  1. ====CORNER FLAG====
DCFC Welcomes back Kevin Poole as goalkeeper coach and backup keeper.

Kevin says “I am looking forward to working with David Marshall for next year and pushing him hard for the gloves. Young Roos I think has great potential but is best served with a loan spell which I am confident of arranging with my many contracts in the game”

I get very very excited when I see a goalscorer being signed as a centre forward !

I think the last one was Dean Saunders although Dean Sturridge was a lot better than some gave him credit for even though he came through the ranks

    You forgot…

Da Da de Da… Stevie Howard.

Would be happy with another one of him for next year..

    A bit of advice please.

I'm toying with the idea of taking my grandson, who will be 5 next week, to the Man Utd friendly but I'm not sure if he's too young.

I thinking of using it a test event and if he likes it I'll get him a season ticket.

Does anyone on here take a child of this age?

If he likes/loves football then it’s fine age to start.

If he is not particularly interested then it could be hard work (based on my experience) but still worth a try.

Recommend getting quite close to the pitch.

So who would you pick? Bear in mind that to take those extra 2/3 penalty takers, you'd have to weaken a different area of the squad.
    English penalty takers last season:

    Vardy - 8/9
    Kane - 4/4
    C Wilson - 4/4
    Ward-Prowse - 3/4
    Bamford - 2/2
    Ings - 2/2
    Sharp - 2/2
    Barnes - 1/1
    Mount - 1/1
    Sancho - 1/1
    Lingard - 1/2
    Rice - 1/2
    Watkins - 1/2
    Lookman - 0/1
    Lundstrum - 0/1
    Sterling - 0/1
    Welbeck - 0/1
    J Willock - 0/1

    Ward-Prowse for James.

    Bamford for Calvert-Lewin.

Probably could do without the other left back (Chilwell) seeing as Trippier was preferred backup on both sides.

For the Euros and World Cup, I don't care about style - it's all about the results.

Who knows how successful a more adventurous style of play would have been? Maybe we would have got knocked out in the groups.

Southgate's tactics almost worked. They worked better than any other England manager in the last 53 years and bettered only once over 81 years.

Thanks. What would we think of the idea though? (Of taking specialist kickers like in American Football). If we had 2-3 specialist kickers we could have called on we almost certainly would have won (with Pickfords saves).

Downside is weaker squad. As a couple of your favourites would not make the trip.

  6. Given tactics of England making penalties a high possibility and a plan to sub on penalty takers at the end, it would probably make sense to pick some of the squad who regularly feel the pressure as they takes club pens. They would of course still be good enough to be called on if needed.

Looking at Ings, Bamford and the like rather than selecting a kid who looks good at peno in training, pick someone who is proven.
