I thought that today’s game illustrated why we need Jason Knight in the centre of midfield. His energy and aggression were sorely missed there especially in the 2nd half.

    Absolutely wasted at full back.

Especially as he was at fault for the first goal.

Crazy what some of our fans are asking. Let’s get Grabban or Andy Carroll, etc, etc.

Are these players going to drop to L1 on the wages we can offer?

To be fair, had we not signed hourihane id agree but I think most frees in the Champ we have a chance with especially around their age. At the moment we’re creating loads of chances and not scoring them, so a clinical forward is a must

Very few managers in his career have felt he's better down the middle, so I find it unlikely that his best position is somewhere all of those managers chose not to play him (very often).

I have no doubt we'd see him there at some point when we're chasing a goal or two, but we'll see him mostly on the wing.

He looks to me very much like Wiemann in his style of play.  Finally trusted down the middle after derby…

290 games. 213 of those on the right, 28 on the left, 40 at CF and 5 as an SS. He's a winger.

I think he’d be better playing central, in our team. From the left I think he looks pretty ineffective. Might see more from the right, but Mendez Laing seems to look really good from that side at the moment.

That would make a lot more sense if that’s the case, we are severely lacking competition out wide, particularly on the left side. Everything seems to say he’s a striker though.

Looked at some of his stats the majority of his appearances have actually come on the left wing.

Hmm… would be very pleased if we were bringing him in permanently to develop long term, given his promising reputation. But on loan… I’m not convinced. We’d have to guarantee him a lot of football, which is a big gamble, given he’s only played 3 senior games. He’ll end up blocking the pathway for our own young players like Stretton, without really guaranteeing the huge positive impact to justify it.

Generally only like loan players if they’re either in a position of desperate need, or appear to be a clear class above and capable of transforming the level of the entire team, a la Mason Mount. Dobbin certainly isn’t the first as a striker, remains to be seen if he’s the second.

We very short out wide, presume he’s being signed as a winger

  7. I think I'm in the minority here but with Byrne I have slightly more respect for as he hasn't actually signed for anyone else yet. Hasn't come out and said anything derogatory.

He's been given advice saying DCFC are in the wrong. DCFC have been given advice saying Byrne is in the wrong. He's waiting on an outcome. It probably wouldn't right for him to be with the squad, on either party. DCFC don't want someone with an active dispute in training. Byrne can't really train with us as it might prejudice his case.

If Derby turn out to be in the right, I'd give him the opportunity to rejoin the squad and play. (Albeit, probably with an apology) Buchanan however is playing for another club right now.

The German bomber song is pathetic. I'd personally never join in with it. It kills the atmosphere of getting behind your club and players in my opinion. Its not supportive of DCFC, its not funny and its a fecking miserable dirge.

The only thing you can do is not join in and moan about it to those around you and hope it dies down quickly.

    Why is it pathetic?

The German Bomber chants were absolutely embarrassing. Probably sung by people trying to look cool for their social media. Collectively they will have the IQ of a fish finger.

I've sat all round Pride Park last season. Used it as a chance to explore different stands and the South Stand was by far and away the worst.

A lot of the people in there sit in their bedrooms at night making chants up.

I personally think this chant is pretty boring. However it’s going too far to ban it, call it embarrassing or discrimination.
Often our society is vilified for our past (ofteb deserved), but this chant is about one thing we can all patriotically be proud of. It champions the battle of britain. If Germany had the same type of woke society we have they’d be singing it themselves.

  10. He’s on about £25k a week at rangers, can’t see them subsidising it as they’ll be more than us in for him. If we’re not paying a fee it’s still a stretch but it’s not completely unbelievable.

He might have to unless we sign a senior right back. Naive comment I'm afraid.

We have the young right back from city. Knight has played there. He’d be at least 3rd choice Rb. Naive from you I believe. We’d even start that Brighton loanee or cashin before Stearman

    I wouldn’t what? Sorry I don’t understand your question.

Would I feel comfortable describing someone as black if I hadn’t met them? Well yes, I’d feel extremely comfortable, considering if they are black and it helps identify the individual.

I mentioned before, you go to fill out a police report and it’s one of the first things they ask.

We were robbed in Miami. The two police officers asked us for a physical description. They first question they asked was if the offender was black, white or hispanic.

Deliberately ignoring point. Would you feel comfortable. Haven’t not met them before. Describing them in that way to them directly.

This isn’t a police report. We’ve just watched the player for 45 minutes. You can pick up more than the colour of their skin.

There is no need for an edit, your views are your views, but, you do not get to decide what's appropriate on this message board, its for David and his team to do so.  Clearly they see no issue and feel that its fine to stay, which is why the moderators have not amended the post.

I think we should leave the moderators to do there jobs rather than trying to do it for them, there jobs difficult enough as it is!

Presume I’m allowed an opinion on this. I didn’t tell them to do this only suggested this would have been an appropriate course of action.

If they decide not to then that’s on them.

My feeling on this is that it’s not racist but is racially insensitive. (No matter the intention, of course I don’t think this was intentional). I don’t think it has a place.

The job of an admin is to look into this.

Describing him as black? He is black… And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Black isn’t a taboo word. It’s an adjective you use to describe something.

There is a big difference when using the word in a derogatory sense or followed by an insult.

    I’ll take that as a no then… you wouldn’t.
