Can provide cover for LWB and is a natural left-footer I suppose, so would make sense.

Bloody awful! See you on Saturday, I'm off to the pub!

Matt Penney (LWB) - Free agent
Andrew Moran (CAM) - Loan
Michael Smith (ST) - Loan with option to buyThose 3 signings (or similar) in the next couple of weeks and I reckon we'll have had a bloody good transfer window!
-
Wildsmith
Nelson Bradley Cashin
Ward Smith Bird Hourihane Thompson
Collins Mendez-LaingStill a couple of players short IMO... but a solid lineup overall (especially defensively). Be interesting to see which of Bird or Hourihane (or both) are given the license to get more involved attack-wise. COYR 🐏

Matt Penney (ex-Sheff Wed and Ipswich) for the other left-sided wing back slot if we can get him in. Still a free agent. L1 experience. Strong squad option.

As long as we're successful, I don't give a [insert 4-letter word here] how we play! 🤣

I can think of a few 'keepers we've given some abuse over the years! Hamer and Roos just two from recent memory.

Josh Coburn likely to go out on loan again from Middlesbrough after a good spell at Bristol Rovers last year. Would be ideal to fill the void at striker & much more appealing than Rhodes. Good size, with pace & power
Ideal suggestion!
We're one of the better options in this league to send players out to and I get the feeling the Steve Gibson - Derby hatred was more a Steve Gibson - Mel Morris hatred so now he's gone it's probably realistic!

Really starting to hope we're looking more at the loan market as the free agents/deals where we could get players on a free aren't exciting me at all!
@Ghost of Clough's Andy Moran suggestion would be great! Wouldn't be surprised if he went to somewhere like Hull instead though. Another Brighton prospect, Cameron Peupion, would be worth a shout for the attacking mid role too... had a solid season in their U21s last season.
Centre forwards that also did well last season at that level include Divin Mubama (West Ham), and Mateo Joseph and Sonny Perkins (both Leeds). Would also suggest Harry Leonard (Blackburn), however he may be on the verge of their 1st team next season at this rate.
I watch a lot of academy football before anyone asks if I've seen them play or not! 🤣

Exactly. So having banked a bit of money last season from gates well in excess of the business plan, season ticket sales much higher than our one or two closest competitors and seval times higher than most, plus fees for Bielik and Knight, plus savings in wages on both its time to get our hand in our pockets and pay a fee or two. I want to see a couple of young Bobby Davison type speculative signings where we back the judgement of our scouting team. Please NOT any more over the hill players such as Sharpe or Rhodes where we look to squeeze the last few drops, or journeymen players like Collins and Washington. Lets have some IMAGINATION
I'm with you on this one... try someone that we may be able to push to better things rather than someone whose already done the better things and is on the slide. I'd be after Luke Armstrong from Harrogate... with the right service (and regular game time), he could get 15-20 goals in this league... I'd even go down to the bookies and put money on it!

If we weren't going to spend a bit (at least on a decent striker) then I don't get what DC's "budget... good enough to get us out of the league" comment in his interview was about! You're a legend for saving us DC, obviously, but you've built our expectations up now and were expecting better than 30+ year old journeyman strikers.

Someone we were linked with a few years ago, but how about Tom Bayliss from Shrewsbury to play CAM? Young (24), fairly highly rated, scored 6 from midfield last season in a team that didn't create much and only got a year left on his contract, so wouldn't cost the earth.

A cover WB, a number 10, and another striker and I think we're probably just about there.
I'd also like to see a bit of youth come in now personally.
I think we're about covered WB wise with NML, Barks and Sibbo able to back up Ward and Elder if needed. Agree with the attacking options though... probably a couple of decent quality loans.

I'm expecting at least one signing today...
Probably putting 2+2 together and making 5, but what would be the point of going on a big pre-season training camp without players you want to be a key part of the team at the start of the season?

Of all the players suggested, Sam Nombe ticks the most boxes for what would be the ideal signing. Not sure what sort of fee Exeter would be expecting though, I guess any reasonable offer would have to wait until Knight is sold.
The longer time goes on, the more I'm thinking that that sort of signing is what's coming...
Sam Nombe (or similar), a loanee (Jebbison from Sheff U? Joseph from Leeds? Parrott from Spurs?) and James Collins as our forward options.

A name familiar as he had a trial with us last season, but Deji Sotona is once again without a club after ending last season with Burnley's U21 team. Could be worth a taking a low risk chance... an extremely quick player!

You see the pens he's already given, then you see that... that was more clear cut and he just waves it away! 😠
Then Santos goes and dives and doesn't even get booked!
Joke of a ref!
