I think some on here would take a striker from anywhere at the minute!

I liked Waggy generally as a player who gave his all but he missed so many open goals, but Martin 😍😍

Good grief I hope not, we don't need anymore injuries before the start of the season 😛
Decent crowd! This time last year I'd have been there myself but its a 300 mile round trip now 😞 I wonder if they will let us now how many watched on RamsTV as well? Talking of which does Fozzy (or his charity) get a cut of the RamsTV money? Would be a nice gesture if so.

They have signed the strike force of a team who narrowly avoided relegation and failed to score in a third of their games.
In a combined 99 appearances, they scored 19 between them last season.
I somehow don’t feel overly concerned that we have “missed out” on a couple of bang average third division strikers who appear to be near their ceiling.

CBRammette reacted to angieram in James Collins
I do so agree with this, Collins is one of the hardest working players on the pitch. I'm willing him to do well.
I think we'll eventually see him dropping out wide less and less as the other parts of the team start to get their act together.
Bearing in mind that Ward didn't travel to Spain, Tommo is filling in at wing back, Mendez-Laing has missed a lot of pre-season whilst abroad, and two wingbacks aren't currently fit, Collins - and indeed any other striker - can look forward to much better service in a few games' time than he's had so far.

Martin's talents regardless where you stand with him is irrelevant to us now, Collins is the here and now. Sure he has his limitations, like many League 1 strikers.
Still hit double figures and our 2nd top goalscorer last season.
We have nothing to gain by s******* on the guy at every given opportunity.

Well said.
I think when asked about the transfer budget he said, "I have a budget."
Sometimes a better wage negates the need for big transfer fees. Or spending on a transfer fee means there isn't enough in the budget to pay that player's wages.

Collins hasnt won me over yet but totally happy for him to replace Bobby D in my affections. However to be fair to him the standard of our passing/crossing into the box was abysmal last season, being polite. He always worked hard which other players got more credit for. Think he was so desperate to do well, it may have affected his play. Also think that with Sibley - as a Rams fan he is almost too desperate to do well

Just because we have money doesn't mean we have to spend it all right now. Perhaps despite the budget we have there isn't the right value for money out there for us in the market?
This time last year we were neck deep in the consequences of an owner spending for the sake of it. Now our new owner wont spend for the sake of it people are whingeing about it.
I trust Clowes and the club setup as it stands to make the right decisions for the club in the long term.

CBRammette reacted to sage in Is our budget any bigger than last year?
Only one so far is Rooney.
Bird and Sibley are probably our highest earners now along with Hourihane, so I can't see them getting much more. Cashin is the one likely to get a big increase.

Love Warnock and I think Lampard is a bang average manager, but there's no way in hell we'd have had Wilson, Mount and Tomori playing for us without Lampard being in charge. Wilson maybe the only one.

CBRammette reacted to Betty Swollocks in Jordan Rhodes - gone to Blackpool
11 of McGoldrick`s goals came in 4 games. That`s not to underestimate his exploits, but for all his goals, they didn`t actually win us that many points. Plus, I felt, that in the last 3 or 4 months of the season we became too much of a one man team. Our entre system of play had to revolve around him. This, in turn, made us quite easy to play against.
We need more variety this season and the signings so far suggest that we will get it.

I’m still waiting for my only bit of ITK information to turn up in the form of Flint, who I was told was a done deal.

Presumably some budget will go to offering existing players that we want to keep improved longer contracts? Cant see this mentioned anywhere
