Anyone else think that the leaky EFL walls will tell us via Nixon etc as soon as we (Q) have introduced our PB?

Evening all. It's a Meikle update!!

He's been through it poor little guy. And both Mrs VdM and I have been on a bit of a rollercoaster.
Meikle has always drunk a lot and wee'd a lot. We mentioned this a few times but had been brushed off by the charity.
Last week our local vet, after some testing, gave us his view that Meikle had chronic kidney disease. Renal dysplasia. Prognosis was life expectancy 200 - 400 days. It's incurable and congenital.
    He was 1 last week.
Cue emotional meltdown. But to be fair, he said that the tests weren't 100% conclusive and referred him to a local super specialist vet.
We've just got him back after 48 hours of scanning and testing.
He's got a birth defect called an ectopic ureta. Basically the tube from one of his kidneys into his bladder is defective. He is leaking urine into his bladder which is backing up and has caused one of his kidneys to start failing.
The great news is that it can be fixed with surgery. So negotiations are about to start as to who pays.
His testing cost £3,000 which the charity has funded via its insurance.
Procedure? Don't know. He's not going to make it as an assistance dog so Mrs VdM has put her size 5s down and insisted we adopt him.
But she's insisted that I mustn't be tight. So I won't be. He's part of the family. Even though the whole thing hasn't worked out in terms of delivering a useful functioning assistance dog, I'd like to think we've done a little good.
Here he is sleeping off his anaesthetic.
Thank you for your interest and kind words all. If the mods want to close the thread then understand and appreciate all their help.
    Love to all

I think if he stays or goes it won’t be about the money, but more what our future owners can sell in terms of vision to rebuild quickly a competitive L1 team.

How could we sell off PP, we don't own it? Where would we get the money from to build a new stadium? To start with a smaller capacity and then extend the ground is only remotely realistic if/when we found ourselves as a regular in the Premier League. That ain't going to happen any time soon so, our ambition would be to get back the the championship as soon as possible where a capacity of 37-40,000 would be too big and 22-25,000 too small (hopefully).
I totally get everyone's anger with Mel but to look to move away from PP just to spite him feels a little short sighted to me and a case of cutting your nose off to spite your face.
Personally, whilst I accept it's always possible we have no alternative, I hate the prospect of ground sharing.

Say we do go down the liquidation route, I’m not actually sure there is any money for the auditors. Five players we could sell but MSD would get a big chunk of that money.
Also - why would MSD put yet another Loan in if they didn’t think there was a good chance of the club being purchased?
I still think we will get bought but I can’t for the life of me think why any owner not coming in now to allow contracts to be sorted, season tickets sold, secure the staffs future and not start with minus 15, isn’t a good business strategy.

If, as looks increasingly likely, we drop down to League 1, AND the club survives, we’ll be that bit further removed from the nasty money games of the Premier League and top end of the Championship. Won’t football in League 1 be closer to that sport of fair competition that many of us crave? Less influence from the money men, no international breaks to disrupt the flow, if Derby as a club continues and can keep the crowds up along with the revenue that generates we’re much closer to a true reflection of fair competition with clubs competing according to their means and more genuine magic from those that punch above their weight.
Just my take on it of course

I'm an old timer, Been there seen it and it was GREAT 1965/66 onwards, I'm lucky than a lot on here, Covid was the catalyst for me, Missed my mates, Mother passed from Covid, Brother passed last year, I found running is a great escape from todays shyte, Football was an outlet, Not anymore, Sky I have until I move next month but rarely watch football now, Then Sky gets cancelled, If I want to watch a live game, Then i'll mooth on down to PP and buy a ticket, A live game on Sky I can pick up in a pub not to far away.
Belper Town FC will see a lot more of me, It's a good day out, Yes football is not what it was for me And thouroughly understand why people still want to go, It's very hard to break that habit/loyalty
