I was very grateful to David Clowes when he stepped in, because he saved our club. He made it pretty clear that his objective was that it should not die. He also made it pretty clear I felt that he was a reluctant owner, and certainly not one with deep pockets, and that during his tenure he would have to run it as a sustainable business model. There isn't a couple of million that can be found from anywhere, unless its from his pocket. I dont expect him to dig deeper than he has, and no one else should either. He has given Warne what looks a resonable budget to compete in League 1. He has put his faith in the League 1 Guardiola.
    Notes:
    1) A sustainable business model will never satisfy the average football fan.
    2) Not getting out of League 1 quickly will create issues as to attendances, goodwill, etc.
    3) I wonder how much work is being done by Clowes in terms of finding his future successor. I suspect he would very much like to find someone in his 5 year plan that has the deeper pockets to take the club forward.

Andyou miss the point of what we have been through in the past three years. It's not just about writing cheques and fans who think that they are being sold short by owners who don't go down that path really need to give their head a wobble.

It's funny how unheralded the Crawford / Spence fight was, given the quality and respective records of the fighters. The result was no surprise to most, but the manner of victory (as others have pointed out), most certainly was, to yours truly, anyway.
Re-match next? Most likely, but if I were Spence's manager / trainer, I'd be avoiding Crawford like the proverbial plague as Crawford, with this outing under his belt, would doubtless treat Spence in much the same way a cat treats a cornered mouse. Money will no doubt be the driver, one way, or t'other.
Quick word on Naoya Inoue; this lad's a fookin superstar with his almost freakish ability to carry power through divisions, yet he remains somewhat unheralded despite being right there with the likes of Crawford in the P4P rankings. Unlike some, he'll fight anyone too. Predictably, the Gervonta Davis crew telling everyone he'd destroy Inoue. It'd be a fight to savour, that's for sure and unlike the HW's, some of these these fights are getting made in the lower divisions. Hmmm...

This topic is such a hard one for any human could contemplate - record temperatures in one half of a year sounds catastrophic but looked at across weather patterns that ebb and flow over centuries, indeed millenia, it just isn't possible for any one human to truly appreciate if the impact is transitory or permanent. Alongside that, it's next to impossible to understand how any one person can impact that change and the one thing that is certain (and was demonstrated clearly in Covid) is that we lack the ability as a species to act on anything other than personal benefit in mind (even if that is just the endorphin rush of philanthropy).
All of that said, my personal (flawed) conclusions are:
    - Stay on our current path and we are all but doomed as a species. The planet will survive and has overcome challenges far greater than anything we can throw at it but, still, we've all but signed our death warrant.
    - We won't get anywhere by asking people to abstain, whether that be on the number of holidays, turning your heating down or buying one less television. Look at the obesity crisis, smoking, etc to see we just can't do it even when the impact is heavy and personal.
    - The only chance we have to reverse what does seem (comments above onboard) is to invent our way out of it. Carbon capture, renewable / alternate energies. Our capitalism led planet cannot, and will not, solve the problem by taking things away.
    - But even then, we have so many issues that need addressing. Biodiversity impact driven by population growth, plastics, resource depletion, inability to act quick enough - it's just a bit too much to handle it all in the time that is needed
Conclusion is very depressing but it's happening around us, in one way or another, now. And my view is we are already beyond the point of no return (at least to not have significant impact).
But, to end on a positive, I like the new away kit.

That was something else - easy to forget how good Spence is as a boxer and, as you said, Crawford took him to pieces round by round. After the first knockdown he was just never in it and he looked like anything but a top ten P4P fighter that he was going into the ring.
What's hard to work out about any rematch is that fight wasn't even Crawford doing his usual thing. We all thought Crawford would be on the back foot and counter yet he did the opposite from about round three on. So even if Spence does find a way to push him back he's then got to work out how to avoid Crawford's counter.
Amazing! I don't think I can recall a fight since maybe the third Duran Leonard fight where a respected (indeed great) boxer has been made to look just so ordinary.
