Oxo-flex netted 11 goals and provided two assists in 21 Premier League 2 outings last season.
Dobbin, in Premier League 2 he netted six goals in 18 league appearances in the 2021/22 season.

Said it many times but I'll say it again we shouldn't be selling our best young talent to average championship clubs like Birmingham City. If a stupid offer comes in then yes we'll have to think about it but I can't see it coming from them. Would be a really poor move for Knight as well in my opinion.

I know we are in league one but he should be a £12-15 million sale at a minimum based on everything but we simply need him on an extended contract or we will take a low ball offer

Its 3 seasons since collins had a decent record of scoring, last seasons 23 matches and 3 goals nothing to shout about.
I hear the press talking about how great 34 year old mcgoldrick is, but he's not going to out score the last few seasons, and i dont think he did that well in those.
In a league where there are a decent amount of players scoring at least 15 goals, where are our goals going to come from.
I wonder where the pace in midfield is going to come from as well.
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/league-one/top-scorers/assists
A number of players creating at least 8 assists in the league one season last year, I wonder who from our current team, will create at least 8 assists.
Sean McConville, did brilliantly last season, creating 17 assists.
    Scott Twine, created 13 assists.

Normally I'm a blind optimist but going into the new campaign I feel pre-season foreshadows a missed opportunity. We had the chance for a fresh start but Rosenior has us playing same old, same old, not using our players as he should and setting us up so as not to create chances. As things stand, my prediction would be 12-15th. We will continue to concede crazy goals by a misplaced determination to always play out from the back, but we'll only score rarely because if we beat the press we'll simply turn backwards and invite the press back on, and try to play out from the back again.
A third division team should not be playing short goalkicks across its own six-yard area to their own keeper, with grinning opposition forwards lined up on the edge of the box, waiting to charge. End of.

I'm really not intending to be negative but my gut feeling is that we will need some time to get into our stride so I expect a slow start. We have a reasonable squad which has some quality in some areas but there are still some real weaknesses and very limited cover (that is good enough) plus very little playing time together as a first team not just a rotating squad for pre-season. I think we're just going to have to be a bit patient and not over-react if it doesn't all click straight away.
Momentum and a winning habit can be really important, particularly when you want players to buy into what you are trying to do so I really hope for our managers sake that we can get off the mark with wins home and away quickly. I really don't expect promotion this year but hope that we can see something that suggests that we are on the right track and finish the season strongly.

    Looked very poor tonight.
Fragile at the back, blunt up front. Persisted with playing everything out from the back, which we didn’t really have the players for. That being said we also had no one to hold up the ball if we went more direct, so choose your poison I suppose.
We look like a side 2/3 weeks behind everyone else, which we are, and we look like a side 4 or 5 players short, which we are.
Smith looked good, and Robertson looked very good.
The goals we conceded were Keystone Cops level defending, but on balance they weren’t undeserved. Our goal was a stunner.

    https://playerscout.co.uk/football-league-scouting/
The key is being able to identify undervalued talent in the market, develop them, and then sell them on for profit, gradually building more value into the squad and gradually increasing the level of the squad.
Older players don't sell for a profit, and are less useful the following season if already 32. Older players are more injury prone, and if you look at the injury records of a number of the recent signings of this age group you and the fact that at this age players pick up more injuries.
It's possible to say that Derby needed to sign new players quickly due to the transfer window left available once the new ownership went through and have therefore recruited players who once upon a time, were successful at league one level.
The problem is that such players were younger then and more able to play the physical/fast game that happens in league one.
Take collins he scored a lot of goals for luton in league one 3 years ago, now hes older and scored 3 goals in 23 games last season.
mcgoldrick still has a great football mind, but at 34 hes unlikely in my opinion, to score 10 goals in the coming season.
Youth loan players, are not as committed to playing for the club as those under contract to the club. Youth players take time to gel at the club, and are not the finished article. That means they are less likely to score a lot of goals if they are strikers for example.
The development of a strategic plan at Derby will provide clarity and outline the conditions for success, defining the type of recruitment Derby want going forward. Derby need to create value in the squad to become more sustainable.
Derby should aim to switch the recruitment bias in favour of players on the rise, who come to Derby and have the opportunity to further their own careers. Derby may not keep them, they may go on to play in the Premier League, but Derby get to enjoy the benefits of that.
Derby will need a football analyst plus a scouting network.

    Crystal ball says ‘it depends’.

On weather the squad can cope with the rough and tumble teams and scrape more wins than not on those close games.

On weather we can bring a few more people in to give that competition for places in case of injuries.

On how long it takes to gel as we’ve only been together for a few weeks when others have been together a while.

A couple of youtubers I've watched have Derby to finish 3rd (behind Ipswich and Sheff Weds).
I think if we make half a dozen more astute signings they might be right, but we're not quite there yet imho.

Average age league one teams 2021/2022 ...
    Wigan fc - 27.3 years
Rotherham United fc - 25.5 years
    MK Dons - 23.6 years
    Sheffield wednesday - 27.4 years
    Sunderland fc - 24.1 years
Wycombe wanders fc - 25.6 years
    Plymouth Argyle - 24.2 years
    Oxford United - 26.8 years
    Bolton - 25.5 years
    Portsmouth - 24.7 years
    Ipswich - 25.7 years
    Derby - 27 years
Based on the average ages here I see you have a point.
Though we are lacking fire power.
We carrying some players with bad injury records.
We are carrying some players, where their lack of speed is an issue.
If we were allowed a transfer budget how many of our recent signings would have been first choice picks.

While there might be some merit to your words, unfortunately your not a scout or a professional football manager of some merit.
The articles ive read about making a success in league one when it comes to recruitment, are not based on the idle rambles of a fan.
They are based on clubs who have been successful at this level and people who know what they are talking about.
I can agree with some of your justifications here, for example timeline and being blocked by the efl from spending money on players.
However, that doesnt negate from the fact that many of the players we have signed recently, if the club doesnt succeed in promotion this season, will simply be even older the following season.
Nothing I have read indicates that older players are the way forward for success at this level.
Articles from Brentford, Sheffield United, Leeds, Sunderlands, Wigan, portsmouth indicate other wise.
I do accept however, that we are where we are.
The predicted winners of the league are sheffield wednesday and Ipswich.
I am confident that it will be an interesting season for our club.

I think when it comes to Roofe, its time to make a sacrifice.
Rangers can have Knight, but we get Roofe in exchange.
We need goals more than we need a player of knights undoubted talents.
I think i am correct in thinking that the efl rules have stopped us paying for any players, but exchanging players for players isnt covered by that rule.

The continued support of the Sunderland fans meant they spent a few years in League one before promotion.
Sheffield wednesday and Ipswich the favourites for promotion this year, sure their fans help.
Ultimately derby will challenge for promotion this season but does it have the team depth

    I'm nervous about Collins.
He's not what he once was.
Last season 3 goals in 23 matches is a terrible return.
    We definitely lack fire power.
    https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/kemar-roofe-rangers-loan-transfer-24575954
I was hoping we might sign kemar roofe on loan, but it looks like he might be sheffield wednesday bound.
I doubt anyone's daft enough to think mcgoldrick will be derbys leading striker.
Stretton looks far from the finished article.
