Not a surprise. The very best teams in this league are just too clinical and you can’t give them an inch.

It’ll be interesting to see how we deal with an attack of similar quality next week by comparison. Hamer and O’Hare are two of the best players in the division, Rak-Sakyi is full of pace and intent, and Moore is such a bruising centre forward but also an intelligent player at this level.

The one worry I have for Pompey is that they just don’t carry the goal threat. They don’t have a natural goalscorer. Bishop is a huge miss for them. They do have some quick, direct forwards who will cause lesser defences problems but can they do that consistently? I liked the look of Blair, for example, but it’s a heavy burden on young shoulders.

I think they’ll bounce back ultimately but each game without a win and that crisis of confidence could snowball.

Agree. But also don’t think Bishop was/is much above Collo in championship level.

Asda Everyday, Sainsbury’s Red Label, even Co-op own brand ahead of Yorkshire Tea which everybody with half a tastebud would say is number 1.

    Which have embarrassed themselves here.

Whens the football back on by the way?

They are more or less the same %age.. Don’t believe the (hype) stats..

PS I drink Tetley or Yarkshire Decaf.

  3. They are both my era(s).

The Smith team would have beaten comfortably the Cox team imo if they were to play each other.

But the pre-pl era was a bit more “pure” and enjoyable (and fair) so I liked the Cox era probably a bit more. At this stage you could imagine wining the league still.

  4. Max Bird.

Taking the reins at the end of a long and fruitful career, during which time Paul Warne has established the Rams as a regular Premier League top 6 interloper with occasional European run. DCFCFans decries Warne as a Judas for leaving for the Chelsea (Dream) job.

We won’t know how slow our back 4 are until they come up against Championship “Speedboats”. Have we signed 3 defensive midfield players to protect them ? Now comes the expensive part of football. Goals / Assists .

At champ level the speedboats are generally not the best footballers (outside top few sides) else they would be playing PL. So I doubt it will be most weeks that we have to worry about this. (I am seriously hoping)

  6. If we concede less than 1.5 goals per game on average we will probably be mid table even if we are goal shy.

The midfield signings have potential for shielding the defence well and if we can add a bit of pace in the back 2/3 (and decent goalie of course) then I think we can be tight.

Struggle where the goals are coming from though so when we do net, we need to make it count.

Prediction 14-18th unless we find a sharp shooter.

I get really fat in my 30s. Like really fat. Like struggling to tie shoes fat.

Got COVID and it ruined me for months so decided to sort myself out.

For me it was running, I got to the point I loved it, had run quite a few Half's and had just completed a marathon...and my knee started playing up.

Never realised how much I would miss it.

However I'm just starting to work back so I'm on the trying to get going again journey.

You don't need a gym, you don't need equipment, all you need is the will to do it.

(He said as he shovelled a KitKat into his gob)

Started running when I stopped playing football aged 30ish (when kids arrived).

Kept getting bad knees and stopping.

Then did gym and strengthened leg and core muscles and since then have been mostly injury free. Run about 1000 miles a year (20ish a week) and have done 6 marathons and about 20ish half’s.

I am built more like a rugby centre than a distance runner (6ft and 13st) so am genuinely surprised that I am now 51 and still enjoying it.

Would advise that strength/conditioning alongside the running is a good combo for longevity.

I think our strikers will be Yates, Collins plus one more. Washington & Brown to go out on loan.

Need more than 3 over course of season.

I'd just hope that the PL loans won't be relied upon as key members - they'll likely be coming in late after the host clubs complete preseason.

That's not to say they won't, just the cherry, not the cake.

Agree, but these players are often the difference that allows teams without Parachute Payments to make it to the promised land. So we should be trying to get a couple in…
