That march is quite probably the most signigicant event in the entire history of Derby County since participating in it appears to have convinced David Clowes that if he didn't intervene then we almost certainly would be no more. That thought is frightening!
I've often wondered who the actual instigators of the march were because we, as Rams fans, owe them a huge debt of gratitude.

Reading this piece brings that year flooding back and makes you quite emotional when thinking about it. The bond and unity between staff, players, and fans was unlike any other since I've been a derby fan. The games against Birmingham and Fulham stick out in particular as real 'wow' moments that made you believe there was no way the club could possibly sink under the mountain of debt. 
But it was also the year of doom scrolling at 2.00 am searching desperately for updates as yet another bidder or deadline had been and gone. I'm so grateful to have someone like Clowes at the helm who'll look after the club's legacy and not gamble it on a hope of promotion.

The fee is much less important than the wages saved. Bielik was probably on around 20k a week which at our level is silly money to be throwing away. He didn't want to be here and i think if we're honest most of us would rather he wasn't here either. It's a win win, we can go our separate ways and use that money on productive players who want to play for the club.

what an excellent interview. I love this man and his family. I saw his wife in the toilets at pride park and thought it would be inappropriate to hug her but wish I had!
Hope all those moaning and entitled about everything read this and think on to the absolute garbage they have had to sort in the last year. have patience - it will be so much more special if done the right way

I can't tell you how happy it makes me to finally have a decent, principled man like David Clowes at the helm, rather than some parasitic venture capitalist consortium, a human-rights abusing nation state or a deluded egomaniac millionaire.
No promise of on-the-pitch success could ever convince me to give up what we currently have for any of the latter.
I can't remember the last time I genuinely felt this, but it feels good to be a Ram.

I'll get one as i think even at 0-5 matches last year it'll help me get to at least a couple of the bigger grounds with maybe a couple of smaller ones sprinkled in. Although, i do think £40 is a bit steep for this privilege.

I think, whatever happens, the chances of Prigozhin becoming Russian president are next to 0. There's no way Wagner have been able to penetrate this deep inside Russia this quickly without some higher-level backing or a level of previously unseen apathy. Also, Russia is a massive country. Prigozhin may be able to help start a revolution, but he won't be able to govern the country without strong apparatuses and institutional backing. 

However, this is nerve-wracking. Chaos in a country with such a large number of nuclear weapons and engaged in a war with a neighbour is never a formula for success. Despite this, all we can do is sit and watch what happens.  

He probably thought this was his best play, especially since the Russian government had reportedly fired on their positions before this final turn against the regime. Authoritarian regimes always look strong on the outside, but they can crumble remarkably quickly if they have a credible challenger. Given the amount of forces deployed in Ukraine, maybe if he can get a couple of key challengers on board and a degree of mass support then Putin either has to negotiate or becomes seriously endangered. 

In the short term, it's probably a good thing. It certainly ties Russia up and stretches an already largely depleted Russia. In the long run it's really impossible to judge at this point.
