Depends how you see it really, 8th place in a pretty poor league. More importantly for me, pretty poor football.

There will be people saying 'don't overreact', 'it's just one game', 'needs more time' if (more likely when) we are still in this position in January. Or April. Or next January come to that.
I'd love things to come good, but the idea that doubts about Warne are 'knee-jerk' with all the evidence we now have are ridiculous.

You're no different from the people you criticise. Making the same posts on every thread bemoaning how terrible the forum has become and how negative everyone is... why don't you practice what you preach and actually mix it up a little bit.
Btw, I couldn't disagree more on the idea that your 'mood is what you make of it'. You can't just will yourself out of feeling miserable.

Clearly wrong since they are not choosing to be negative if the negativity goes away with good performances. Its stimulus - response. Those who are positive about the team regardless of performance are the ones choosing their mood. It's very rational to make negative comments about poor performances.
You comment too much on other posters rather than just talking about the football. Some might call it preaching.

I'm a little surprised about the performance. I genuinely thought we turned the corner and found a system that works well that blends our technical players and Warnes simple tactical play. I thought the lads strolled up, didn't take their chances and Cheltenham quite rightly had a bigger hunger due to them not wanting a horrible record in their history book. We completely underestimated the opposition and that's why we didn't win.
Warne has to back his team in post match interviews, you can't in this day and age be critical of your own players in public and expect any changes. Thought he came across very arrogant in the Radio Derby interview. Some of the questions were a little awkward but I don't appreciate the sarcasm when talking about putting Bradley on to win a goal from a set piece, over potentially putting Sibley on the pitch. No need for it, stupid remark. Gained nothing.
He seemed far too happy about a point gained and protecting the unbeaten run. You've got the biggest wage budget in this division, the best resources by far to get this club to the Championship. If you can't put in a half decent performance against a club who's top earner probably earns less than our lowest paid squad player, difficult questions are going to be asked by folks. As much as want us to go under the radar, we're a big favourite for promotion. There is nowhere to hide.
I keep hearing Warne going on about the league table, another naff result and we're stuck in mid table. The main positive however is we're unbeaten, that's what the manager is clinging on to. Without this, he would be getting more negative criticism from the supporters. We've got plenty of winnable games this month, we have to start pulling away from the rest of the pack and asking questions of our promotion rivals.

I have no issues with fans booing at the end of a game if it genuinely hasn’t been good enough or saying that it was rubbish for example. Fans don’t have many avenues to make their thoughts known.

I do think personal abuse and F’ing and B’ing at players and the manager is unacceptable and shouldn’t be happening. I don’t think Warne is doing a good job but I don’t think I need to insult him personally because of that.

I think we’ve demonstrated that we can show unity in recent seasons but the difference there is it felt like every bit of talent was being squeezed out of the ragtag teams Rooney was having to put out. Don’t forget we’d have stayed up without the points deductions with academy lads and frees that no one else in the division wanted.

I’d be surprised if that same level of unity didn’t return the moment that we start to see the same level of return on the talent in the squad.

My support for derby is unconditional. My enthusiasm isn’t.

Well Paul Warne's post-match interview opened a few eyes, and cause a few more to roll heavenwards, no doubt! The first surprise was that a Radio Derby interviewer aske some awkward questions - I didn't think that was allowed! Well done, that man! Also, that Paul Warne was worried that Cheltenham had "overloaded" the midfield, so he chose to avoid it - memories of Monty Python's "Run Away! Run Away" spring to mind. This is against the bottom team, in League 1 who have virtually no performance to speak of all season. They are supposed to be worried about us, not the other way round. So we decide to favour long balls into the channels, and loads of crosses into the box, against a team full of big, tall men. We did show some promise in the first 45, but chiefly when we played the ball on the deck. But overall it was a team packed with gorillas who played the football.
The second half started much, much better, largely because of young Mr Bird, who clearly doesn't listen to team talks, because he had no idea at all that were supposed to be by-passing the midfield! And suddenly the team was buzzing because the ball was being played where God designed football to be played. It's all there in Hezekiah chapter 4 verses 2 - 10, and chapter 6 verse 7. And so it went for about 10 minutes or so, until the Cheltenham boss decided to make 3 substitutions, further flooding, or "overloading" the midfield, and snuffing out Bird's influence. Were you watching, Paul Warne - they saw what had happened, and made some changes to counter what we had done. OR is it too much to ask for Warne to change it up again during the same match, let alone ju8st the once in the season so far? We actually did nothing much, until the substitutions later on. But they changed nothing, because we got Washington coming on to o what was already not working, and we got Hourihane, who played like Hourihane tends to.
The real issue, as I mentioned earlier, and in other threads, is that were are playing the Number 10 role with someone who isn't a Number 10, so we are weak in the key area of trying to unlock the defence, either with a great through ball, as Max Bird showed, or someone who can run at the defence and force them into an error, or break right through them and have a go at goal. Nuff said on that. As for Collin's chance in the dying moment - he had more room to the keeper's left, as he was expecting the camera shot into the top corner. Collins should have "Bladdered it" (how about that for a Graham Richards-ism?!) low to the keeper's right. Oh well.
We also heard from Warne that we didn't do enough in the first half, an admission he has made before now. Curiously I was of the opinion that the players were played to perform for the full 90 minute plus, not the 30, 40 or 45 they tend to dish up when the mood takes them. Unless they are disillusioned because they know what they are capable of, but are restricted by the pattern (I use that term loosely) that is being imposed on them.
I know some people were expecting a cricket score, and in many ways it should have been, but in reality a 1 - 0 or 2 - 0 would have been sufficient, because this lot were beatable. All it needed was for us to play to our strengths, with a proper number 10, and keep the ball on the deck. Oh well. Onwards and same old, same old.

That's interesting stuff, a couple of observations from me.
A fair few of our academy graduates are no longer youngsters and have progressed to being just footballers, I like that. But the first graph demonstrates the "academy gap" that has been created by administration, with a lack of depth in the current "breaking through" age group.
Our second figure of 15% would undoubtedly be higher except for injury, with Bird, Thommo and Sibley particularly lower on match minutes than would have been expected otherwise.

We rank 18th for league minutes given to players ages 21 or younger, at just 12.9%.
    The top 6 are: Reading (47%), Wigan (40%), Bristol Rovers (32%), Charlton (32%), Peterborough (31%), Wycombe (29%)
We rank 5th for league minutes given to academy graduates of any age, at 15.4%.
The top 6 are: Wigan (42%), Reading (37%), Charlton (36%), Leyton Orient (16%), Derby (15%), Port Vale (14%)
The black dot is where we sit compared with the rest of the league

For comparison, this is where we were towards the end of the 20/21 season

Interesting to see if people have changed their view with regards to game time to youngsters...

I’m not saying he should be sacked but I am saying there’s enough for me to be concerned.
It’s not this one result. As others have said, a one off result you can accept if other results and performances are up there. Nobody at City were calling for Pep’s head after they lost to Watford. Portsmouth drew at Cheltenham as well but other performances and results mean they can shrug it off as a bad day.

We are having too many poor performances and average results which then changes the context of this result.
Also, and this is a personal opinion which people may or may not agree with but I find the idea of getting it wide, putting in crosses and focusing on set plays (get a bonus day off if you score from one) to be really basic football. And people might say that’s how you play in League 1 but I don’t buy it and it also means, as someone already put, that if you do go up what happens? Do you try and completely change your football and undo all the coaching you have done?
I’m not saying he should go now but the signs aren’t great

The criticism has died down for various reasons.
We are playing better football in the last 2 games, so some of people's concerns are being assuaged.
We've won 2 of the last 3, as BC says, 3 points shuts people up.
Also, many who weren't happy are tired of the kick back, especially post Carlisle when we didn't play well but won and those commenting got the result thrown at them.
From my point of view, I'd like some more control in games, but Nyambe and the return of Bird and Barks have improved matters. It wasn't personal for most critics, it was based on what we saw.
As Maynard Keynes wrote, when the facts change, I change my mind.

My take for what it's worth, I don't believe for a second that any fan would be upset by last nights result.
We all want Derby to be successful, however we all have different ideas on how that can be achieved.
The more vocal and extreme calls for Warne out, will create a stronger defence for Warne on the other side.
What happens is both sides become so distant where no middle ground can be found, you end up with this told you so, where are you now, can't moan now type situations.
Happens all over, not just this forum, not just football.
Whilst we're all mostly anonymous behind a keyboard, things will never change whilst we have a manager that splits fans as Warne and the likes of Rowett did.

It was a good win, hopefully those who doubt Warne saw some of their concerns addressed tonight, those who back him can feel smug without rubbing it in and everyone in between too, then we can all just enjoy a great win for the Rams 🐏
