All empty rhetoric from our leaders. And putin knows it.

Truss on the way home to "make a statement" which suggests that she might stand.

Putin does but she provided more quotes for Russian media than Zelensky!

She should run for his PR manager instead.

It's a bit like when Piers Morgan says something horrible about someone. You instantly warm toward whoever it is.

Surely, surely with all the trade arguments with Ireland and her talk over Russia she can't have enough support.

Obviously no politics on the thread about who we should/shouldn't have but Lizz Truss?

Truss!?! We'd be asking Zelensky for aid by Christmas

  2. I know it's bordering on Politics but surely Liz Truss isn't in with a shout of being PM?

Has everyone forgot her role in this war where she casually made threat and made promises she can't keep.

She sends people to the Gulag and now she's linked to PM?

I guess Russia/Ukraine is old news. The Internet is probably on another crusade now to aggressively fight another worthy cause for 2 months before not giving a flying feck.

(Social media directed rage is included in this post)

  3. I just watched 20 mins of the end of first half of England v Austria women's Euros

Didn't see a free kick, any petulant foot stamping. Nobody died with injuries. Nobody told the ref to feck off. No time wasting. Just football.

    Maybe some football lives on.

  4. How do people keep their composure to continue filming? I'd be too worried about the injuries to drivers, stewards, crowd etc to just calmly film. I think we all secretly love a bit of carnage but maybe just a wing here and wheel there.

Best race of the season. Maybe they should do more racing on actual race tracks?

  5. Does anyone find other sporting interests taking over football?

I mean I know F1 and boxing are certainly full of greedy money men. But I don't think they disguise it as some working man's sport. They don't play it up to 'the fans' as such. Not like football with it's pretense.

And in those sports the athletes can easily go from top to forgotten if they're not dedicated.

I know football clubs have a family feeling that you only get in a team sport but how long can that hold people? (The suits are hoping forever so they can continue the act)

We’re getting busier but it’s stressful atm, it’s like we are on borrowed time in a way.

Only just saw this thread. All the best matey!

Hopefully you don't have to go back to being a sex worker. Those days didn't make you happy

Just seen on Sky sports Barnsley have already started preseason games winning 2-1 at Worksop, feels like we are starting the race from back in the changing room.

We won't need a changing room for all our players. Toilet cubicle will do

Let’s hope we can rise from the ashes and build back a stronger more solid club so we don’t have to feel like this again. I feel at the same point. I feel as a fan I am helpless to to anything or change anything. We have to rely on others to get us out of this mess and just to top it off it feels like the one ray of sunshine that came from all this has left us and that has hurt me.

    Yeah 100%

Whatever people's opinions on Rooney as a manager are I think all can agree as a person he's a fighter. He's faced adversity so many times in his career and comes back swinging. He did feel the perfect fit for the position we're in. The guy everyone could rally around. Now he's chucked it in that's made you think who wants to inherit this mess?

Who's out there that wants a 5-aside team in League 1 at short notice. Kick in the knackers isn't it?

Always liked Rooney. Still do. Can see more reasons for him to go than stay. But really feel quite angry at him. He's done what's best for him but it's not what's best for Derby

I like Alpha he posts as he sees it but he needs to step back and think of the overall picture of DCFCs future.
We survived before with S Webb and we will survive this.
The outcome is a lot better than I expected with DC taking over.
He IMO won’t let us down as he’s genuinely a Rams fan and I mean they.
    Up the Rams.

    You're probably right mate.

Just be nice when you can type Derby County into Google and instantly discover its a football team and not an investment scheme

I have missed you brilliant rants, Alpha!

You should continue more about football overall, there's lot to rant about.

    Haha! ?

Even that waiting for a player to have celebrated and gone back to the dressing room to shower before the linesman flagging for offside nonsense is infuriating.

It's hard to know if we're all nostalgic or if the game is actually past it's peak and is heading down the hill.

Do you think one day people will be like "they used to have a man with a flag that decided offsides! Thank god we have an air raid siren go off when the laser field detects an offside now."

It's so bad now you don't know if you've scored until the ref gets an email back from FIFA. What they doing to this game!!?

  11. This doesn't feel like Derby County anymore

It's been burned down and then the scavengers came to take what the fire didn't.

There's an empty feeling for me. Like a complete defeat. I expect relegation from League 1 but it's not just about that.

I can accept tough times. Bad decisions, relegation, player sales, no money. This is so much worse than that. We're left with nothing to survive with. A couple of buildings and a badge.

We can't even offer people who want to stay that contract. We can't focus on kits, transfer nonsense, fixtures and that often deluded optimistic thrill that comes with August.

We're a business opportunity for a chancer. Quantuma have taken on the club and are so terrible that Mel Morris is asking his wife "was I as bad as them at this gig?"

Seeing Derby County in the news linked to the likes of CK, Alonso and some middle Eastern fella we can't even Google with any accuracy is horrible. Throwing ourselves at the mercy of characters like CK and Alonso.

We're talking up Mike Ashley like he's alright. Spoilier; he's not. He's a tool.

If the Devil bids we'll be like "yeah, but nobody ever gets cold in his realm. And he's kept that place ticking over nicely for 1bn years"

    Excited about a prospect? Gone.

The lie we tell ourselves every year that we might actually be good? Gone.

The first world problems under Mac? The togetherness under Lamps? The budget battling of Clough? The inspiration of Rooney? The weighing up of Rowett? Having to like Billy Davies? All better places than now!

Even Paul Jewell and Phil Brown were only utter rubbish

This isn't rubbish. We can't even gather enough players to be rubbish. Rubbish is literally what we hope to be. Cus the alternative is we don't exist. And to be honest it feels like we don't exist. We're going through all this to salvage a massive stadium that will be half closed soon, a badge and a history that can't be taken from us fans and means nothing to anyone else otherwise Chelsea wouldn't be the only club in the world suffering.

Maybe tomorrow I'll feel different but Derby County means nothing right now. Its exhausting trying to focus on a football club that's so broken, consumed by greed and arrogance and being whored out to anybody who has a few quid to lose.

Rubbish game anyway. With its stupid VAR and weird obsession of messing with rules that were fine when Augustus played for Roma. Blokes rolling around everywhere while the brains at the top can't figure out how to stop the cheating or what to do when they find racism. Just grand gestures made from their morning s**** that fix nothing. Clubs going out of business but let's do a European Super Duper League. Let's have this player worth £150m but that club couldn't pay a fraction of that to exist in our league.

Haven't seen the full show but seen the bit about trans people. Seemed like he was just picking an easy target with very little cleverness or originality, simply because he knows it will get attention.

Love The Office but feel like Gervais is a bit of a caricature now.

Exactly this. I love a good dark joke or something pushing the boundaries or making people uncomfortable. I think there's a lot funny about awkwardness.

But I find he actually plays it quite safe. An obvious trope/cliche. Obvious jokes from an obvious character.

Jimmy Carr is similar. I do like both of them but not so much their stand up.

  13. Beterbiev v Bivol would be amazing

I don't know how Smith Jnr carried on after some of those shots right above his ear. The 3rd(?) Knock down wad a brain scrambler and he still carries on.

But that's the division. Beterbiev, Bivol and then...

    ... hopefully Buatsi.

Yarde 100% gets smashed by those two. With his Mayweather guard he gets clipped loads

Yarde to fight Beterbiev. Can't see that ending well. Buatsi vs Bibol, Yarde vs Beterbiev, the Ruskies fight to unify?

Yarde is a typical Warren guided fighter

Fed easy fights, picks a way through the rankings and then faces somebody on a level they're not used to.

Instead of running from Buatsi he should be running towards him. Who else is he going to use for preparing for those two Russians? Some Latvian ranked 12th with the WBA from Frank's phone book

  15. Egypt is Africa and Asia innit? Each side of the Nile or something like that?

Anyway, is it me or is the season becoming a bit meh? I don't think the circuits lately have helped. Feels like we're watching Horner and Verstappen begin to cruise to smug victory

Has Dillian Whyte hacked your account again @Alpha? I quite like Buncey tbh, and the show he did with Mike Costello was on the of the better boxing podcasts while it lasted. I also loved his history of British boxing, that was a great read - all the memories of Kirlaind Laing, Bunny Sterling, Jack Bodell (from Swadlincote no less) and Maurice Hope.

All I know is his gibbering on TV.

Last night some geezer from Geordie Shore (reality TV show that I think died years ago?). "Geordie Shore is king up there. Its a big deal and they love it"

"He's an MMA star and Reality TV star so the big fights are lined up for him".... he's neither. I can't even remember his name but he's not one of those like Gemma Collins/Mark Wright type people. Just Bunce rambling

Then he was on about Gorman should be pushing for the Joyce fight. He was saying Dubois is stepping into that Whyte, Chisora level.

At the Whyte/Fury fight he was rambling on in the ring so much it looked like Tyson switched off.

The other week at a cruiserweight fight he was talking about a big rematch (it was a good fight to be fair) and it capturing the imagination of the British public. There was like 100 people there. Mostly family and friends. George Groves looked embarrassed.

He just waffles on. Passionately but he just gets further and further from earth.

That's when he's not being a condescending to women or getting called out by boxers for his OTT analysis.

I think its funny how much someone like Johnny Nelson gets predictions wrong but at least there's though behind his words.
