I don't think the answer is necessarily better players, but better coaching and tactics that would turn a few draws into wins and show evolution from previous games. When you look at the first quarter of the season and you can pinpoint a large majority of games where we didn't get what we deserve, that tells you it's a coaching problem. A good coach would be looking for and finding solutions.
No-one is saying that we should be showing the consistency of WBA, Fulham and Bournemouth. But look at the league table. Coventry, Luton, Huddersfield and Millwall all occupy places in the top 10 of this division. Do they have significantly better players than us? Why are they making fewer errors? Why are they winning more football matches?
Of course, individual errors can happen and of course, we are working hard, showing fighting spirit, and seeing improvement from last year. However last year was abysmal and the bar couldn't have been set any lower. The only way was only ever going to be up. But to say a coach cannot do anything about what happens on the pitch is practically absolving the likes of Rooney and Rosenior of any and all responsibility. What I would say is that Rooney is getting parts right - the players look motivated, the players (on the whole) look organised, but rarely do we seem to learn from or have worked on mistakes, and rarely do we seem to have tactical nous to change a game in our favour.
To say you don't think any manager could get more out of them seems unfounded and wildly assumptive to me. We've picked up 16 points from 39 (roughly 40% of all available points). It's less than half. There is always room for improvement. History shows a manager can and does tend to come in and get more out of a group of players.
We were 2-1 up with 10 minutes to go. I am not even sure it would have taken ingenuity to close out the game, but the kind of tweaks that experienced managers know to make because they have been in this position time and time again.

Let’s be right here, however much you want Roos back in the team that’s one thing but to say the goal at Wembley was down to anything else but a complete calamity by the goalkeeper is just ridiculous.
Over a season It won’t matter who we have in goals, Roos, Marshall, Allsopp they are all average championship keepers and will all make average championship keeper mistakes, It happens, It will continue to happen that’s why they are in the championship.
I’m sure on the Luton forum they are wanting their defender out who gifted Lawrence the first goal or their goalie out who let Knight beat him at the near post, It happens.

There's no point tying ourselves up in knots here. This is The Championship, if our players were error free they would be in the Prem. But all championship teams make errors. The Stoke keeper had a mind-womble when he came out and totally missed Curtis's nod on for 2-0. We won 2-1 so that error gifted us 2 points. I've highlighted that one because it was a goalkeeping error.
The point is when it comes to mistakes we are average and other teams also suffer.
Our issue is simple and has been for two seasons. It's goals. It's nothing new it's been spoken about a million times on here but I sense posters getting frustrated and starting to get annoyed around other things. We have been unable to address this problem due to the embargo. The strikers we have are not good enough and we can do nothing about it.
Rooney is trying to find ways to win and yesterday we scored two good ones but frustratingly our usual solid defence let us down. It's football.
We need a good striker we aren't going to get one. As it is I see us slowly creeping to safety this season as things stand but a further deduction will sink us.

Thought the ref and his assistants were pretty reasonable tonight, let plenty go which I don't mind and nothing majorly controversial to complain about.

    Yes, you are.
The ball flicked off Shinnie's head at the front post. Perhaps we should blame the keeper for our holding midfielder being too short?

Not so long ago people didn't want Roos in goal, remember Wembley anyone and we had Carson on the bench, we've got average keepers who will constantly make mistakes.

Was Davies dropped after Sheff Utd away?

Jagielka would have challenged their guy if Allsop had stayed on his line.
If you're coming that far for the ball, you take the ball and everyone around it.
Was very poor goalkeeping but on the balance over his 4 league games he is still in credit.

Allsop has been fine for us so far, coming for a cross and not getting it is a mistake, but it's hardly the biggest howler in the world.
The truth is that whether we play Marshall, Allsop or Roos, they will all make mistakes. They are Championship goalkeepers for a reason. The ones in this league who make the fewest play for England, or would cost a similar amount to our entire squad.
Knight's goal went straight through the Luton's keepers legs, that's another mistake made by a Championship keeper. But it's not picked up on as much, because it's gone in our favour.

If he’d stayed on his line he would have had time do a couple of keepie uppies before catching it. It’s a split second decision and he made the wrong one. Unfortunately mistakes will be made, but generally our defensive starts are excellent. Would be harsh to drop him.

Wayne would not want to work for disrespectful owners . I would say the Saudis are quite disrespectful at times . People who are respectful to them by bowing their heads just get them chopped off.

Referees are marked by each team, Referess will have an assessor in the stands to monitor their performance(who assesses the assessor?)when they constantley get good scores they'll be invited to officiate a Premier game, They'll be scrutinised and eventually if they make a good showing they'll be added to the Premier League list, Stuart Atwell on the other hand was fast tracked just like the Australian official has been, Atwells mentor was one George Courtney a horrible official imo, A school headmaster...instead of detention he booked them, One who NEVER used COMMON SENSE!
Andy D'Urso who was a decent ref imo, One game in the Premier was the start of his downhill profession, He dared to give a penalty against United at Old Trafford and suffered the consequences.

I don't think there's much in it to be honest. Apart from his debut, Allsop has been very reliable and i think he has proved a more consistent GK than Roos so far. Both have made big, crucial saves at times this season, but i am less nervous with Allsop in goal.
