The most amazing statistic from the game is Hargrave of Shropshire carrying his bat for 69*, and in the process notching up a truly staggering 77.5% of his side's runs.

Took me a while to find it but I definitelty remember this, probably mid 1970's so 'modern era'.

Glenn Turner scored 141 not out, out of 169 (all out) for Worcestershire v Glamorgan. A modest 83.43%.

No-one else got into double figures, 3 ducks and 1 extra.

    *Looked it up, 1977.

What gets me, they bang on about everything being about producing for the England team. Then put all their efforts into a form of the game no sod else plays, and doesn’t have an international version.

I understand the bringing in new fans element, it has worked for my sister in law, who went to a hundred game last year, and is now cricket mad. I just don’t see why that couldn’t have been achieved by putting all that effort into the T20 competition. Chuck the money at that. Allow 4 overseas, play it in august and have the England players available, change the format if you need to and get games on the BBC, tell the clubs to have flashy rebrands if that’s what you want.

    Sorry, no. Far too sensible.

  3. Had a peep on the Foxes forum, a lot of self-entitlement, but several commented on our goal (favourably). A few thought it was a good crowd atmosphere and one of the more enjoyable 'friendlies'.

One comment stood out during one of their better spells. How accurate it is I don't know but he said 'That's what £150 million gets you'.

Comparing that with our £150,000, were they really 1000 times better?

Not really DCCC related, and not really in DCCC's best interest that Glamorgan won, but for Leicestershire to post a 1st inning total of 584 and lose by an innings must be some sort of record.

    Oh dear, how sad.

Answered my own rhetorical question really, but these are test matches.

Always 3 sessions, even if it means one of the sessions ends up being 15 hours long like today.

The forecast suggests plenty of rain about tomorrow.

I really meant 8 sessions from the start of the 1st of our innings. Wasn't sure about the local weather, I'm on holiday in Somerset, very little rain forecast for a day or two.?

Good to know my season ticket money isn't going to be used for fueling a fraudster's private jet.

BS baffles brains yet again. What kind of human being spends company money on his fake rich man lifestyle yet can't afford to pay employees on time, who might only be weeks away from losing their homes.

Thank god he couldn't prove the funds. If Peter Risdale saw through his smoke screen then Quantuma need to be held accountable.

For employees read pensioners. Robert Maxwell. We seem to attract these guys.

Yes he was the stand-out player. Very clever and brings other players into the game and is a presence even when he hasn’t got the ball he occupied the defenders. Hourihane too was like quicksilver playing “liquid football” all around the park with a wand of a left foot. Collins looked ring rusty. Max Bird looked superb and his long-range passing, arrowing down the flanks with seamstress’s precision. Knight and Thompson have both beefed up and Thompson danced his opponent into submission with clever turns and quick feet.

Pride Park pitch was lush, flat and even, with the ball moving over the surface with speed and even bounce.

No. 1 new keeper kept out a certain goal 2nd half and Scott Loach got a Vg reception when he came on.

A hot day, several pleasing Brunswick beers, liquid football at Pride Park and a 1-0 win for the Rams. If Carlsburg did Saturdays…

You are Stuart Hall and I claim my 30 pence

The other side of it is next season - what happens if we play Davies and Chester all season and go up, and then they both leave or retire? We’re back to square one and have Cashin who’s sat on his backside for 12 months learning nothing.  Honestly, we’ll be in a much better position if we spend an extra season at this level, and go up with a load of youngsters established in the team, than go straight up and have half the team retire on the spot.

If I'm not much mistaken, this is what Coventry did in Div 1. Played a load of academy players and youngsters and didn't really look back. They were flirting with the Championship play-offs for a short while last season.

  9. Puts me in mind of Mark Cavendish, different skills set obviously, but I remember reading about this lad Cavendish(GB) winning sprints in quite big races at the age of 22, so, who knows, we might have another gem in the GTs.

As long as you're better than the Chinese lad playing Christmas Carols on a Chinese trumpet in Leicester.

The busker I heard in Exeter was totally amazing.

On topic, hard league with lots of grafters. We'll do well to make top 6. Mind you, Buxton gave  Morecambe a hard game in the Cup.
