Isnt this the philosophy in trying to get to the Prem that’s contributed to this mess in the first place?

Derby can't afford to be Leeds (past) and spend 3 years in League one, under those circumstances, what new owner would buy Derby with its current debt.
Also there's no decent money to be made from being in League one that compares with paying off the massive debt, Derby has now.

What if you saw the same car and bought it with all those extras but knew that in 6 months all those items were going to be taken off anyway?
Its a crap analogy and that’s the best I could do to compare it….
Football is like no other business. The business is the club and the fanbase. Not the players.
To try and use your car analogy…
What if someone was selling you a car from Alaska and it had snow traction tyres and chains on it….and the engine needed repairs that would cost more than the car itself. Would you buy it?
What if the seller said the price stays the same but I’m going to carry out the repairs before you buy it and I’m going to sell those snow tyres and chains and give it to you with no tyres on it but give you some cash to buy normal tyres more suited to your roads for when it’s delivered….
I tried ??

The club also has to provide a business plan for 2? years which has to be agreed as workable and acceptable by the EFL upon coming out of administration.

Im not sure you’re seeing the same picture I am.
On July 1st we will officially become a league 1 club. That is inevitable regardless of any PR work carried out by WR and the players. On the same day several players, some of whom we could get fees for now and some of which well have paid a handsome wage for 6 months will be able to leave for no fee at all. What will we have gained?
We will be getting relegated. there is no reason to continue to pay high wages for players that simply cannot help us stay up and who will for certain be looking to move on and not play in league 1.
The club owes a huge debt to (among others) HMRC that they won’t be writing any large % off from.
The new owners, whoever they may be, won’t be buying the club until the secured debt (HMRC) is significantly lower than the value of the product (Derby FC) they’re buying. If the debt continues to remain higher than the value of the product the deal will be off and they’ll all disappear…then we have serious issues of insolvency and being wound up.
Given that the results on the field will be meaningless in the end result (relegation) the target for the club now is reducing secured debt to enable the sale to go ahead. That means finding income from selling assets (players) and reducing overheads (wages) so that turnover can contribute to further reducing debt.
Forget all about staying up. This ain’t football related anymore. It’s about securing a future and given that an entire squad will need to be rebuilt for league 1 use the saleable assets we have now to secure the future of the football club and accept whatever on field rebuilding process is necessary to mount a promotion from league 1 in however many seasons it takes…cos doing it in season 1 from this starting point ain’t happening either!

You're working on the assumption that the aim of the administrators is to just get through to the end of the season. If you look at it as though their aim is to maximise funds to pay creditors, be it to lower the overall debt to facilitate a sale or otherwise, then things look a lot less rosy.

I dont think Stretton's body is ready for him to be a regular starter.
Tommo is a better fit I a midfield 2, as Watson's very weak in the defensive side of things. I also believe Tommo has a higher ceiling.

The opposite is true even if I agree with your description of league 1. Festy will survive just on pace alone. He has more difficulty in the championship due his limited technical ability than he’ll have in league 1 where pace and strength will see him through. I agree he’ll have to think about his game more (just in general) but that would be required more in the Champ than league 1 where tearing around running at people will produce a degree of success regardless. Personally I’m not his greatest fan as a footballer as I think at the moment he lacks football ability! But I can see why he’s effective and as such why he’s selected. Personally I still think he’s a full back.

This perception that anyone who’s just not quite ready for the championship will be great league 1 players ?♂️?♂️?♂️?♂️
Ive said it before and I’ll say it again…..it’s like a different game and while I think Festy would be fine and very much suited to it, Watson and Plange would be like goldfish climbing trees

I’m sure he made 10/11 starts in row earlier in the season? On the back of a not particularly spectacular pre season.

Apart from being ridiculously fast, Ebosele is technically really poor.

Just seen the U23 goals, Watson looks ready. We need a passer of the ball in midfield. Are we shielding any championship exposure to hold on to him for league 1?

Not at all.
Making the bench for a championship game for the first team should be the holy grail not an act of tokenism to improve the compensation value. It doesn’t sit right to the other players who in general for one reason or another are ahead of him and deserve to be so, that are sidestepped in favour of a tribunal pay out.

Watson plays in the position Liam Thompson does. He’s been tried further up the pitch and it doesn’t suit him.

Liam has done exceptionally well but anyone thinking he’s going to play defence splitting passes hasn’t seen him play prior to this. How he’s played the last three games is exactly how he’s played in the 23s and 18s before that. That’s not a criticism btw but an understanding of the type of player he is will help avoid disappointment from those that want him to be something else.
His defensive work was exceptionally good for a player of his age. His ball retention was excellent but I agree with the other comment on it which is he doesn’t play forward passes and his game is, generally speaking, about finding the next player in the link and passing to the exact person you or I would expect him to pass to…normally the next closest player.
Like I say that’s not a criticism but it is a type that we seem to have cultivated in abundance (Max Bird and now it seems Ravel Morrison) and to make it worse from what I’ve seen in the 23s it’s also what we’ve turned Louie Watson into and also what it seems people like in Darren Robinson.
Whether its our predicament and the importance the staff have and do place on not losing and by retaining possession we limit the oppositions chances of scoring I don’t know but players like Jozwiak and Sibley are possibly seen as too much of a risk within that framework.
FWIW I don’t think Liams performance last night was any worse or any better and importantly it wasn’t any different to his performance against Bournemouth….but with a different result comes a different perception sand I’ve found in football perception is king and facts mean very little.
