Think I read the initial target was £1k which was smashed within hours, a new target was set at £10k and this morning it's at just over £13k now with an anonymous £5k donation. ???

Absolutely bizarre that the EFL have said they should be defended as football debts without even seeing the cases.

It isn't their choice though.. they are prevented by statute from pursuing claims against an entity in administration. So why not go after Mel instead? Or go through the LAP  but against Mel only, not DCFC, assuming Mel allows that despite his mistrust of LAP. ?

It's a non story

Out of interest I wandered onto a Derby County thread on a Middlesbrough forum. Unsurprisingly they seem to have the view that Steve Gibson is an honest owner who plays by the rules and Mel Morris is a dishonest owner who cheats. When someone mentions Steve Gibson moving profit around his different companies to keep Middlesbrough the right side of P&S/FFP (as referenced in Mel Morris’ statement on Friday) they say it is normal business practice. But so is what Mel Morris did at Derby with amortisation! I can’t see the difference other than the EFL worked a charge against Derby (to avoid being sued by Middlesbrough) and Mel Morris put Derby into administration. It is not a big stretch to see a set of circumstances where the EFL could have worked a charge against Middlesbrough and Steve Gibson put Middlesbrough into administration. I guess the Middlesbrough fans only know some elements of the Derby story and are fed propoganda from the North East? But the difference in their views of Steve Gibson and Mel Morris were to me quite shocking.
(I am no fan of Mel Morris by the way, he is still the root cause of Derby’s current issues).

It doesn't always work. Last Sunday I was at my grandsons junior match, as I have been every weekend for the last 8 years, and ended up in a heated debate with a Stoke fan on the touchline. He had seen me flicking onto Skygo on my phone for the Rams match and had to come and tell me that he didn't like Derby, we were cheats and should be relegated no matter what. Whilst I know I should have ignored him, I had to try and educate him but the gaps in his knowledge were so vast and the gap between his ears was making him so hard of understanding that it took me half the match!  We have got an away game on the outskirts of Rotherham tomorrow, goodness knows what reaction my Rams bobble hat will provoke from the troglodytes up there.

They have held meetings and the leader if the council has been all over the story.
The council get a lot of stick but imo they have dealt with this well.

A Man Utd fan told me he would be good. In this case it has necessarily been about the team choices he hasn’t got much to choose from but even the academy players are coming in and looking ready for the fight. They are match prepared. It is his togetherness and how he has pulled everyone in the same direction even the doubters have moved. I liked him as a player because he had raw talent but I like him more as manager of Derby.

Honestly, if Mel can get the extortion by Boro and Wycombe out of the way, it'd upgrade my rating of his time here from 0/100 to 0.1/100, so there's that. 

I emailed Rick about just this question over two weeks ago and haven't had a response. I send a reminder the other day and copied Margret Beckett in.
