Tyler and jourdan seemed to go AWOL while things were going pretty well but they are back now..

I seem to recall them being active in good times and bad. Generally well grounded, rational and balanced posts. But that's just my opnion and that is what football is, a game of opinions ?‍♂️ A bit of an unneccesary post though Yani.

O'Hare is bossing the game, Bird anonymous not finding any space, we need to do what Luton did and change shape or something - since the goal we have been 2nd best all over the pitch..

I think he is playing well compared to the rest, broke up play a few times and seems to be the only player he can do a forward pass to a Derby player without losing the ball.

It was a tongue in cheek comment after my previous comments on Rooney and PR.

Acting dignified? Effort? Attempts to motivate players? Isn’t that the least you would expect from a manager in this position?

What is with the fanfare? He’s simply doing his job and what he is contracted to do. And he’s getting paid handsomely for it. He can’t really lose in this situation, so of course he isn’t going to walk away. I can think of 50,000 reasons not to.

No doubt he also knows the importance of getting the fans onside, so of course he will be aware of what to say to hit the right notes. Mel is public enemy 1, so it was an easy punch to throw.

But words are just words. Personally, I prefer to see a response on the pitch, not soundbites. If we see more spirited performances and results like the one vs Stoke, that is something to get behind.

But as it is, he is being given legendary status by some for making the brave choice to hand some bibs out, put a few cones down, answer a few questions, and pick up tens of thousands a week in the process.

Really? Bit exaggerated that. I don't think people are silly enough to see Rooney as a legend just because he is staying on despite the mess we are in, as well as helping the club here and there. I think people are just happy to see some honestly and clarity for the first time in a long time, myself included.

  4. We need to forget about the insignificant little rick. He was probably bullied at school, hence his bitterness. This very small man means nothing to me or DCFC, so let's let him whinge and moan to his heart's content. All it does is confirm he is a vindictive rick, and the owner of a tinpot club that really no one in the north east (or the rest of England for that matter) gives a crap about. Just by talking about him we give him some form of relevance in the footballing world, so let's forget about him, and his name will fade into the annals of footballing obscurity. Whatever happens DCFC will be back and we will always, no matter what be bigger than Gibson and that horrible club he owns.

  5. I wanted to start this thread to formally apologise to Wayne Rooney. I have been one of those who has criticised Rooney heavily and wanted him gone before all this mess came out, mainly during the horrible winless run last season. I now hold my hands up and admit I was wrong and badly so. Over the past few months, and particularly so during the last week, I am increadibly proud to have this man as manager of DCFC, even more so after today's press conference and that the dire state of the club is now revealed to us all. I now honestly think there is no better man to lead us through these dire times brought on by the IDIOT Mel.

Once again, my apologies to Wayne, and thank you for staying on during this mess. Thanks for your honesty towards the fans. Thanks for your commitment. You made me proud to be a DCFC fan today.

If you were a Rooney "out-er" and now wish to atone for your sins, let it all out!

    COYR!

Just been re-reading this topic and I'm just astonished there are those still willing to either defend the bloke or offer up apologetics for him. All of the 'achievements' come to naught if there isn't a club at the end of it and that's exactly what could happen.  As a best case scenario he's loaded up the club with a mountain of debt that cannot be maintained, pretty much guaranteed our relegation to the third tier for only the third time in our history and has arguably irreparably damaged our reputation in the footballing community.

Mel was a custodian of the club and absolutely nothing more, his job was to ensure the survival, maintenance, and prosperity of the club and in that he's absolutely 100% failed. Instead of acting as a custodian, he increasingly acted like the club was his train set with lavish unsustainable spending and big name appointments. None of us knew the true financial state of the club only he and Mr Pearce did it seems, and an owners job is to know when to put the brakes on and when not to. The last thing an owner should do is gamble the future of an institution on the hope you'll get promotion- it's exactly that type of thinking that Risdale had with Leeds that all but bankrupted them in the end.

I won't even mention the completely disgraceful behaviour by Mel towards the staff and fans keeping us all in the dark during this period and his decision to pull the plug. I somehow doubt he'll end up selling his house or is wandering the street with a tin cup in the near future.

Great post, I couldn't agree more.
