Really? I would rather have 21 Oxford home games and a club, than no club at all.
What ever is wrong at the moment can be fixed. Having no club can't.

Think people are underestimating how big of a rebuild this is, 2nd season in 3 games in and everyone thinks we should be walking this league, we still can’t spend a penny by the sounds of it, just because we’re a big club doesn’t mean we’ll p*ss the league it took Ipswich a while Bolton stuck still, Sunderland a few years, give it chance and stop just expecting after the sh*te we’ve gone through

I disagree regarding recruiting players last summer, the players needed to be recruited last year to field a team of 18 regardless of manager or the system we were playing.
I think he is recruiting for his system but we've lost our 2 best players from last year in Knight & McGoldrick and we don't have any money to spend to replace them like for like. McGoldrick and Knight in this team, along with the signings we've made this summer, makes us instance contenders for top 2 IMO. I don't think he's happy losing both off these players but he had no choice. I think he needs to be given time/multiple windows to replace them.
Warne has a track record of getting out of League 1. I'm not sure what other expertise tops that.
I agree, the results and performances are crap at the minute but I think he needs time to sort it out and mould his team. We've got a rag tag bunch of players, which we needed to field a team of 18 last season. Most were signed on 2 year deals and will be out of contract at the end of the season. I personally think next summer will be the key transfer window, and hopefully by then, we will be any to spend some small nominal fees, within budget, on players.
If we sack Warne this season, we won't get Simpson or Carsley. We'll be dumpster diving for a Manager out of a job like Darren Moore. Clowes won't make to same mistake spending compo on a manager. But I personally hope he has a tonne more patience then Mad Mel.
I think Warne and the Club have made that classic GSE over-promise by saying we're going for promotion. I'm sure Warne wants that because he's clearly an optimist, but it's clearly created high expectations in the fan base. This team without Knight and McGoldrick never looked like a promotion capable team.
But I completely respect your opinion though, even if I disagree with most of your points. Half full vs half empty glasses and all that.

Clowes didn't want to own Derby and stepped up to save us against his own better judgement. I'm genuinely a bit embarrassed that in just over a year some are ready to start blaming him for things. Good grief.

After those first two games, it will have been a hot potato. I’d think they were scared stiff of making another significant mistake.

Perhaps they’ll relax a little if we win a few more. At the moment, they’ll know that the pressure is on them from all angles, 3 games in.

It’s going to be a long season. We may or may not finish in the   Top 6. Clearly, we’re short of pace and it could well be that there’s no money to sort it.
So, I’m happy we have a win, a clean sheet, 3 different scorers and a better performance. I don’t expect us to take the Division by storm on the back of a good win at Burton but it’s a start.
I see that there is still the occasional poster who isn’t any happier. I’m not sure I understand that but each to their own. Next week will be a real test. 6 points on offer. I’d take 4 now after those first two home games. Fingers crossed that we are turning the corner and that there might still be enough in the piggy bank to attract a decent pacy midfielder on loan.
I’m not holding my breath though…

I have zero expectations for the next few years. I feel better about the current state of affairs  now that I acknowledge that.
I’m a rams fan for the long haul, through thick and through thin.
Let the well paid professionals at the club get on with it . There’s zilch I can do about it.
I’ll celebrate the goals,  the wins and the good performances. I’ll not get down about the defeats, the poor performances or the ins and out of any players. I’ll enjoy the banter.
Life is too short to worry about things I can’t change or where I can’t make a difference.

Agree here, suggesting we can is far from suggesting we will. It may be that the budget is barely in 6 figures, it may be that Clowes will want every other avenue exploring before a fee is spent, and then spend only on the closest thing you can get to a 'sure bet' in football. Clowes isnt particularly wealthy in football club owner terms, he certainly doesn't strike me as a rash spender, so yeah he could offer us some manna in suggesting we could pay fees, but in real terms its not really going to happen.
Are we still in the bodies through the door stage? If so demonstrating that we pay fees now may make that job more expensive. A couple more windows and maybe we'll start seeing modest fees on the final few peices of the jigsaw.
Warne et al will say they expect promotion, they kinda need to when speaking about a club like Derby, but the rebuild is going to be massive and take years. I too fall for the sin of over expectation, but I wont be stunned if we stay in L1 for a bit and even have our lowest ever finish until we have fully found our feet.

The Twitter reply from JamesP just goes to show how things can be taken out of context and marginal facts can used to make a point.
Last season may have been our joint ever lowest finish but have we ever started a season with such a hastily thrown together squad before? Have we ever completed a season under such external restrictions before? Have we ever found ourselves in this league before purely because of a massive points deduction before? If we fail to get promoted this season then yes, it will be our longest ever period in league 1 but potentially only by one season.

Agreed. I can recall quite a few posts from a couple of seasons ago saying that Forsyth should never wear a Derby shirt again. Seemed a strange view to take at the time ( he’d made a mistake that led to a goal 😎) but it just shows how some people assess a player on short term performance rather than over a long period.

I can remember the great bald Eagle having a terrible start to the season, I was at Tranmere away, Stimac debut, he scored we lost 5-1, I think we won 1, drew 1 and lost 3 of our first 5 games that season thats 4 points from 15 , fans screaming for Jimbo to do one, then come May we are promoted, we move to PP, and played some of the best football for years, lets all get behind our club, it's to early to panic, but after what Mel did to us, we must give our club time to recover, and we will. Once A Ram Always A Ram.

    Close to playoffs
Close to top 2? Questionably. Had we been able to hold onto leads we would have gone up.
Warne sacked? After two games this season. Get real guys some of these threads just show the entitlement culture of current UK society. It’s going to be a hard slog to get promoted following administration. No matter what division you’ve just come down from.

defensively we’ve always been frail. I can’t remember many seasons where I was confident we’d not concede when noses in front. Even in promotion seasons.

I know we need goals, but we also need to stop gifting chances to the opposition.

I think alot of people have quickly forgotten how close we were to going bust. The fact there was limited potential buyers for a club that has 30k gates, premier league training facilities etc should tell you just how much of a financial mess MM left us in.
The best thing DC can do imo is continue working to a strict budget over the next couple of years, then either look to sell or bring on investors once the balance sheets are properly sorted.

I think it's great if the club is being run in a sustainable way from now on. Don't mind to see a team made of players from the academy and low budget transfers. Won't forget how it felt when Derby County almost didn't exist anymore and don't ever want to see that chaos again. It hurts when we lose off course but that feeling goes away when we win. This rebuild will take time but I enjoy the ride. Not worried at all with Clowes at the top compared to the Morris show.

Then I hope the fans can lower their expectations to a level where Derby can compete, not only on the field, but also as a trading company with a firm business structure and plan to sustain the club for many years to come.
A club of Derby's size cannot afford to carry on being a 'boom & bust' club, irrespective of the size of its fan base or ground and training facilities.
The money in the Premier league is just killing the lower EFL clubs, where Luton Town, will receive a minimum of £105 million for one season in the Premier, followed by another £60 million over the next 3 seasons, if and when they get relegated.

I wish fans would accept that Derby cannot "splurge" the cash anymore. It's only just over 12 months ago that we were on the verge of total oblivion - no ground; no players; no club - nothing whatsoever.
We've been to the edge of the abyss, looked in and we don't ever want to go there again.
I do not want to see an owner "splash" the cash and offer us dreams, then run out of money and see it all collapse.
If we have to buy players who are, by other club or division standards, "cheap" or loans, so be it, until the club is back on firm footing, without any embargos or EFL restricted business plans, when, perhaps one day, we can go back to trading players in the normal way.
David Clowes has a plan which he set out in his interview a few months ago, in which he hoped that Derby would be back, and competing, in the Championship within 5 years and if Derby have to remain in Division 1 for another season, I will accept that because I love my football watching my home town club Derby County FC.
Let's not get over excited about who may or may not be transferred, in or out of the club, in the next few weeks, because there is still 27 days to go before the transfer window closes on the 1st September.

We are a “Warne work in progress” for sure but, in a nutshell, NML played centrally will start to bang the goals in, fed from the apex of Midfield by mercurial through balls threaded through the eye of the defence-piercing needle that is Max Bird’s left peg. Joe Ward will find Collins’s forehead with metronomic periodicity. Once the new left-siders are fit (Elder, mainly) better balance will be achieved, principally benefiting Louis  Sibley who will re-emerge as the destroying angel reincarnate. Result: 15 games in the Derby team will be a finely-tuned Rolls-Royce produced Merlin engine, with principal pilot Sonny Bradley in the cockpit smashing through with aerial power to wreak occasional havoc on opponent defenders. Curtis “Horatio” Nelson will observe from the poop deck and also fire the odd musket ball goal-ward. By Christmas/New Year, HMS Derby County will be sailing in clear blue waters, cutting through the waves inexorably toward Championship-landia, observed with dignified pride from the West, by Admiral Clowes. The good ship Derby will reach land 2 weeks ahead of schedule.

So, hoist your mainbrace, chocs away, and standby for another memorable season.

I wouldn’t waste your breath mate. It’s clear some people think we can spend millions on players and not get into financial difficulties. It’s like they’ve all had amnesia or something.

We all know this team needed at least 10 players in. There’s a limited budget to play with. Some of the deals like Washington and Wilson were very clever imo.

If you and other people feel the need to question Warne that’s up to you. I only ever look to contest points with people when I can see a fairly logical counter argument. I’ve not seen anything of desperate concern to worry about yet.
The forward recruitment? We’ve signed Washington and are intending to add more strikers.
The depth of the squad? It’s currently better balanced and in need of a few more signings to be improved further, which Warne and the club have explained.
The selling of players and inability to re-invest the funds? That’s not Warne’s doing, is it? It’s circumstantial, born from Morris’ legacy, the admin and the EFL. It’s been made clear that Pearce and Clowes ultimately dictate the business side of the club.
So what are we left with? His choice of players to recruit? Always going to be subjective and can’t really be qualified until we’ve seen them succeed or fail in a rams shirt.
His bad patter? That’s just who he is, can’t do much about it.
His tactical and in game management? It let us down last season. He’s said all the right things in recognising that and needed to be better, now he needs to show it when it matters, again can’t fully judge it until the season starts.
I’ve no problem with people questioning Warne, I just don’t yet see any real questions to be levelled solely at his door. It feels like people will go out of their way to question Warne relentlessly, about anything, without much thought or depth to the argument….that’s what I don’t get. And I would feel this way if it was Rosenior, Steve McClaren, Jim Smith or Brian Clough himself.

This season will be the first in god knows how many that I haven't renewed my season ticket (I've moved and its a 300 miles round trip).  Given the last major game I missed was the play-off final vs West Brom I fully expect it to be a successful season 😛
There seems to be a bit of preseason apprehension and pessimism around but I honestly think we'll do okay with the squad we've got (assuming Waggy signs).  We could obviously do with 2 or 3 more players but Warne knows that and it won't be for the want to trying if we don't get them.
It was only just over a year ago that we nearly lost everything, we've made a lot of progress in the meantime - I think sometimes people forget/expect too much.  Whether it ends in promotion or not, another season of progress will do for me, after which we're free of all EFL restrictions and back competing with our full resources.

Actually it's Washington, Collins (starters) and maybe Waggy. I don't see Sharp coming here.
Given that we need another midfielder, a number 10 and a striker, if Waggy isn't too expensive then as a squad player, I can see the logic.
I keep saying this - we're in League 1 chaps. Forget the olden days of over-paying - we're not that club anymore. When we 'attracted' big players it's 'cos we paid top, top dollar and it nearly killed us. We need players to get us out of League, that's all and Waggy on a one year isn't a bad option.
