What keeps becoming apparent is his absolute dogged determination to get it right. It is deep within his eyes - a hypnotic certainty that whatever is thrown at him will not cause him to waver. The very essence of a winner.

Yep - I'm also starting to like this closing ranks attitude, there are still fans that want to criticise the club at every opportunity, plenty on here but I'm a big fan of cluck the EFL and no-one like us, we don't care. Bring it on, life isn't a popularity contest, and neither is the championship ?

I know he's not popular, but Keiran M's comment was "what Morris was proposing doesn't break the letter of the law (in terms of EFL regs), but it is clearly not in the spirit"

That's a great example of what a self important tit Maguire is. The first part of his comment is a fact based statement, the second is 'clearly' just opinion, for an accountant turned teacher, maybe he should stick to facts? At one point ever has an accountant made decisions based on the 'spirit' of the law? Twonk.

BBC used to be pretty much fair and neutral, the 'public service ethos' but not now. Majority of the senior posts are now taken by Tories and Tory Party funders.....hence next to no criticism of the current government.

I agree - I would also add that ALL of our media outlets have a western bias so it is interesting to watch a channel like Al Jezeera sometimes to get a different view on things. Likewise Euronews, France 24 for a none British angle....

Read all the posts on here over the last few days and while i am as frustrated as everybody is with the news coming out of the club i would like to give a big shout out to Wayne Rooney and Curtis Davies , Rooney is fighting a battle like no other manager in recent years has had to , for him to come out and say hes here no matter what gives me a little hope for this season

As for Curtis , well what can you say , after signing his waiver for the last game last season , now signing on for this season at a reduced wage shows what a whole hearted , dedicated , total professional footballer and human being this guy is , hope he has an injury free season and leads by example in a difficult looking season , all the best to Wayne , Curtis and the rest of the players and staff , COME ON YOU RAMS

Spot on - I've got so much time for Wayne Rooney, he's such a strong bloke. Who knows if he'll make a good manager but if he doesn't it won't be for the lack of hard work or determination. The blokes makes mistakes, dusts himself down and carries on. I admire that immensely.

It's the point that Charlie Methvin made on the Sunderland documentary on Amazon - why do you need to care if the numbers add up if you've got someone just pouring money in from the top. That was the model at Derby, punt it for another season and the plan in place to protect us all was never in place. Now that it has happened we're all asking why but anyone who has worked in a privately owned company, of any size, will tell you that if the owner comes into your office and says "this is what I want to do and I'm paying for it" you're in career limiting mode if you turn round and say "actually, while it's just about legal, I advise against that for reasons of financial prudence".

Same in any company of any type - All multinationals will publicly talk about their culture of open communication, challenging upwards etc. The reality is as you describe. Took me a long time to work that out, once I abandoned my 'do the right thing' nature, life became easier....

I know your comment is tongue in cheek but there are some very experienced and knowledgeable people on this site. For me the CEO and we are talking about Stephen Pearce has got away lightly so far.

He is a chartered accountant and a lot of our issues are to do with finance. He is also the operational head of DCFC so it’s his responsibility to make sure it is run correctly. If he was the CEO of any company with shareholders he would be keeping an eye on his taxi pulling up. I have no problem with his as a person but he needs to accept responsibility for the problems we are in.

No doubt - It's just some of the ranting, some of the more personal words people use. Clearly there are people who have no understanding of a CEOs work (being described as managing day to day activities for instance) who are oh so happy to attack an individual. It won't be the proudest item on his CV, that's for sure!

Notts tomorrow. If we are just going to scrape the one win, let it be this one ?

McKiernan, Rampaul and Scrimshaw in the squad. Hopefully fit enough to play.

If so, give Scrimshaw a go, I'm not sure about the 2 young lads opening either, i’d look at dropping Came down the order. He's looked promising knocking the ball around but keeps getting out chasing big shots in the powerplay.

    Team i’d like to see...

    Wood

    Wagstaff

    Guest

    Came

    Hudson-Prentice

    Hughes

    McKiernan

    Thomson

    Aichinson

    Rampaul

    Scrimshaw

Be good to see Scrimshaw and Rampaul back - So much pressure on the young batters though. No offence to Anuj Dal but it would be good to see him given a break as well, his confidence must be shot.

It's easy to get lost in the various accounts and their function behind Derby County. I could get breaking up a few of the various functions, i.e. academy, etc, but when you have 14 different registered companies then it's no wonder people like Andy do a deep dive and try and find links.

I can't imagine we're doing it for fun. You would think there is a reason, good or bad, to why we need to create this web of noise around the club.

It's perfectly normal, most clubs will be doing something similar. ALL large organisations will be operating with a myriad of companies. My former employer, a multinational financial services company had literally thousands of Ltd companies (or their local equivalent) - As I said, perfectly normal.

Sorry, that's incorrect (not the 'getting  walloped' bit). 5 of Derbyshire's best 6 batters in one day cricket are Billy Godleman, Leus Du Plooy, Wayne Madsen, Matt Critchley and Harvey Hosein. All are missing through either injury or the Hundred.

Warwickshire have 15 players unavailable, just saying! They do have a slightly better resources than us though! Anyway, let's smash them!!

From the teams I’ve seen across the competition I wouldn’t say that’s true, most teams are a mix of youth and very senior players, and a couple that would be considered in their prime.

Our biggest problem is no batsmen, only  Came and Wood can be considered specialist batsmen in this team.

Oh definitely, FHP at 4 FFS!!

Oh dear Baldock.  That was dreadful.

Thought we played well against Man U, however QPR are beating them 4-1.

On a positive note, at least Salford aren’t in the Championship

Looked neat and tidy against Man U, less so today but these are pre-season friendlies - There is so little you can take from them. I'm mildly encouraged, whenever we look good in pre-season, we've been carp in the real stuff.
