Must be a few.  Possibly time to start saying you can have the money but have to have a legacy of starting on minus points for every X amount of million you take.  If not, Ipswich will be very much the exception.   Bournemouth had a  wage bill of about 71 million and 60 million quid of forwards last time around with a 9k attendance.  It's gone crazy. 

FFP means the parachute clubs can have bigger budgets. We are more restricted.
We have a very good owner but not a crazy rich, big spending owner. They will outspend us.
We will probably have a mid table budget. Last year it would seem we had a top 2 budget. 
Therefore a top 6 finish is unlikely. Not moaning, it is what is is and I hope we can finish mid table.

Ipswich Towns success is a good story, and sometimes things just fall into place, like when Leicester won the Premier League. Derby's immediate future is about re establishing as a Ch'ship club. So keeping out of the drop zone is the primary objective next season, and mid table the following season. Beyond that, maybe the club will push on if significant investment comes into the club. It should be fresh in everyones minds that the club has been selling some of the young talent to balance the books.

Take note I'm about to ramble on a subject of which I know little but hey, what's new?
L1 had a financial model that suited a club our size relative to others there. We were under imposed additional restrictions but our turnover was still such that we could be really competitive.
In the Championship isnt it the ol' 3 year P&S malarkey? Taking the 2 seasons in L1, DC will need to be careful that those losses added to this coming season dont breach. Tin hat or not, the EFL will be very interested in our conduct, given our history with them. I would imagine any kind of breach would result in swift retribution ... I mean correction. 

Ben Gibson has been released from Norwich, he would be the perfect replacement for Bradley in the heart of that back three. A position where you need an experienced player. He’s 31 and has played 35 times this season for playoff finishing Norwich. 
 
Sam McCallum has also been released from Norwich and is a good two way full back for that left wing back position. He’s also only 23 with over 100 championship games already under his belt. Certainly a player I’d be looking at.

If we want to be top 6, we are likely to need a conversion rate of circa 10%.
If we want to be mid table, starting at around  10th place, we will need an estimated 9% conversion rate.
In my opinion we need a higher quality, younger striker.

If we are in a relegation scrap we'll have fans howling from the stands that we've not spent enough money.
If we somehow manage to flirt with the playoffs we'll have fans lauding how we have done an amazing job on a shoestring.
Such is the way of it.

Fans will be more restricted, Puma shirts are cut a lot tighter than Umbro, going to be some horrors walking round Derby city centre.

We know Clowes will run the club properly, so im not worried that he will pile up debt. It does however mean that recruitment needs to be spot on. Frees and loans will take up the bulk of this window and im happy for that

It does worry me looking at the table about who we can compete with financially. There are some very well-funded teams just hanging around lower mid-table.
It is obviously up to Clowes what he choses to put in to the club - he has earned the right to pretty much do as he wants really. The last time we were in the bottom 6 or 8 in terms of budget is when GSE and Clough were in charge and that ended in protests as they were "only" covering £2 or £3 million pounds of losses each year. 

A few of you have mentioned about the struggles of competing against clubs with parachute payments. This isn't new to us. We've only ever known this. However, we are also not particularly competing with those teams, we are competing against those teams who aren't receiving parachute payments, because a realistic goal is to stay in the league next season. We are competing for signings that probably 12-14 clubs in the championship are going for. 

Built well over a few seasons is probably the answer.

Looking back , Sibley has divided opinion over the season . Since his hat-trick V Millwall , I have been a fan of his . But I now have to admit , that even more than Max Bird , a change of scenery would be good for him .

So looking at the retained list we need :
New Keeper 
3 new midfielders 
Winger 
2 new strikers
( assuming Collins& Sibley  stay )
