JfR got a reaction from bimmerman in Conor Hourihane
I don't think it's actually that unusual for older players to do some low-level youth coaching at other clubs while still playing. I'm sure Bucko was coaching the kids here while still a Burton player, wasn't he?

JfR got a reaction from ariotofmyown in Saudi Retirement Home
I think an interesting part of this that doesn't get mentioned so much is that the clubs that are being linked with all these moves - Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli - have all been taken over by the Saudi Public Investment Fund very recently. Only in the last couple of year have clubs in Saudi Arabia been legally allowed to be privatised companies, but it looks like there's a real push on the part of the Saudi state to pump up the status of the league through major investment in a select few clubs before selling these clubs into private hands.
Incidentally, I don't believe that the AFC has any FFP restrictions, which is why they can offer such exorbitant amounts of money with little prestige or revenue. I actually wouldn't be entirely surprised to see some owner in the Championship exploit this at some point. We already see it happen with European clubs, but the FFP still has to be balanced between them. What happens if the same arrangement happens but one of the parties has no FFP restrictions?

"Nottingham Forest target Leeds' Tyler Adams as Steve Cooper looks to streamline his squad"
Streamlining the squad by buying more players. That's a new angle.

This is how I imagine the Norse axeman holding back the English army at the Battle of Stamford Bridge must have looked (one for the history buffs)

JfR got a reaction from SKRam in Live football thread.
I've insisted that if Arsenal were to lose the title race to Man City, it's not really a bottlejob and they've still far exceeded expectations this season, but If Arsenal don't get a result here and Man City are allowed to win the league with three games to go, I might have to change my mind on that.

You really have to worry for them. Feels like rather than things improving for them after administration, it seems to have gotten worse.

JfR got a reaction from ram59 in Bury and Bury Bury the Hatchet
The inactive Bury FC and the phoenix club Bury AFC are planning to merge and return to Gigg Lane. Good news for a club that's been through an awful lot.

Of course if we hadn't cheated Boro out of that last spot, they'd have walked the whole thing
