I ask the question, is our team terrible.
Is pw terrible, he got Rotherham promoted 3 times from this league, so I'd have thought we would be doing better.
If the issue is the tactics, how's that possible, considering he got Rotherham promoted 3 times from this league.
We've only played a few games under Warne so we shouldn't jump to conclusions.
The immediate problem in my opinion is the system. We're playing a 352 with players who do not suit the formation. It's square pegs in round holes again. We just look lost at times. To play that system you need proper wingbacks, we don't have any.
He is obviously a good manager, getting a club like Rotherham promoted 3 times isn't luck. The squad we have also has good players. But maybe not the right combination of players at this time for what Warne is trying to do.

Warne needs to stop being stubborn. We don't have the players for a 352. If he wants to play that then he is going to have to dip into the transfer market in January. Until then, play a 433 which suits what we've got. Watching Barkhuizen running back to his own goal trying to defend made me want to turn the game off.

He won't be with us next year/season. Wrong choice for the Derby job and giving him a 4 year contract, what a balls up.
Too early for statements like that I think

Nice fella but a season too long. He's been poor when he's played and was tail end of the last season. Always been a player to mark the all elbows and static striker . He's struggling with that.
He's hanging up his boots at the end of the season

Not a Derby experience without an absolute car crash of some sort happening.
Can't remember the last time we put a solid performance in on a Friday night
Fulham at home last season wasn't too bad

Barkheuizen doesn't want to be running back to his own goal, that's not his game. He is a wide forward player. Warne surely must see this. Get Forsyth on in his place or change the formation.

Penning them in here

Just seen the Fulham goals. How does the pen go in? Should have been an easy save. And Mings practically passes into the net. They clearly don’t want to play for Gerrard.
He's lost the fans and now it seems he's lost the players. There's no going back now. I expect him to be out the door in the next few days

I wonder if Keogh will play

Apart from W.Ham, Everton & Arsenal
I might be wrong but I think that was the OP's point. Judging by the comments on this thread, you would have thought that man city were the only u21 side to win whereas results have shown that they often do beat the league sides.
Nothing to worry about here, it's a poor night but it's a poor competition. Forget it happened and move on to the proper football.

Jason Knight is fine according to Warne

I just can't criticise the players or the performance when it's in a competition that in reality no one gives a toss about anyway. It's the equivalent of getting all worked up over a pre season friendly.

They got beat by Mansfield. Last season they were stuffed 5-0 by Rotherham and lost to Doncaster. A team of professionals with over a thousand games between them, mostly championship level, should be comfortable winners against any team of teenage talent. It's an embarrassing result that probably sets us back significantly confidence wise . Dobbin is the worst one on one player we've had since Tommy Johnson, Thompson needs to go out on loan to Mickleover as soon as possible.
Agree it's an embarrassing result but I don't think it significantly sets us back at all. Our players aren't arsed. They're looking forward to proper football on Friday.

We just need to make sure we're in and around the top 6 going into the new year.
There's no reason we can't make the playoffs at the end of the season. I think that should be the expectation.
Top 2 looks unrealistic at the moment but I'm not writing anything off.
