Yes we will, I'm so pi$$ed off with Warne, Why couldn't we buy someone?, Why wouldn't Arsenal or maybe Newcastle loan us their star striker?, Ronaldo FFS went to Saudi Arabia when he could have come here for £350k less a week, Or we should have asked Bristol City if they had any aging strikers that would like to take a hit on their wages, Perhaps we were offered someone who's not getting a game and hasn't scored a goal since 2020, I'll tell you what lets just sign someone who can fit into a number 9 shirt and keep our cold benches warm.

There's a reason we didn't sign a striker...ask CurtainsFast Feet Dance GIF by polgee

Time will tell. If we get a few injuries, we’ll be in trouble.

I've been pretty harsh on Dobbin so far this season. I kind of came to the conclusion that he was crap a few weeks ago and that Barkhuizen was miles better.

But that second-half performance on Saturday was absolutely sublime. He rinsed their full back time and time again. That, coupled with the assists at Port Vale, suggests he's stepped up a gear and could be a huge asset for us. Delighted to be proven wrong.

Let's hope he keeps his confidence up and we see more of the same for the rest of the season.

We were always going to get this with Dobbin. It’s his first taste of mens football. It’s not like most of the Championship loans we’ve had, they have usually played mens football at some level before coming to us. I said at the start of the season we’ll know if he’s any good in the second half of the season.
He’s coming up against seasoned pros, who are going to do things to him that under 21 full back that’s probably won’t go on to play pro football won’t.
First half of the season was to get him accustomed to the league, second half is to become a nailed on starter every week.

  3. I always think persistent injuries are a sign of a bad work ethic in players. You look at some of the best players, and they hardly ever pick up injuries as they look after their bodies so well. Others that don’t love football and playing tend to pick them up. Bale a prime example.

Ha, steady on. Even if we put aside would he fit into this team or not, you have to question what kind of deal it would be.

Would a loan deal work? Probably not as the small amount of wages we could contribute to, probably doesn’t give him room to replace without other departures as well. Bentley is set to join Wolves, couldn’t even begin to guess what money he would have been on.

Deadline day it could come down to that, take say 4k a week in wages, then try to get an Prem youngster on loan paying the 4k to the parent club. Ideally though you would imagine they would be looking for a club to take him off their hands for free, maybe even offer to cover a few grand a week till the end of the season.

Then you have to question, is he happy to be a third choice striker in League 1, would he take the reduced wages on offer which you would imagine will be an 18 month contract at most.

You really need to know where his head is at, for all we know this could be it, happy to sit out the rest of the season and hang his boots up in the summer and move on to the next chapter of his life.

No shame in retiring at 34. Not sure what else this forum would talk about then, I’m sure we’d move on to someone else to pine for in time.

Our wage constraints are based on the squad as a whole, we can afford to pay a select few more than the cap as long as a few are on less than the average cap. Hence Hourihane/Mcgoldrick being in our squad.

  5. If we were looking at this without previous experience of him being here. I think we’d probably look at him as a player that adds good depth to the squad. As we know him so well, he’ll polarise opinion.
I don’t particularly like going back for players. They rarely work out. In fairness I do think he will score goals at this level though, and I wouldn’t like him going to a promotion rival.

Hi guys another Wanderer here and equally perplexed why most posts are about the crowd not the game? Brilliant support you’ve had this season after all that’s gone on so well done on that. Should be a cracking game with both sides going for a win and both in good form. Obviously we’re suffering from a few injuries and departures, especially Afolyan going and Bod out for the season but we should still have more than enough to compete. It goes without saying that this game should be in a higher division than this so let’s hope we can both get there soon. A draw wouldn’t be bad for either but I think we need the win more than you do. Whatever happens I think we’ll both make the top six so we may have to meet again this season yet? Let’s just hope it’s a good game and not spoiled by poor refereeing.

I personally think League one is about right for Bolton.

Last defeat was against Ipswich on Friday 21st October.

By the end of play on Saturday 22nd October, the gap between:

Derby and Sheffield Wednesday who are currently in 2nd place, 9 points.

Derby and Plymouth who are currently top of the table, 14 points.

Today, January 16th, the gap between:

Derby and Sheffield Wednesday is 11 points.

Derby and Plymouth is 14 points.

    Whatcha talkin bout Willis?

Well, this 12 league game unbeaten run has done absolutely nothing to reduce the gap between ourselves and the top 2 as only 6 were wins.

We're still flying, but so are these two, we need to get even better to break into the top 2.

We do have a game in hand over Sheffield Wednesday, 2 over Plymouth and 21 games in to chase them down.

On a positive note, we were 13 points behind Ipswich following that defeat, we are now 7 points behind them with a game in hand.

I’m fairness, although it’s been 12 games unbeaten in the league. We drew a lot to begin with and we are now on a three game winning streak, that ultimately has to continue to have a chance of automatics now. Draws aren’t good enough, we need to go on a run of picking up 8/9 wins from the next 10 league game to give ourselves a good chance.

I think this Sibley left back experiment has to stop. It just isn't his game and it's blatantly obvious. Get him up the pitch in his natural position where he can do some real damage

He’s played really well there, and improving every week. He’s actually turning out to be a good balance of defensive capability plus attacking threat. I think he’ll see the season out there if he carries on as he is.

  9. I think priority should be more attacking players in this window. We have made the mistake in the past of being in a good position in January and prioritising a defensive player. Our defence is working well even with 3 players playing out of position.

Smith reminds me of Chris Baird. Assured. Sibley is doing well at LB. Fozzy and Cashin are a good partnership.

Another winger is needed and maybe a no.10 to take the pressure off McGoldrick. As much as I disliked him when he was here. Holmes would make a good squad player if we could get him.

    The questions are:

    1) If Portsmouth v Derby was on ITV, Saturday 3pm, would those same fans attend had the game not been on TV?

    2) If Portsmouth v Derby is moved to Friday 8pm for Sky Sports, would those that would have attended had it been Saturday 3pm, still go on this new date?

For me, 2 has the potential to have a bigger impact on fans. I say this as despite what I said earlier, this is great for me being moved for TV, truth is, I would be able to watch at home on my 55” TV regardless of when the game is on through commonly known methods.

Difference now is really I can go to the pub and watch.

TV or not, football has it’s hardcore fans that will attend home/away regardless of being on TV, I truly believe that the odd Derby game being shown on ITV will not prevent those from going.

However if Sky Sports continue to make games inaccessible for fans by moving them outside of public transport times, you’re going to lose fans who simply cannot afford to soak up the additional costs.

They are so out of touch it’s unbelievable, we have the government talking about electricity blackouts this winter, household bills, food, fuel soaring, here Sky are basically saying look, you have to drive or spend more money now to attend this game, just so we can show it to thousands of neutral football fans that have no real interest in the outcome.

Funny thing is these net zero adverts they run, we care about environment, yet here they are forcing thousands of football fans away from using public transport. I don’t know how many fans one carriage can hold, but it’s a lot more than 1 family car and with no Roadrider this season the alternatives are what exactly….

If they are able to broadcast the 3pm ko’s, they will soon be broadcasting them all. It would effect every home game. There is a hard core but to get more than 20k you need to attract fans and I know plenty of casual fans that would rather watch it on TV than buy a ticket.

This happens a handful times a season. It’s an issue, but I get it.

  11. If I’m honest, compared to what was discussed yesterday with tv rights this is probably the better of two evils.

Allowing 3pm KOs to be broadcasted will kill attendances. Especially with the cost of living going up. More people will stay at home and watch on Amazon etc.

We might be annoyed now when the games get moved every so often but PP will be below 20k regularly if they go ahead with the short sited plans. Sure slightly more money in from tv rights but for a club like derby we’ll be out of pocket.

Why would it ? Presumably employed by the new company on a different contract as the old one would be no longer valid.

They would be transferred on the same terms. Companies get taken over all the time. It’s not fair on employees to loose all their continuous service etc

Of course they want rid of him. What better way would there be for a new owner to achieve that than to appoint him as CEO.

For pity sake get real. DC is an experienced and successful businessman who has heavily invested in one of his passions - do you really think he would put someone he doesn't want in such a position of influence?

Getting rid would be expensive. An expense that’s not necessarily essential now.

For the last 12+ months Stephen Pearce has had to endure a torrence of abuse.

The one thing that sticks out for me is that he didn't just walk away from the mess MM made. He's stuck around to see the club get back on its feet, he's just got on with doing what needed to be done even though a big proportion of the support was singing his name to be removed from the club and he's now openly said he wants to stay and see the club be successful.

I think it's time we stop any abuse towards him and see him for what he actually is. He seems a good guy with our interests at heart and if we are to become a force again, he wants to be right behind us steering the ship.

MM must have been a nightmare to work with so for him to stay at the club during those years must say a lot about SP and what he thinks of DCFC.

Time we cut him some slack and probably appreciate what he's been through to get the club back to where it is now.

I suspect they want rid of him, but he probably has a massive Payout if we do get rid. He’s not very well thought of within the club. It’s most likely not seen as an essential use of money to get rid of him.

Bit harsh I think. He went too early but the fella was 30 yards from goal and out wide putting a cross in from an angle.  If anything, we needed to battle harder for the second ball, and Wildsmith needs to let Cashin know he's got things covered as the  initial- pretty tame- effort was heading straight at him prior to Cashins multi foot ping pong.   I agree he should be in midfield ahead of anyone else though

He played Whittaker onside. Everyone else had pushed out.
