the overall value of depreciation still remains the same. There is also the news that we apparently have a £30m reserve that we could potentially use which would help.
I'd be beyond stunned if we fall foul of P&S, although totally understand that I am no accountant and could be talking absolute waffle in my own little bubble.

The 3 years to 2017 is what I was worried about more than any otherto be honest.
However, different rules were in place for the first 2 years of that period (when in was FFP and judged over 1 year). I believe the 3 years to 2018 was actually the first 3 year period. I'll double check later
