Roos 7 - although his Cruyff turn gave me a heart attack, he was pretty solid. Dealt with high balls fine & their few forays well
Byrne 7 - much better defensively than at the weekend & got forward a lot more. Still looks slightly muted compared to last season though
Buchanan 7 - just about managed to contain their right side although needed help from his winger. His driving run led to the goal
Davies 8 - excellent all game. Just knows where the danger is before it even happens & deals with it
Jagielka 8.5 - an excellent full debut. So much class on the ball & wins everything. Great signing
Bird 9 MOM - absolutely superb game. Bossed that midfield - passed through the lines & over the top to great effect, conducted everything & was fantastic defensively both with his interceptions & even a couple of meaty tackles
Shinnie 6 - had a weak first 30 mins where he nearly let their lad in down our left (but they over-ran it) & another poor pass a bit later getting us into trouble. Improved thereafter but his ponderous nature at odds with the fluidity around him. Obviously made a couple of crunching tackles late on which seems to have swayed some opinions on his display
Morrison 8 - such class on the ball, drifts around the pitch looking for space & so inventive. Too good for this division when he's on it
Sibley 7 - started well & liked his interplay with the other front players but faded as the match went on. Also felt he could have offered a little more defensive cover at times
Jozwiak 8 - well done Kamil - much much better that. A persistent pain for Hull especially first half, so unlucky to hit the post & panicked their back line with his direct running. Worked much harder defensively too
Baldock 8 - exactly the type of front man this system needs (and I say that as a massive Kazim fan). Worked hard, moved around constantly creating space & scored the all important winner
Forsyth, Stretton & Stearman - 6 - all did steady jobs coming off the bench to secure the win

Agreed, think Lawrence will be recalled and Sibbo will be dropped unfortunately. How much better do we look without Lawrence 

I agree, and I fear we'll be worse for it.
Wasn't Sibley's best performance last night I felt, yet he was still always a nuisance and involved with most attacks. 

Intelligent movement up front, another techinical player in midfield and a cb comfortable on the ball and suddenly Bird looks a load better?
I for one am shocked at this turn of events.

<Yawn>.  As I said before, it's bizarre that some posters seem to be believe that all opinions are lightly held, change with the breeze etc.  Yes, it's great we finally have a win.  Have I changed my mind that they should both go?  No.  And it's probably just a coincidence that Sibley was started, I guess.

It's hilarious that some would choose to crow now after the truly majestic and awe inspiring achievement of winning our first game in 10 league fixtures. Do I need to remind you about the infamous play off thread from last year?
I'm quietly hoping this will signal the start of an improvement in results and performances. I'm very pleased with the signings of Baldock and Jagielka and I think they'll both play important roles if they can stay fit.
In my opinion this has pretty much been the case whenever he's been dropped or injured, but he always seems to walk back into the team straight away regardless.

Based on last night it will be interesting to see what starting 11 is picked for the next match assuming others are available

I don't get this 'life ends at 35' stuff. I wouldn't ever have classed myself as anything other than a moderate club runner, but I did manage 3 sub-3 hour marathons between the ages of 48 and 51 and a further 3 sub 3:06.

Not at all, long may Wazza prove me wrong.....we have played 3 of the weaker teams and got one win so I won't get too excited just yet. Give him 10 games and see where we are then eh??? We need 2 wins in our next 2 as September looks a tad difficult......

Great performance. Special call out for Jozwiak and Sibley who has something to prove and did it in style. Sibley’s control of himself was notable. Jozwiak had some lovely skill.
Plus Bird, another who has been criticised, so in control.
Very happy this evening.

Jagielka and Davies were amazing. Baldock lead the line very well and pressed defenders into mistakes. Jozwiak was very positive. All around great performance and huge win.

I'd rather we went down trying and playing like this than the defensive crap we have seen up to now under Rooney.
This is much better Wayne,we just need a goal.

Is Stretton going to be the new Sibley? Always bringing to the team what we having been crying out for, but then benched or dropped.

Like others have said, man for man, we should be better than Hull.
But the same was true against Peterborough.
These are the kind of games that should be favourable, even with our current squad.
However with Rooney’s coaching and tactical nous or lack thereof, I can’t help but feel that we’ll contrive to lose this game.
Let’s hope not because a win would be a huge boost going into back to back home games.
But a narrow loss seems very likely. We just always find a way to let ourselves down defensively.

Infuriated at Rooney blaming the team for poor game management at the weekend, it's not just the players, you made stupid subs and dodgy tactics.

I don't know what to make if the lineup other than I'm pleased about Sibley coming in.
Will be interested to see how the "new" boys go on especially baldock.
If agree that I would have liked to see stretton get a run but too .Amy games too easy may have had a detrimental effect on a young player too.
Let's see how we go and how Wayne both sets us up and how he manages the game tactically.

Let’s hope Sibbo is played to his strengths instead of isolated on the wing while we lump it long ball up to Baldock.
