Intrigues me how this kind of fan stays loyal. I mean, I’m born and bred Derby County, no other team are ever going to be close to my heart. But, it’s so hard being a Derby fan. We’ve got an amazing history, we’re full of stories of dodgy money, rich men meddling, mercurial players being snatched from us, very few trophies and fans of other clubs having a weird kind of hatred for us. But non of this ever matters if The Rams are in your blood. If they’re not and you chose this club, you must be mad!

    Hello Jake!
OK, we will have to set you some deep-learning modules :))
Search and read up a-plenty on these DCFC legends for starters, and then you'll love us even more!
    Steve Bloomer
    The Baseball Ground
    Brian Clough & Peter Taylor
    Kevin Hector
    Dave Mackay
    Roy McFarland
    Igor Stimac
    The Bald Eagle (Jim Smith)
    David Clowes

Then for balance, to understand the true resilience of Rams fans in adversity, look up:

    Robert Maxwell
    The Three Amigos
    Mel Morris
    Quantuma

If you are still determined to be an honorary overseas Ram after that lot, you're as crazy as the rest of us!

Come on, let’s face it, he’s crap. We all know he’s crap.
However we, and  the whole league, are crap so he might end up being alright. That’s how I will end up viewing it . Welcome to Derby!

yeah. I remember seeing figures a while ago saying you can on average get around 1.4-1.6 people per seat with safe standing.

Find it quite underwhelming, if I'm honest. They alluded to a retro shirt inspired by a favourite of the past and we've basically got the same white shirt with a tiny bit of colour on the shoulder.

On the third point, that really isn't true. I've not had a season ticket for 10 years because of financial circumstances meaning I'm not that comfortable making a regular payment or a large one-time upfront payment. However, I've never dipped below 10 games a season and regularly make around 18-20 games. Some months I'll go to every game, other months I'll maybe do 1 at most.

Obviously, our season tickets are sensibly priced but not everyone can afford them.
I'm sure there are also some die-hard fans who can't afford on or can't make it to every game because of family/caring commitments etc.
Also, thinking of the future.......how many of us remember our first game at the BBG or at Pride Park.........and how many first games were with a season ticket?
Making it a closed shop with an all-or-nothing season ticket decision could be a poor long-term business decision.
This isn't a pop at you at all @Gerry Daly as this next comment isn't a reply to yours..........I'm off on a grumpy tangent.......but can we all try to avoid all the "I'm a better fan than you" stuff this season. I've got a season ticket and go to a fair few away games but it doesn't make me any better whatsoever than some poor sod with little money, young kids and ill parents who goes to a solitary Papa John's game.

Truly fantastic support. Pretty sure we've sold more season tickets than forest's average home attendance last time they were down here

He comes across so well in this interview. He's a proper fan with a serious plan for the club. We may have to be patient but we should never forget just how close we were to extinction.

Reading this piece brings that year flooding back and makes you quite emotional when thinking about it. The bond and unity between staff, players, and fans was unlike any other since I've been a derby fan. The games against Birmingham and Fulham stick out in particular as real 'wow' moments that made you believe there was no way the club could possibly sink under the mountain of debt.
But it was also the year of doom scrolling at 2.00 am searching desperately for updates as yet another bidder or deadline had been and gone. I'm so grateful to have someone like Clowes at the helm who'll look after the club's legacy and not gamble it on a hope of promotion.

Never be able to thank the bloke enough.

The interview was really interesting. Interesting to hear he thinks we have a significant budget compared to others in the division. Performing below your budget is (in black and white terms) failure. Obviously football is a different beast but expectations will certainly be high.

That's how close it was. I remember feeling the dread of having no club and the morning after David had been appointed I went down to Pride Park and walked round the ground taking in every detail. I had a coffee and a pastry at Greggs. It was all very quiet. I sat outside and just smiled and relaxed and let the tension of the last few weeks disappear. No matter what the future brings for the club, I will always be grateful for what he did for the club. Looking forward to hearing the interview tonight.
I remember that after we went into administration there were still comments from posters questioning whether or not MM was still behind the scene and pulling some strings. Once David had taken over that could never have happened. But perhaps the question had to be asked just to lay the ghost at rest.

    A squad of 5.
Not getting the rub of the green in those early away league matches.
Defeats to world greats such as Lincoln and Port Vale.
An early exit from the one cup competition we had (realistic) high hopes of "Doing well" in.
The torture of a peno shootout defeat against one of the big boys.
The dampest of squibs against Wet Spam.
The false hope as the new year kicks off with a bang.
The reality of a 3 game losing streak as March turns to April.
One final bouquet of false hope in mid-April, before the dawn of reality rises from Leppings Lane.

    ... Forget all that!
This past 12 months has been an honour to be a part of, and an absolute pleasure... and all thanks to one man!
Not for the first time... I salute you, Mr Clowes!  🐏🍻
