I can’t imagine how Morris feels right now knowing he’s made the club that he supports and loves into what it is.

I hope he feels downright awful, and he should. Instead of trying to run a club like on football manager, he should have hired someone who knows what he is doing (i.e Victor Orta at Leeds). Mel deserves no sympathy and all the flak he receives.

EFL regulation 24 covers the fielding of a weakened team in a championship league game see below,

Regulation 24 The Requirement to Play Full Strength Sides in League Matches

24.1 Each Club shall play its full strength in all Matches played under the auspices of The League unless some satisfactory reason is given. In the event of the explanation not being deemed satisfactory the Board shall refer the matter to a Disciplinary Commission which has the power to impose such penalties as it shall think fit.

My preposition  is that if the EFL forces DCFC by means of this Embargo, to knowingly have the Rams field a weakened side at the start of the season, then they will be guilty of breaking their own regulations, and to my mind if we some months later we were able to strengthen the team, and go on a good set of results, we could seriously affect both relegation and promotion in the league.

My view is that given we only currently have without any additional players a team that will find it very difficult to get results, then the EFL is playing with fire, and for once maybe it could be Mr Gibsons team that could be adversely affected.

I am going to write to the EFL to point out they will transgress their own regulations if they do not see sense.

Reckon Rooney will be a better judge of Lawrence's credentials to be team captain than any fan on a football forum.

For pity's sake give the guy a chance.

He has had he fair share of them though hasn't he? How often has he flattered to deceive? Don't get me wrong, I would love it to be a masterstroke and we finally get the Tom Lawrence we know is there on a regular basis, but judging by what we have seen so far in his time at Derby, I just don't think it is the right decision. I seriously hope he proves me wrong and If he does fair play to him and I will hold my hand up and admit I was wrong.

  4. Well, one of the main instigators of the joiners shambles who has no visible leadership qualities is now club captain... When the going gets tough, do I honestly think Tom will be the man to rally the troops, be vocal and drag us through? The answer is no. Wrong decision for me this, I don't think he is captain material. Hope he proves me wrong.

    Not a big fan then.....

Definitely not. I can't support an individual who has singlehandedly mismanaged the club to such an extent. I can't help but wonder if Mel was not local but a foreign owner, would the fanbase stay this quiet about his shambolic running of the club. My money is on protests to out him if it was the case.

  6. Please don't blame Mel and Pierce?! Are you serious? So who are we to blame? The tooth fairy? Mary Poppins? The EFL? Mel and Pierce are the two sole individuals responsible for our current predicament, they run the club for christ's sake (very badly might I add). The sooner they both duck of the better, and I for one will be glad to see the back of them. Totally incompetent the both of them, and I don't give a rats if "his heart is in the right place". Mel has a duty of care and responsibility towards our club. He has failed miserably. Go back to making games, and leave running a football club to people who know what they are doing.

  7. How on earth has MM got involved with this Spanish twit? I mean come on, this is just embarassing now and reinforces the sentiment on just how much of a joke we have become. I am honestly speechless. The level of board room incompentence in the running of this great football club is staggering. We were taking the mickey out of Fawaz up the road, but this is just a whole new level! Please, please scrap this Alonso.
