Seen that Steven Alzate has been let go by Brighton. Would be a good Championship midfield option.
-
Charlton have triggered the one-year extension option in his contract
-
Ferdy Druijf from Rapid Vienna for a centre-forward option...
Tall, strong, good in the air, relatively quick... had a rough season in Austria so was loaned back out to PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie where he was doing well before getting injured in Jan. Should be back fit in the summer though.
-
Yeah, they missed out on the play-offs, but the Championship was a really strong league this season and LR turned a team from lower-mid table into Playoff contenders... very harsh to get sacked!
I imagine he'll already have another job by the time next season starts.

Adams A.Nother Sibley
As long as A.Nother is a quality DM addition (Nathaniel Chalobah on a free? Bosun Lawal or Tim Iroegbunam on loan maybe?) that'd provide a decent balance to start across midfield IMO.
-
If we end up not going with Wildsmith next season (I personally think we should... you don't get a Golden Glove over a season for nothing!), then both Viktor Johansson and Max Stryjek are available on frees and solid GKs.

Sell who? The only player we have with value is Cashin!
But no, other than us being competitive and not there to make up the numbers, we don’t know. And those statements don’t really tell you much either as that’s different to different people.
It’s a fair ask though, do we think we will spend more than £1m on anyone? I’m dubious.
I'm expecting a "Nigel Clough-era" type transfer window even with restrictions removed... 1 player bought for between £1m-£1.5m... maybe a couple of lower fees... the rest freebies and loans.

I'd be very surprised if we don't take another look at Harry Leonard from Blackburn. 20 years old and only a year left on his contract.
He was the striker who was all set to come in on loan in January, before Eustace came in and pulled the plug.
Would be an astute signing if we could get him at the right price (I doubt Blackburn would let him come out on loan to a potential rival)... not really took anybody by storm in senior teams as yet but I reckon he could easily be a top-end Champ/mid to low-end PL player in the future from what I saw at U21 level.

And I wonder if we'll look to replace his hybrid role. I'd say Fozzy would be a good fit for it, but he'll probably end up back in the first team and starting matches knowing him
If we're looking to keep the role, first person I'd be on the phone to is one Mr Curtis Davies... just been released by Cheltenham.

I'm liking the sounds of "shrewd Premier League loan signings"! Maybe some U21s spread throughout positions CB/CM/CF?
Add to that the odd freebie (Burrows, Rathbone, Clarke-Harris?) and maybe a fee for 1-2 players with potential (who knows!) then I reckon a solid mid-table finish is well possible.

Looks like Peterborough have already thrown in the towel RE: Autos... Put half of their reserves out and already 2-0 down to Cheltenham

I hope Nombe would be able to improve on his 2 championship goals in 39 appearances this season if we did sign him 😱
He's been regularly played out of position and, lets face it, anyone would have struggled for goals in that Rotherham side this season 🤣
That record might work in our favour as he'd cost a fee. He was impressive at Exeter and I'm confident we'd see more of that sort of player with us creating more chances 😊
-
If we're going to stick with 3 at the back, wing backs and 2 up front (which I think PW will)... I'd like to see a front two of Sam Nombe and Jonson Clarke-Harris! Pace, power, a history of goals and wouldn't cost the Earth.

Subs needed I think... still haven't left the dressing room!

Linesman has to see that elbow
Seems the officials are the only people in the ground that didn't see that! Should be playing the second half against 10 men.

What I expect Warne to field:
Wildsmith
Nelson Bradley Cashin
Wilson Adams Hourihane Sibley
Mendez-Laing Blackett-Taylor
CollinsSubs: Vickers, DRobinson, Smith, Thompson, Barkhuizen, Washington, Waghorn
Swap Smith for Hourihane and I think that's pretty much bang on

We've had a shot on target!

If Warne doesn't get us promoted his position is simply untenable, and performances like this are the reason why.
Agreed... This squad should be winning this league on paper. We all know football isn't played on paper, but we can and should be playing better and that's mainly due to how PW sets the team up
-
Any chance of a shot on target any time soon please lads?
-
This is going to end up 1 scrappy goal either way, I can feel it!

If Bird's back, I'd get him straight back in...
Wildsmith
Wilson Nelson Cashin Sibley
Smith Adams
Mendez-Laing Bird Blackett-Taylor
CollinsA weird mix of excited and nervous for this one... if Wycombe have indeed been trying to change their style of play this season, that could play into our hands! COYR 🐏

Suggested him a few weeks ago... very talented lad; quick and left footed so gives us a different attacking option (whether out wide or as a #10). Be interested to see (if we did sign him) whether it would be on loan or on a permanent.
