I agree with the vast majority of what you’ve written, but there is perhaps an element of us not quite being blameless.
While non-linear amortisation is clearly sensible given that many players hold or even increase their value, where we let ourselves down is by not being able to show even the minutes of a meeting where we set the valuations. Even a simple record of “We compared x to the recent transfer of y and deemed that because of the following similarities [a list ….] x has a current market value of £n” would have put us in a much better position to argue the validity of our approach.
It seems that the arguments were not so much “Is this FRS compliant” per se and more about did we show sufficient rigour in our process that it isn’t simply a book-cooking exercise with the numbers adjusted to meet the desired year end figures.
Any scheme where you’re going against the norm is one where you should make sure you’ve got your defence well lined up.
Notwithstanding all that, the EFL is IMHO overstepping its role of setting and maintaining the rules and has strayed uncomfortably into the territory of aggrieved party who can’t see beyond perceived slights to their character.

Surely we could encourage a few more comments ? What is the injury? Then we could ask how long he will be out for….plenty of mileage in this yet ?

    You're right I did cherry-pick.
Bird definitely suffered from second season syndrome last year and was pretty average in a very, very poor team. Knight went the same way in the second half of last season too. My take on Bird is that I expect him to be a good player that may make the Premier League. I think he was the driving force behind Derby's youth team successes and I think he is smart enough to make the grade. I think he is worth persisting with to return to the form that he has shown previously.

Whilst appreciate everyone is entitled to an opinion on a forum, but there seems to be a smug group of fans on here that seem to be wanting the team and manager to fail, as that will prove them to have been right all along.
Whilst Rooney wasn't my choice of manager he is the man in charge and did keep us up when most including myself thought we were going down last season.
He's also been in charge of us during what is probably some of the most difficult circumstances any manager of Derby, and most other clubs for that matter has had to face.
Let's not kid ourselves, it would be a hell of an achievement for any  manager, especially a novice with just over 1/2 a seasons experience to turn things around.
With a poor bare bones squad, no sign of players coming in due to Embargo Plus, and want away Chairman,  not to mention the potential future points penalty, the fact he hasn't yet walked away from the job when alot would have is to Rooney's credit in my opinion.
But these are the cards we've been dealt. So as the season approaches isn't it time for the fans to begin to get behind the team and manager and show some unity at a time when almost everyone is against us.
If that beyond some posters at least try and be constructive with your criticism.

Baldock in attack? Jagielka at the back? Lawrence as captain? Rooney, Rosenior, and the magic clipboard? A kit that says Bolton Wanderers tribute act?
I can only see promotion and anything less would be a disappointment of immeasurable proportions.

I spend a lot of time reading these pages but don't often contribute much so bear with me!
One thing I think we would all agree on is that the club is in a mess and we were very lucky to survive last season. I don't think there's anyone that thinks this season will be any easier.
The EFL in my opinion clearly have an agenda to make this season as difficult as possible for Derby. We are certainly not shopping in the same stores that we used to, in terms of player recruitment and this can be seen by the out of contract players currently training with us.
Now this is where I think we as fans can make a difference. I am becoming more and more frustrated when I read negative comments, especially about players who haven't even kicked a ball yet. For example....
Jagielka was an established premier League defender and with some younger legs around him, COULD become a quality signing.
Ravel Morrison has bags of ability and MAY have matured. The highlight reels certainly show there is a player that has an awful lot to offer if his head's in the right place.
Tom Lawrence has definitely been inconsistent. He has also had a drink problem, lost his mum and suffered personal issues not to mention Joiner Gate! BUT....he has bags of ability and giving him the captaincy could just be the kick up the bum he needs.
These examples could easily be turned from possible positives to negatives.
However I can tell you one thing that is absolutely guaranteed .....and that is that we have the best possible chance of success If we get fully behind the team, remain positive and come together against those trying to knock us down such as the EFL, some other clubs, managers and chairmen.
I'm sick to death of reading negative comments from some who seem to think that we're entitled to success or think it's fine to boo etc as they've 'paid their money '.
We've been in the second flight for a long time now and in my opinion never closer to dropping down another level.
So would you rather be positive and effectively become the 12th Man or be negative and add to the problem? ...and by the way I don't mean moaning that we've not played well. That's part of football and being a supporter. I mean almost personal attacks on players, management and chairman.
Be interested to hear people's views but really feel that if we can create some positivity we may just scrape by this season and give us a chance to move on again in a year's time. ...waffle over!

Must admit, despite using cashless options more and more often over the last few years, (which I'm comfortable with, to be fair), I do still hate having no cash on me.  It just "Doesn't seem right"!
I'm currently down to £35 in my wallet, but only because I helped a mate to pay £140 cash the other day (and he bank transferred it back to me).  That's by far the lowest it's been for a good 20 years!
The annoying thing was, he knew he was paying cash on collection, but asked me if I had any cash on me "To save me going to the cashpoint"!  Now I'll have to go to the cashpoint!
    Cashless ******!  GRRR!  ?

Yes, but in order to process the payments, they need a merchant account, and that makes it very straight forward to identify the perpetrators.  The banks will act pretty quickly if fraudulent transactions are taken like this.
The other suggestion is that your card can be cloned to create a physical counterfeit copy of a card, but the details that can be “skimmed” aren’t sufficient to enable this.
You do of course need to keep a close eye on transactions, but you’re not going to get your account cleared out.

Have a word with your bank.
I believe most contactless card need the pin number entering now and again, for security purposes?  Maybe they can over-ride that, to enable you to always use it as contactless, without the need for a pin number?
Apple-Pay is good... if you have i-phone, of course!  Added benefit of finger-print/face recognition too.
Assuming none of the above suits you, but assuming you do have a mobile phone, add a disguised/fake contact in there, with the last 4 digits being your PIN number (just in case you forget).
Failing all that, just do as I do, and use the same obvious number for everything... 1884!   ?

You need to start looking at options, as this is going to become a thing, rather quickly, I suspect!  Good luck, buddy.

For me, the least you can ask of any owner is they leave the club in no worse state than they find it.
If Mel doesn't meet that standard, his whole ownership has been a disaster.
    No buts, no excuses.
