With little potential to make any return on investment, realistically. The only chance any club has of turning a profit is by being in the Premier League, to acquire the club, and get us two promotions is going to take an extremely high investment in time and capital, and if any club should know that there is no guarantee of it working, it's Derby. Very tough sell.

It must be one of the least attractive purchases in football.

What annoys me though is how long it takes to find out who's serious, how long it takes to go down the road before they're like "nah"

100% it's a complex process but how many hours does it take to find out who's real, who's fake, how much it costs and where do I sign.

Hundreds and hundreds of hours apparently.

CK got exclusivity because what? He might have had the money? He offered "reassurances".

You would think that for how slowly we go down every road that no stone would be left unturned. But here we are turning around because we may have missed our turn.

I guess it's way beyond my understanding but I just can't grasp how the urgency doesn't seem to weigh on anybody.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Imagine if these lot were on that job. We'd all be on a very different forum right now.

  2. How can so many months of feck all produce so much "behind the scenes discussions"?

Do they all communicate by pigeon mail?

Like, sure multi million pound deals I don't imagine you swipe your card over a reader.

    I can only imagine these behind the scenes talks are like;

    I have £×××

    Oh can you prove it

    Yes, in 3 weeks

    OK, we'll wait

    Actually, I added up wrong

    OK, we'll count you out

Wait, how much was it again? I forgot

    It was £××××

Oh, I don't want to pay that

Well, just have a think on it.

    Yeah sure.

    We'll wait.

    I'd like to pay less

Well there's other people interested. But we don't like them.

    You like me?

Yes. You seem pretty straight forward.

OK, I'm gonna save up. BRB

(How many months does it take to have a progressive conversation with serious people? Are they limited to 1 email per day?)

It's was definitely Don King, I thought he'd gone long ago tbh.

I've seen him described as a legend this week. A boxing icon.

Personally he reminds me of Leo Di Caprio in Django Unchained.

  4. Is Lewis going to get beat by his teammate this season then? ?

I'm gonna make a bold prediction. Screw you lot. Latifi and Stroll to finish the race.

They have potential to be top drivers in my opinion and if these tracks had a hard shoulder then possibly even world champion material.

Shop owners of Baku, pray with me.

This Daniel Dubois fight is a strange spectacle.

Looks like a parking lot fight, the crowds about the same, yet its been given the big billing!

    I forgot all about it.

Was it between Frank Warren and Don King promotion?

Doesn't surprise me if so. Frank would book a car park and Don would be selling tickets to his criminal empire friends

And being ritually harassed daily (as is his wife) on Twatter for the 'privilege' of saving a football club.

Think your assessment is a tad binary mate. Not pleasant at all for any party bar the trolls who want to see the club fail.

I stopped reading twitter after BLM. Seems everybody is at extremes all the time.

Probably, I just didn't like that guys response to concerned fans who for some Derby is about more than football. I know for a lot it's their only escape and their entire social life.

I didn't even know he'd had grief online. Should have guessed

You need to watch  Rush then buddy. It's excellent. There's loads of great movies based on fact not fiction too.

I haven't seen that. I did try to watch Senna but somebody wouldn't shut up during it.

I'd give that factual ones a shot. Is Rush the Hunt/Lauda one? Is it accurate?

Think there will be a bit of an outcry if Brad Pitt is playing Lewis......

It would be one of those things that would be so funny because it's not funny.

    Like Donald Trump

  9. Sport movies are poo. Sport has real drama. Unless it's like the biography of an athlete etc that tells the story behind the headlines then I don't like stuff like Creed, Goal and whatever other sports films.

I think Rocky is massively overrated.

An F1 movie. Fake drama where 2 drivers go into the last race level on points and it's settled on the last lap?

  10. We're in Orlando now and all bills have the tips neatly worked out for you at the bottom.

Why is it allowed that a restaurant can take tips? That's shouldn't be a thing.

We've been tipping 20% here but at home we don't really tip unless it's deserved. But I'd do that with builders, deliveries and anything if I feel they've done any more than their basic job.

It's weird leaving a tip in a place where so often we seem to be left sat waiting for long periods.

1 hour 30 getting breakfast the other day. 20 mins actually eating.

Didn't notice this whilst the race was on, Albon ignored a laps worth of blue flags which slowed Leclerc down significantly and received no punishment at all. Latifi also did this to Sainz.

I guess he was trying to allow Leclerc through. I don't know how Leclerc was supposed to pass but that's probably what was going on?

Track so boring you can't even overtake lapped cars!

In fairness Stroll does chuck in the odd decent effort. Latifi for me has grasped the opportunity presented by Hazaspin's departure and is currently sitting top of the flops by a distance. His radio message was comedy gold: 'The car just went straight on!!!' which seems to suggest he either forgot he was driving it or he doesn't realise you need to steer the car when you arrive at a bend.

I think he briefly looked down at the sat nav again

  13. Anyone see Kovalev cruiserweight debut?

Not seen it myself but I can't imagine he's up to much and the reports don't sound good. He never had the biggest frame anyway did he? And if ever a boxer was never the same after a defeat its Kovalev.

  14. Yep, 5 years since GGG "beat" Canelo. And it's not been a good 5 years. I thought the second fight was the right decision but even if you thought GGG won it... it was less convincing than the 1st fight and he looked the older fighter.

Last 2 fights he's been struggling to catch up and Canelo is going to be coming in with a huge point to prove.

    Canelo comfortable points win?

Buatsi - Richards fight a belter. Richards was incredibly game and the contrast of styles made for a really entertaining fight with quarter asked nor given. Better from Buatsi from a technical standpoint, but he remains reckless and in his first real test, he didn't show enough for me to think he has the beating of the Russians. Feel a little for Richards, as he's a really skilled fighter, but his punches are stinging rather than heavy and while he did wobble Buatsi in the 8th, he couldn't stop him marching forward and landing plenty of his own. A routine, if hard fought win then for Buatsi, but without the fireworks I expected. Not sure where Richards goes from here though.

Next up is Bivol and I don't think he'll be overly worried by what he sees. He has the option of the contracted re-match with Alvarez, but despite Canelo and his camp's claims, I don't see that fight happening. Bivol comprehensively beats Buatsi for my money, at which point the Russians have nobody left bar eachother. Some match up that'd be! The outstanding boxer versus the outstanding puncher. Fair to say that for a dvision that lacks a little strength in depth, it is still throwing up some very decent fights with the promise of more to come.

On holiday so I missed it!

Most reliable reports saw it pretty much the same as you. Right down to saying he needs a fight between Richards and Bivol

But that's the problem with that weight. There's good fighters but not enough of them. What can prepare him for world title shots?
