Surely if you put yourself in danger, then subsequently get injured which means you can't continue in your job, your employer shouldn't have to cover your wages.
If I deliberately put acid in my eyes, then I couldn't see for 2 years, should my work pay me for 2 years when I couldn't work?

Not in the eyes of the independent panel who had access to all of the relevant information though.

Looking at other team’s forums and the heart warming responses on Twitter and the like makes you realise how people blindly lap up anything printed in the Daily Mail. No wonder we are stuck with Boris Johnson for the next 200 years. I had a read to check the number of modal verbs used in that badly written article and subsequently found another article that said our survival was ‘one of the most dismal sights of the weekend’.
I love the unbiased tone of that article. I am going to presume that Mel Morris has become friends with Jeremy Corbyn. I think it is the most likely explanation for this love affair they have developed with us, whilst conveniently ignoring all other transgressions, as pointed out elsewhere.
Personally I draw comfort from knowing that no matter how much that awful rag hates us, it will never be as much as I despise it and it’s bigoted, badly written divisive poo.

Whats the rooster up exactly? Only now paying him what we would have had to anyway.
Isnt this an EFL ruling rather than employment law?
I'm pretty sure in any normal walk of life if you were unable to do your job because of an alcohol related incident you would be sacked or placed on SSP.

I think if you got into a car with a clearly drunk driver who technically is under your care as he was captain, were drunk yourself, didn't put your seatbelt on and got injured and couldn't work for 6 months you be severely disciplined, you might keep your job but you wouldn't get paid, you'd be on SSP and if you then kicked up a fuss demanding to be paid i suspect you would be out the door.
I wouldn't want you, not would I hire you for any other position as your judgement is clearly abysmal, the fact he's had two transfers since and got a wage he should be bloody grateful and leave it at that

What part of treating ALL employees in the same fair manner do you not get? If you had a similar case in a normal work place you would expect all involved to be treated the same! Just because it's a football club, they still have to abide by the same terms of employment.

Interesting that this case has again gone through the EFL's own regulatory systems rather than the standard employment tribunal that serves the rest of us mere mortals.
It's like they are a breed apart from the law that governs the rest of us.
I have had no sympathy for Keogh since he refused to accept a reduction in wages, or at least negotiate something with the club. I still think he let his club down that day by not behaving as a captain should and taking some responsibility for the safety of the younger players and himself. Surely the £24,000 per week he was getting paid conveyed some expectation of maturity with it?
So, he's got his full wages plus whatever he's been paid by MK Dons and Huddersfield since. I hope it makes him happy. Not.

Id love to know the logic of how MM gets blamed for this one.
Derby Fans: we are sick of MM spending money
Also Derby Fans: pay Richard Keogh £2.3m even though he is incapable of doing anything for the club

They are correct. If you come on here and just bash Mel, you are unlikely to get anywhere.
If you come on here and make robust, evidence-based criticism of Mel, you are likely to receive a mixture of agreement, disagreement and much inbetween.

Seriously where is all this talk of a points deduction come from?
Isnt the only thing being levelled at the club that they did not use the correct wording to explain the accounting policy used for amortisation?

Apart from the sucky play on words title and a bit of a slow start, it's absolutely brilliant 3 episodes in.
Kate Winslet is utterly outstanding in a Charlie George kind of way.
For those of you who like trivia, check out the stuff on IMDb about her when filming this.
Something I never knew was that most actors taking on a tricky dialect prefer not to break their accent during breaks whereas she didn't care a jot.
Seems like a lovely person too.

Unfortunately not the case but very low rise from low base.
Think we can say that the response to opening up from the government in a slow manner has been pretty good so far and it's driven case rates and deaths pretty low.
Vaccines have been good up til now but theyve not been able to expand the supply enough to keep working through to the 30s and 20s where there's a lot more potential to spread and carry the virus. In places like America, Canada and Germany they've not been as quick to take up the vaccines but it seems like almost anyone can get one regardless of age at this point.
Some rumours that from next week the under 40s will begin getting vaccinated and that there should be enough of the Pfizer and Moderna to do it (as the AZ vaccine is not given to the under 40s) pretty quickly.
Fingers crossed that the Indian variant can be held at bay with the vaccine and we should be relatively home and dry....

My local MLS team is Charlotte FC and the CEO is Tom Glick who for those recent fans, was the CEO at Derby County some 10 years ago, before moving to the same role at Manchester City
Charlotte FC share a 75,500 capacity stadium with Carolina Panthers the local NFL team, both are owned by David Tepper the richest owner in the NFL with net worth of $12 billion. I can only hope that Tom Glick is keeping an eye on the Rams sale situation with an eye for a bargain.
