Sounds like you know a bit about football. Don’t let Paul Warne read this or he’ll have you banned from the forum.

Not sure it's made a lot of difference....but Nelson seems a better choice of captain regardless.

Only way this season ends is in promotion. It’s been vile at times. It’s got toxic but we’ll hobble over the line either 2nd or through shithousing the playoffs.

It’ll be looked back on as another nervy finish - no more no less.

Yet what has happened to him? Someone moved him basically from his best position and decided to make him captain to give him something else to think about - NML is one of those who you leave in his best position and just concentrate on playing

Or a right footed player, playing as an inverted winger who gets a sitter on his weaker foot?
Call me old fashioned but....next season, if we still have PW - with his get it wide and get crosses in philosophy - I'd like to see a left footed left winger and a right footed right winger a) for getting decent crosses in and b) for scoring back post sitters!

Yes, Wycombe played much better stuff than I'd expected...some of their passges of plays were quite neat & opened us up easily. Also didnt think they resorted much to dark arts, it was a fair contest throughout. Their lad up top (Kone) looked a handful, add a bit of end product & he'll be playing at a much higher level.
It would have been difficult for a neutral to work out who was the team in 2nd & who was the team in 15th. Particularly galling given the difference in rest since last game & what was on the line for us. Was very disappointed with our approach, the ball seemed to be a hot potato at times, sensed a lack of urgency (Wildsmith taking ages over restarts) & the decision making was poor. Corners for instance...I get their keeper had a howler on Sunday but did every corner taker have to try & score directly!? Washington also seemed very ponderous on the break, the only exception being his ball to CBT who could have taken a touch & should have scored.
The side looked disjointed with Washingtoj & Collins up top..the latter was anonymous throughout and think we'd have been better served putting in Thompson as an extra midfielder to dominate territory & inject some creativity. Credit to Adams & Korey Smith who played well all night & stopped us being overrun.
Onto Orient & now needing favours from others. If I see Sonny Bradley in that starting line up, Im going to go spare. Dont even think about it Warne.

RE Warne. I think you have to give him the start of the season if we get promoted. I'm not a fan, I think he's fine at this level of being competitive but not a long-term solution. But it would be a big call to replace him and not one I see Clowes making. If we don't get promoted he's had 2 bites at the cherry, close but no cigar this time. Again I don't see Clowes replacing him but I think Warne's position becomes very tricky next season if we mess this up, there is a good chunk of the crowd not with him now and I think that turns to an overwhelming majority next season if we're still in League 1. We could do without that atmosphere if nothing else.

That's interesting and I do wonder why that appears to be so for a lot of people.
I found the administration very worrying, and I suppose I've just been celebrating us having a team to support ever since.
I also know that very few teams "succeed" in the strict definition of getting promoted/winning something, so there are a lot more teams who are losers than there are winners.

I love watching the coverage of Bundesliga games, where the diehards are at each end of the ground, and the middle sections have fans of both teams chatting, shaking hands etc. I wonder if they ever have any trouble? The Germany fans I have met seem very phlegmatic about their football these days and can take winning and losing in their stride equally well.

Lucky sod , was thinking about the old days when on mornings like this you just knew you wanted to be there and would jump in the car and be able to buy a ticket at the away ticket office for away and home sections and or take a punt you could get in some way
    them were ta days🤷🏻‍♂️

Off to Wycombe shortly , feeling confident we will be coming back with the points , the last two performances against Blackpool and Portsmouth have shown me that the lads have a steely determination to get the job done, tonight won’t be pretty but it’s all about the result
Safe trip down to all fellow Rams fans and let’s roar the lads on to a vital win  COYR

Foz or cashin the ones that would deserve it for me!
I get the home grown players are loved but bird chosen to better himself at Bristol city next season, sibley seems to only be able to establish himself in the side at left back and Thompson gets brought on to run a lot.
over ten or eleven years fozzy given a lot more than that, despite the odd dodgy spell. Cashin has been generally brilliant ever since he came into the side.

I think having the likes of Collins, Adams and Nelson as the spine of the team is a bonus for games like this. They’ll set the tone for the rest and make sure we’re not bullied as easily as we have been in the past….i hope 🤞

I loved that RvdL got that goal, he really deserved it. This season it could be anyone and I think I'd love it equally.
Cashin, Bird or Sibley - would be lovely if one of the home grown lads were to seal the deal.
Plenty of other likeable candidates though, I'd honestly love it if it were any of the lads, they all have a bit of a story and a reason for us to connect with them, even those that haven't delivered as we would have hoped. We have a good bunch of players at the moment. Almost like Warne's stated desire to have good people at the club is a really positive thing.
Wilson would be by curve ball option, he just epitomises the kind of player fans love and you know he would absolutely love it.

This team have played their hearts out. Sometimes we stuttered, sometimes we looked “off it”, then confused then “on it” and buzzing. We turn up and it’s hard to know how we are going to do. Unpredictable I suppose, but as a group they have done what I like and that’s play for each other as a real team, giving all of what they have to give.
For me … I want a Cashin header to seal it. That lad really does leave everything on the pitch including the mint sauce.

And we responded by beating Blackpool and drawing away to Pompey unfortunate not to win. We lost back to back games in Feb, we responded by winning 4 in a row. In adversity the team generally delivers, even in the Northampton game despite being awful we still should’ve won. Bolton were battered by Bristol by all accounts but managed to win, we destroyed Bristol when we played them.
We’ve got the tools and are playing well enough to get the wins to get the job done regardless of what Bolton do.

Also didn’t vale go and beat Barnsley at their place recently? Drew away with Wigan and we’re unfortunate not to win. They’re in a scrap for survival and are picking up form who is to say Bolton won’t drop points against them. Derby are no more or less likely to drop points than Bolton and we’re net second with 4 games left. As others have said you’d have bitten your hand off for this position back in October when we lost to Stevenage.

    It’s time to believe.

Of our remaining 4 fixtures, only Wycombe are in the top half of the current form table (9th with 3 wins and a draw from their last 6 games) - we're joint 4th with 13 points. With players coming back from injury, I think we're in a decent position for the final push. None of the games will be easy, but no game in this league is for a club of our size. The players should be used to that by now. They've generally dealt well with that pressure and now they just need to really want promotion and take the chances when they arise - don't walk away from any game with regrets.

Same so do I and they will. Thing I like about us this season is how well we respond to adversity. There is a steel about them. We’ve had to s******** recent games largely due to our injury situation (which is as bad as anyones in the league for all Bolton’s bleating), but I thought we were really good against Pompey and I can see a return to the excellent performances of Bristol Vale and Reading for the last 4 games. If we play like we did against Pompey in the remaining fixtures we’ll get this done, no doubt in my mind.
