It hasn't upset me I just don't see the value in this kind of video that operates as nothing more than a pr exercise for a manager who hasn't been able to buy us a win over the last 25 games.

Rooney himself in the film calls it a documentary David. If it's behind the scenes and an inside perspective on what is happening then it's perfectly valid to label it a documentary. After-all documentaries often need sources that are beyond the reach of the common person to make their films and Rio is documenting things that are going on at the club i.e., a documentary.

why shouldn't the win stat be carried over? Just because we're into a new season doesn't mean we automatically forget about past form and stats. It doesn't magically become a clean slate where all is forgotten unless you do that with every other manager and everyone is just judged on the season rather than prior history. Losing and winning are habits that are easily picked up and we're in a bad habit of accepting terrible results.  If you don't want it carried over our win ratio this season is 14%.

we're on 1 point per game which is almost exactly where we were last season points wise and we've played 4 of the bottom 6 teams in that run. He'll be given a break when he starts winning games for me. Yes of course you can, I'm just giving my point of view which is that I'm not particularly sympathetic to this kind of video that glosses over what are severe problems at the club as Rooney's pal goes on about how great he is and how lucky we are to have him.

Bielik was injured under ‘my boy’ Cocu.
    I’m not even criticising Rooney.
I’m defending Cocu when people say Rooney has had it much harder, or any other criticism that has gone his way.
The comments re Rooney are simply because people are comparing them both.
I’ll stick up for Cocu all day long as I genuinely liked the guy. Yeah, the football at times wasn’t great, but he’s the only manager we’ve had since Nigel Clough that has put Derby first before personal ambition.

Deej reacted to Leeds Ram in How many more points required?
If we get a points deduction of -12 then we'll have to try and find 59 points. A feat that this squad and manager simply aren't going to be capable of unless something drastically changes. I'm not even optimistic we'd survive a -6 point deduction at this point. But, as I said in a previous post I think the likelihood of us going down is probably 50/50 as it is anyway. The lack of squad depth enforced via the embargo meant it was essential we got off to a good start, get points on the board and then as we falter as the grind begins it'll be a softer landing. But we haven't done that really and have only managed 1 win from 7 games and 4 of them have been against teams in the bottom 6.

Atm I can't see us winning this or many games as we simply don't do enough going forward. Stoke are in good form and O'Neill is no mug as a manager. I'd take a point right now but at some point we've got to start winning games surely...

Typical of the lack.of balance on this forum - one good game and he's a world beater, one poor game and he's garbage.
We already knew before the game last night that Roos was a good shot stopper but doesn't command his area at all, is not comfortable with the ball played back to him and drops the occasional high profile ricket.
Nothing has changed from this since last night.

documentary where the boss' mate goes on the 'inside' and stunningly finds everything is hunky dory at a club that has won 2 games from their last 24 and won once this season.

What is it about Wayne that makes you go to lengths of using these convoluted arguments to try and prove a point to justify your criticism?
See the way I see it is at least he's had the stones to stick around in the face of an absolute car crash situation, still managing to motivate a team of scraps to try and survive. We could be far worse off, after all it was Wayne that signed Gregory and got Bielik back playing to his best here. Bielik looked totally lost under your boy Cocu.

The beauty of that was, The Ref pointed to where the throw should be taken from and yet they still moved 5-6 yards forward, But then again in injury time when the Ref spoke to one of their coaching staff for Byrne pinching a few yards, The play was held up for 30seconds, The throw should have been taken in our own half but ended up being taken after a run up in their half.
Wasn't there some sort of word from the authorities to STOP! using a towel when cleaning the ball a few seasons back? they could only use their shirts.

Seems to me Cocu regarded Mel as the boss and did his bidding. I reckon he had loyalty to the guy who paid his wages and loyalty to the club. Call that gutless if you want.
Time will tell where Rooney’s loyalties lie, the jury is certainly out on that. Right now his interests lie in staying put

True but tactically he can. It was a change of tactics that helped the defence last night. Not a change of personnel.
The front four of Lawrence, Sibley, Morrison and Jozwiak worked really well in the first half against Forest.
I'd go with that or maybe Watson in place of Morrison, and drop him back into CDM (as I said in the "rate Morrison" thread).
Without CKR/Martin centre forward to hold the ball up, false number 9's, interchanging, high movement, slick passing is the way to go.
I saw your comment about preferring that to having CKR, because he doesn't have the flicks of Martin. True but CKR or a forward that could hold the ball up (not Baldock or Stretton) would have helped against West Brom to stop the ball keep coming back so quickly and mounting the pressure.

Roos 8 - excellent particularly second half. Did feel first half he was a little rooted to his line at set pieces but his punches were just far enough for us to clear
Byrne 7 - obviously part of the fantastic rearguard with clearances in the box & interventions but sat off his winger too much early on - bit more urgency to stop/disrupt crosses needed. They constantly came down his side second half & he wasn't able to stem the flow
Buchanan 9 MOM - thought he was outstanding. So many key headers & blocks and to think he doesn't even play CB normally
Jagielka 8 - a fantastic shift against some real power & height
Davies 8 - get the feeling he loves these games. Great in the air as usual
Shinnie 7 - perpetual energy & some crucial tackles. Passing was poor though & often invited pressure by handing possession straight back to them
Knight 7 - great shift especially considering his first start of the season. Struggled to put his foot on the ball also
Sibley 7 - really difficult for him given the lack of service into him & strength/athleticism of their defenders but thought he made some probing runs to release pressure. Came back to offer defensive help & held the ball up a couple of times also (hope he's actively working on that)
Jozwiak 7 - bit like Sibley really. Had little to work with but looked quite threatening when had space. Worked hard defensively
Williams 8 - an excellent full debut. Just turned 18 & against a team of absolute athletes he coped really well (especially against Phillips). Couple of key interventions in his own box (one far post nudge to stop a tap in) & some neat touches up the park. Will forgive him that flat footed response to their diving header late on
Baldock 6 - didn't get a sniff all night but worked the channels & kept their CBs honest

One game in 6 that he's turned up in.
Which basically sums up Lawrence since he's been here.
    Where's he been since?
There will be another game soon where he may turn up, play well, score a goal, and then disappear again for 8-10 games.

Don't think Lawrence can have any complaints whatsoever in being dropped. He's offered us absolutely nothing in most games.

I didn't want him sacked at all, his objective was to integrate the young players from the academy into the First team, that doesn't happen overnight or even over One season, but it was beginning to work under Cocu that was evident on the pitch, then again he is an accomplished manager. Now we have a rookie manager in charge trying to play PL tactics with lower championship/league One players and we see the standards of the youngsters now regressing

Gutless? Cocu was immensely brave with playing the youth. Placed far more trust in them than Rooney has.
He was obliged to play Rooney. He didn’t have a choice, other than walk away.

Only one who made a difference? Rooney won ZERO games last season from Feb onwards without Gregory starting.
Gregory starting accounted for an extra 10+ points. We would have been relegated without him.

What? Cocu didn’t have Bielik, Gregory, Edmundson, Mengi, Roberts or fit CKR.
Rooney also hasn’t been handicapped by having to play an fat, unfit 35-year-old.
    But let’s not remember that...

Our best performance under Cocu came when Rooney wasn’t even playing. The 3-0 win over Blackburn.
And at the beginning of last season, the draws against Cardiff and Forest were encouraging. We should have won both. Rooney wasn’t in the XI.
Rooney comes back into the side and we’re overrun again. Not a coincidence.
