The appeal has been adjourned, not scrapped. Two completely different things.

Surely this means it will have a new date soon for a hearing.

Not necassarily, An adjournment gives one side or the other time to reflect or new evidence has been found, Legal people possible from both sides will have called for this, Either DCFC accept, EFL withdraw the -12 points or it goes ahead

I wonder how people would feel about a completely level playing field?

Imagine if wages were paid directly by the league - could be a £10m 'subscription' from each club and TV money making up the rest. Each club get the same wage structure, eg, 5 players at £25k, 5 at £20k, 5 at £15k, 5 at £10k and 10 at £5k. Clubs choose which players are in which tier and are set at the start of each season and can be altered in January. No transfer fees, and fixed two year contracts. Clubs can transfer list players who are then available for a 'free transfer'.

OK, it would need a lot of details ironing out, but the point I'm making is how would we feel if things were completely even financially? If the size of the club made no difference - Barnsley, Derby and West Brom each had the same wage bill. It would certainly change things, but would we want it?

Even more drastic if applied to the Premier League - Watford have the same clout as Man City...which of course means it would never happen.

Bla Bla Bla...there's nowt in that story that says WHY we could have been hit with -17 points

    Shudda wudda cudda

"Nixon though writes in The Sun on Sunday this morning that the EFL ‘had the power’ to push for a much larger penalty for Derby County’s financial misconduct – he writes that, should the case have gone to an independent disciplinary commission, then the EFL could’ve pushed for a 17-point deduction rather than a 9-point deduction.

Derby County and the EFL don’t have the best relationship it seems. The club have broken the rules and are rightfully set to pay a heavy price, but in the midst of this ongoing saga between the two it seems like the EFL have started to throw their weight about somewhat.

As Derby look for ways around their points punishments it seems the EFL are trying to back them into a corner and show to them that they have no way out of their current predicament and that relegation is indeed the only outcome for them this season"

We wouldn't have bought Johnson and Butterfield had the injuries not occurred. Which was clearly designed to maintain the strength of the squad, but which undoubtedly contributed materially to the massive overspend and arguably was the beginning of all our issues.

To be fare, I was as pleased as Punch when Johnson signed at the last minute, He had a great last season with Norwich, But we all know that went south with us from then on.

What's that got to do with this parachute payments thread? ?‍♂️

They both won the raffle, Ist prize was a Parachute jump of their choosing, So they're jumping with gate money in hand to Craven Cottage

I don't see why the PL would distribute the money out to other Championship teams. Their whole existence is based on making money. They don't do anything to help the wider game. They view the sport as a product. The money men behind the PL would be happy to scrap promotion/relegation if they could get away with it as it would make their product more stable.

The European Super League altho mothballed will come about...but not in the format that was proposed, You can bet your Grans Pension that talks are still ongoing concerning BIG EU clubs, Clubs imo will resign from their leagues and set up a closed shop of around 18 of the biggest teams and play in a league format as is now...38 games, TV companies around the World will cream themselves over this...and the rest of the Premier teams will shrivell into the corner as the money tap has slowley dried up...all in the realms of fantasy now, But this is what the Bigger clubs want in Europe.

They won't give the money away which is a shame as within a decade over 50% of the PL clubs will get relegated at some point and be on the other side of the fence. This absolutely will happen but the clubs can only see as far as the current season and assume they are all established PL clubs. There are only maybe 8 established Premier League clubs who have not been relegated in the past decade.

That I agree with, There are several Premier clubs now that have borrowed vast sums of money from future Sky revenue, It's these clubs and those others that are in the 50% who wouldn't vote to give money away, Self preservation come to mind.

I wonder if Kirchner wants to conclude to purchase quickly so he can then appeal the points deductions. Let me explain. Any sale cannot realistically take place with the potential points deduction. So take the punishment for ffp, complete the sale, get out admin and have the transfer embargo lifted. We can then sign players in January and we can appeal both the 12 point deduction and the 9 point deduction under the new owner. For the 12 point deduction, the administrators seemed confident in a positive outcome. For the ffp breach, Mel seemed to think we may be able to rewrite the accounts such that we wouldn't be in breach of ffp.

The efl are cleat dragging things out and the administrators want to finish off as sooas possible. So they have removed their appeal allowing the efl to dish out their punishment, allow the sale to conclude  and the new owners appeal at their expense. That said I'm not sure if we will be able to appeal after the sale is concluded?

If we can the above makes sense to me. Thoughts?

Ironically, there was a proposal to abolish parachute payments and redistribute income better as "Project Big Picture" last October - it was a power grab by the top 6. In exchange for increased voting rights they proposed increaing the wealth distribution between lower clubs in the pyramid and thus abolishing the need for parachute payments. Much of which I agreed with, just not the increased voting rights of the big clubs.

That's the same as having a stay of execution, You're happy not to be executed tomorrow, But you know it'll next be month.

Fulham centre forward on £100,000 per week which is more than the entire team he is facing every week, doesn’t seem fair or affordable without parachute money.

Not forgetting they have an International player that isn't costing them any transfer money for 2 years.

    The problem with a Premier League 2 is;

    a) a large gap will then appear between PL2 and the new top division of the EFL.

    b) we probably won't be in PL2 if it started next season!

We don't need a PL2, we need a PL1, 2, 3 & 4. The gap betwen tv revenue can reduce a little bit between every single league place of the whole 92 clubs.

Something like this existed before the "birth of football" in 1992!

Was that when we had Match of the Day and Star Soccer...the difference now is the filthy lucre, The idea of the PL taking over from the EFL sounds great in theory...but in practice I cant see it, You need 2/3 of the Premier teams to agree this I believe, I just don't see them giving money away.

Did he.  He didn't fancy Martin in the side and was certainly looking for more aggression. We pulled out of a free tranfer for Sol Bamba because the hierachy didn't think he fitted the Derby way.  Got promoted with Cardiff as captain the next year.  Rowett had success using Vydra in that kind of formation with Jerome.  Anyas a strange one. we overpaid for a 29 year old and a 4 year deal was crazy.  Did Pearson just say I like that player though,  perhaps he assumed he'd get a 3 year deal or 2.  That wasn't his remit.  he was good for 3 games, got dropped after Pearson left then decided he didn't want to play anymore. Not the first but players normally leave if they don't play.

There's not many players i'd put in the same bracket as Awfull Anya...Mick Coop being one, We tried and tried to unload Anya, But he wouldn't have it...stayed on the vast wage he was getting, I must say either his Agent was at the top of his game...or our contract team were shocking.

Why not simply divide the Parachute money equaly between the Championship clubs!!

The Premier League teams vote for the Parachute payments, Ans will carry on doing so, There will be no sharing of monies IMO, Why would the Norwichs and WBAs, Fulhams, Bournmouths of this world deny themselves a huge advantage to get promoted in the 1st/2nd year of relegation, How many years do they get this loot...3/4 years?

There's Turkey farms in the UK and all the ballot papers have been returned without an X to see if they want to involved this Xmas.

I keep clinging to the hope that the EFL are so worried, with justification, that if won the appeal against the 12 points deduction it would either open the floodgates for other clubs to go into administration or they’d have to change the rules after our case and we’d have been seen to have got away with it. I hoping they’re looking to avoid either of these scenarios by getting us to drop our appeal in exchange for a deal on the potential additional points deduction.

This was/is my hope, Being drip fed "leaks", It's as bad as waiting for an Ariva bus arriving on time, You know ones on it's way...but when.

A good read that was Reg, But not for those who believe in Fairy Tales, Football for me lost it's Soul years ago, I can't put a date/time on it, The passion I had for football has got me into bother with Away fans, Home fans, Family, The Law, The Courts, All because of a team called Derby County, They could have been aliens from another planet who ate their children and i've still walked on broken glass barefooted to watch them.

Football is a Corrupt Sport, FIFA, UEFA, CONCACAF and others are even today in it for the Money, Fans like B4 who posts on here, He and his Dad go home and away, Spend their hard earned, Are treated when going away as an inconvenience, He's where I and many many 1000s were back in the day.

In todays World of Football...it's run by those who have NO! affinity to the club they own, Players who cheat, Refs who are incompetent have taken the game to another World, Yesterday England Vs Albania...2mins of injury time in the 1st half, When there were 4 stopages from Albanian players going down injuered amounting to close on 8mins, The fans are still being cheated, The price fans pay for this division is £30+ for an away game...and people still pay it...and fare play to them.

Sorry for the rant all unfortunately it's the World we live in...driven by £££££££££££££££££££££.
