Globally, of course we're tiny but local news is still relevant.
Where I live, it's mid way between East Midlands and West Midlands, so when the EM weather comes on, we're just off the left hand margin. When the WM weather comes on we're just off the right margin.
At our 'hideaway' on the Somerset/Devon border, same situation. midway between Points West (West of England) and Spotlight (South West), if you can work out which is which.

It's coming home. The team bus, that is.

Only 3 of the 12 Nation League North matches survived the weather. Bizarrely, one of them is Buxton.

Same happened to Buxton away at Ipswich. 1700 on the Sunday and not on TV in this country.
Nightmare journey to get there, and especially the return trip, by any mode of transport, and there was a rail strike that weekend. Considering the pedigree of the opposition, it was the biggest match in the club's history. You'd struggle to make it up.

So what's new? It's an EFL selective rule.

A fantastic business opportunity missed, and just before Christmas. You would have thought.....well, maybe not.

Not even a Barker type fee?

It was probably worse in the late 60s with the sympathy from the Busby babes/Munich and winning the European Cup in 68. Add names like Bobby Charlton and Best to the mix as well….
Remember QVC? Albert Quixall, Denis Viollet and Charlton

So we are taking part in the “blast off” which is an opening day double header to take place at Edgbaston.
We give up our home game against Lancashire, but tickets for it are included in the membership and blast pass packages.
I suppose it's a good thing that they are doing something with the T20, and not just ignoring it completely in favor of that other rubbish.
Mickey certainly sounds excited about it.

It wasn't the rain that bothered us most on the PopSide!

I see Martin Guptill hasn’t played ( apart from fielding ) in the T20 World Cup and not in the NZ test squad. Would take him back at Derbyshire if available.

What is the Emirates Cup? Are we in that? I hope not, we have the FA cup and League Cup this week which is more than enough.
Actually, it's the 'Emirates FA Cup'. I believe Torquay are in it.
The powers that be, in their infinite wisdom, have re-arranged Buxton's away trip to Ipswich to the highly inconvenient time of 5p.m. on Sunday. This is because it's to be televised. Overseas.
You couldn't make it up.

Diddums.
As the saying goes, it taks one to know one.

Burton, Buxton and Chesterfield though to Round 2, none of them conceding a goal.
Is this an omen?

Non-job of the Week - 2004
in The Jim Smith Room
Posted · Edited by Phoenix
Saw the thread about Career advice and remembered cutting some 'ads' out of the Daily Telegraph, probably 2004, under the heading Non-job of the Week.
Here's the first. Bear in mind the salary equates to c. £43,000/44,000 in todays money.
