Did you watch yesterdays game? Did you see the post match interview with the 'sullen teen in a hoodie'? He's burning his bridges setting up an 'us and them' scenario. Where the 'them' includes the fans and players and 'us' being Warne and his cronies.

I don’t think that’s fair. I think some of it is that whatever he did, people would see things to criticise given they’ve decided he’s no good

Also, I do think the reaction of some fans is a bit silly. They’re not exactly rock bottom. They’re well in touch of the top 6 and it’s still early

He always accepts that they need to be better and he understands fan frustration

Fwiw I also think the players are still playing for him

Thought you may have been tbh. I'm super-serous all the time though and don't understand jokes.

I'm left in no doubt that football isn't that complicated, we get told often enough 😃! It might be a little more complicated than some think, though, or else... why all the coaching? Football does move with the times.

I do actually agree on the medium term, I'm not particularly enamoured by most of the suggestions - would prefer a young coach with an excellent reputation but that does represent a big risk. The truth is I have no answer for who should replace Warne or how we pay him off if it comes to that.

Honestly the medium term doesn't concern me nearly as much as the long term.

We may make a change and not see immediate improvement, but I'm OK with that.

I'd even be OK with us letting Warne loose, him joining another League One club and taking them to promotion at our immediate expense. I'd be happy he found a club that suited him, but I'd feel safe in believing we'd soon pass him on his way back down, with us having a healthier long-term plan in place.

I can't speak for others though!

But we made a change to Warne and haven’t seen an immediate improvement and everyone is calling for his head? What makes you so convinced Warne can’t be the man for the long term?

I dunno, it just seems a shame to me to change so quickly when I highly doubt a managerial change will make any difference (we may start to win games but i think we will under Warne anyway)

    ...and that's the problem

Going 15 unbeaten would be no reason for you to post smugly.

That's what some people did last season before ending up with egg on their faces.

Smugness should be saved for when we get promoted.

I was only kidding. In all honesty, I dont particularly love Warne- his obvious dislike for academy players is a particular gripe of mine

I think he’s fine though and, given time, we’ll improve. Football isn’t that complicated and a new manager will probably do no better in the medium term (unless the players are completely rebelling)

As I said, possibly on another thread, what managerial changes have actually improved us in the last twenty years? Maybe McLaren. In my opinion, shows the fallacy of changing the manager at all really

Paul Warnes interviews are so cringe. WTAF - so embarrassing that he takes zero accountability. He’s gone from Cheesey self indulgent and unfunny to petulant, clueless and a total mardarse.

my team don’t fight like dogs .. no paul .. had you ever seen Connor Hourihane or max bird play before?

we have a soft underbelly .. nope I think you do you little princess who has to keep jibing the fans in interviews who are sick to death of watching pure sh@te .. but you want us to keep clapping?

what a shame you didn’t decide to grow when you came here. I guess that’s what DC had hoped for.

you and Richie can blame the fans and players all you want. You must hate it. You don’t know what to do about it and you are banging yours, the players and our heads against a brick wall.

Supported this team since the days of Peter Taylor and have never been so against a manager.. even Phil Brown!

This club, our club is not for you I’m afraid. There will be clubs for you. You can’t fluke three promotions. Our club though isn’t for you. You are not for our club.

if someone else comes in now they have time to work with the squad and assess if they would like to amend it in January.

we don’t need someone with three promotions (though I totally get the logic) we just need someone to allow these players to play. We have all seen that when they rebel and play football these guys can score goals.

I’ve never managed a team whose fans are against the players … we’re not against them you …. It’s you we’ are against. clapping the fans  from near the dug out .. you are so petty and cheap. You begrudge the fans… and your football is crap.
so as I said our club is not for you. You are not for our club.

    Are you okay, man?

Nigel Clough to Stevie mac say no more

He is the only change I remember where it made a noticeable difference to our fortunes (I can remember back to around early 2000s). It says a lot that we’ve changed the manager probably 15 times in my memory and our fortunes never seem to change… if we still had Cocu as Manager, do you think we’d be any worse off than we were when he was in charge?
Changing the Manager is not the panacea people think it is (I am aware some changes were beyond our control)

  6. I’m definitely still pro Warne. I honestly think they aren’t that bad and a run of results is coming. I also think our squad will see us perform better when injuries start to bite from December onwards.

None of you reactionary anti Warners touch my thread 😂

Took some people long enough to realise but Warne is not the right man for this club, who is who knows? But not many managers could do worse, I'd wager if we had Jewell in charge we would be no worse. Won't take much to upgrade him. Could get one of the kitmen in..

I assume you knew from day one, did you?

He bought Eder to play wing back, who is a left back with little pace, who has barely played wing back.

If we have another window or 2 or Warne and it doesn't improve, the next manager has even more problems.

I don't get the blame everyone except Warne, blaming time, players, Rosenoir players characters etc Everyone should take responsibility except the man who is paid to. It's Narcissism by Proxy.

I do agree we need to start controlling games.

Interestingly, im the opposite. I’m always surprised by people’s willingness to blame the manager when there are so many other variables at a club

Well more fool him and more fool those that genuinely believe he will turn it around.

He has lost the players, once you do that there is no going back.

What makes you say that? I sincerely hope the players are smart enough to be a bit more long-term than turning on the manager in this position

What has kept you pro Warne? Is it genuinely anything he is doing or is it not wanting to chop and change managers?

We’ve had 13 months where it feels as though it’s gone backwards. Since February it’s been awful. That’s quite a significant chunk of time to base it on?

My support for Warne is probably down to the fact I think the games this season are a very small sample size (I think it’s unfair to include last season given the squad changes) and we’ve not been as bad as everyone seems to think. People dismiss injuries but we’ve had multiple injuries at any one time and it obviously affects things. People were fuming when Oxford beat us but the performance genuinely wasn’t bad and they’re currently second because you can’t judge a club by its perceived size in this league.

We are in a very salvageable position with a few wins and I think there’s enough quality with everyone fit to go on a run.

My only worry is that he’ll be sacked because the players will listen to the outside noise and it then becomes a self fulfilling prophecy where they don’t perform for him so we inevitably lose- that’s the only way I can see him being sacked

  11. Definitely too early to sack him. If Clowes sacks him, I’ll be shocked. So much time to turn it around and improve. So many other factors other than the manager which affect results.

So many cautionary tales of managers sacked and things not improving. So many where clubs retain a manager and they go on to be successful (many in significantly deeper mires than we are currently in under Warne).

I think we’re about to see a run of results

I'm not sure many will hold their hands up at this stage, even if they did.

Not a criticism, but this topic is already populated by Warne Out members. Any voices in favour would be pissing in the wind now.

I will use the word sadly here, sadly I think his time is up. I'm yet to see a manager come back from this level of criticism in the social media era.

Regardless of style of football, hoofball or keepball, if you're not getting the results to back it your days are numbered.

Fans voices are heard. Yesterday will not have gone unnoticed.

We are in a recoverable situation here with a game or two in hand.

I was honestly expecting a lot more support for Warne on the forum. Im genuinely surprised how much people have turned on him.

I do believe they’ll do enough to get playoffs and it will be very sad if he gets sacked based on the fans’ reaction.

There’s always a few people calling for managers heads after every defeat but this appears to have gone beyond that. Maybe im missing something but I would not be sacking the manager after 1 defeat in 8 games

  13. This has been a fascinating read 😂 I was expecting a horde of pro-Warne posters to surge forth but it doesn’t seem like they exist

Give him time, I say. There’s been good spells, it’s a decent squad, that was our first loss in 8 games. We’ve two games in hand on some of the teams above us (almost all of whom we’ve played), we’ve had some dreadful decisions. We’ve had loads of injuries.

I know people don’t want to talk about the fact we almost died 18 months ago but it’s certainly still a factor- we didn’t spend a penny on transfers in the summer (to my knowledge) and there’s no talent coming through the academy (although in the interests of balance I would say I don’t like Warnes hatred of anyone under 27)

  14. Anyone else still willing to give this time? Don’t seem to be many on the forum.

I don’t think we’ve been that bad (albeit I wasn’t there yesterday). Sounded like we had some good spells in the game though and we’ve had some brilliant performances (Peterborough, Blackpool)

Big squad turnover in the summer so willing to give it chance to come together. We’ve had some bad luck with injuries and decisions which will hopefully turn.

I think some of the anti-warne sentiment is the immediate anger of losing to so-called lesser clubs but, unfortunately, we were always going to lose games across a 46 game season so no need to panic

I'll tell you a little story, I'm a qualified referee, Passed my course in the 90s as A referee told me "if you think it's easy take a course" I did and refereed in the Derby Taverners League(Sunday Morning) You start at the bottom division and work your way up through good marks, I got to run the line in a Cup Final in my 1st year...not bad I thought, You may not be surprised how thick some players are when it comes to the rules, These are the ones who are out on the lash on a Saturday night...turn up Sunday Morning and still half cut and thought they were Paul Gascoyne 🙄

So my story is this, I was refereeing a game Between and older mans team and a younger mans team, The older players thought they could take advantage of the younger lads...only the younger lads were just as enthusiastic and wouldn't back down, One tackle by a younger player embarrassed the older player...the older player(who I knew)shouted for a free kick...I told him he's been at it all game and he got what was fare, He then decides to get in my face(big mistake)and called me a Bast**d, Not having it, So I nutted him, Blood and snot all over his face, A few choice words were spoken by him and the rabble on the side-line, Water off a ducks back as they knew who I was.

Nowt came of it, But that was the last game I refereed as I resigned from the leagues referees, I'm a big critic of officials, It's not an easy job...but some make a rod for their own backs at times by poor performances...no it's not an easy job, But they make it difficult by the performances...ie the Bolton game.

The referee last season I think it was Chelmsford...a female Ref, One of the best displays last season I saw...I wonder why🤷‍♂️
