Sad to just learn that Pete has passed away. Big fan of the Buzzcocks, and it is a shock that l won’t see him perform again. Great memories of numerous gigs over the years.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, wrote stories of unrequited love like Pete Shelley. His three minutes anthems are like lines through my life. Saw them as recently as last summer, they were still as truly brilliant as ever. You'll be missed.

Played it for about 5 hours yesterday, reckon it's going to be the most overhyped game ever made but there's some good stuff.
As already noted the controls are just bloody horrible, never really had a problem with them on GTA. Getting around by car and holding down the right trigger is one thing, getting around by horse & cart and constantly having to press/hold the X button to keep pace is another, far more strenuous & RSI inducing thing - my thumb still aches now.
Not sure the health/stamina system is going to be anything other than a pain in the arse and it's already failed to explain its systems properly a few times, or flashed up instructions whilst I'm busy doing other things.
For instance it took until I reached the first town to remember that there was even a dead eye shooting mode because, presumably, it had flashed up the instructions for that in a tiny box at the top left of the screen while I was deep in the midst of the earlier shootout, never to be shown again.
Hoping now I've hit the first town and been to the first pub (The Smithfield! Oh, alright, Smithfield's) I'll actually start to have some fun with it.

I've loved it so far. It's leaning more towards an RPG game than ever before. It wants you to go slow and really embrace some tedious chores that it somehow makes quite fun.
It doesn't want you to massacre a town and see if you can get a horse to land on a train. It wants you to say good morning to a town and buy a train ticket.
It's an RPG that pretended to be a GTA so nobody would be put off.

Rockstar controls are always clunky to be fair, if you’ve played Grand Theft Auto it’s a bit worse than that.
Will have to see and play with sensitivity settings, feels like I’m playing a sack of spuds.
Might be because I’ve come from hours of fast paced Call of Duty which has super smooth controls.
    Interested to see others thoughts

Does anyone think it would actually be great moving house to Aberdeen just to join the Aberdeenshire Rams? I imagine every televised match is just a heady cocktail of beers, Rams and predominately scottish indie anthems.
You can probably watch all the games on Ramsplayer too, what with it been foreign too.

I'm having some Clockwork Tangerine from Brewdog. 3 quid for a big bottle is decent. Tastes alright too.

Went to see the Pasadena Roof Orchestra. The guy fronting the band and acting MC asked for requests. A few favourites were shouted out, to which he replied "Well, we don't do requests so we're playing this."
    Made me smile anyway.

It was the best dam movie I've ever seen.

Hope that everyone who is alone today or suffering that little bit more than usual due to the time of year is managing to get through OK.
I only joined up on here after reading for many years and convinced myself that it was because I wanted to contribute a bit more and had a lot of time on my hands. Whilst that is true if I’m honest it’s been the stories, support and camaraderie in this thread in particular that urged me to join up.
Struggling a fair bit myself at the moment but some of what I have read has given me some strength - I won’t go into too much detail but knowing your feelings are not just yours and that depression is very much a real thing does actually help.
Merry Christmas fellow Rams! 3 points tomorrow will certainly help!

I've had the real pleasure of meeting Arthur on several occasions. He is an absolute first rate Gentleman. He told me some fabulous anecdotes about the time he worked for Robert Maxwell but point blankly refused to be in any way indiscrete; {Maxwell used to pay Arthur bonuses in the form of dozens of pairs of gentleman's socks from Harrods!}. I think Derby County for once were privileged to have had Arthur as manager {the players all referred to him as the Sarjeant Major} and I feel privileged and honoured to have met him. He always give people his time and shows people total respect. A true living legend. Spoke about his Derby players as if they were his own sons and visibly shed a tear when we talked about Rob Hindmarch. A wonderful man and true Derby County hero.

Let's start with the winners of best joke at this year's Edinburgh Festival. There's some crackers on here.
    1. "I'm not a fan of the new pound coin, but then again, I hate all change" - Ken Cheng
    2. "Trump's nothing like Hitler. There's no way he could write a book" - Frankie Boyle
    3. "I've given up asking rhetorical questions. What's the point?" - Alexei Sayle
    4. "I'm looking for the girl next door type. I'm just gonna keep moving house till I find her" - Lew Fitz
    5. "I like to imagine the guy who invented the umbrella was going to call it the 'brella'. But he hesitated" - Andy Field
    6. "Combine Harvesters. And you'll have a really big restaurant" - Mark Simmons
    7. "I'm rubbish with names. It's not my fault, it's a condition. There's a name for it..." - Jimeoin
    8. "I have two boys, 5 and 6. We're no good at naming things in our house" - Ed Byrne
    9. "I wasn't particularly close to my dad before he died... which was lucky, because he trod on a land mine" - Olaf Falafel
    10. "Whenever someone says, 'I don't believe in coincidences.' I say, 'Oh my God, me neither!"' - Alasdair Beckett-King

Far Cry games are all exactly the same. If you loved 3 and want more then get 4. The story in 4 is a little more coherent and the protagonist isn't quite so much of a jackass.
AC Constantinople is exactly the same as the Italian based games. Black Flag and Rogue break away from the normal AC formula by focusing on naval combat and exploration. AC 3 is a mix between the two.
Red Dead Redemption = Grand Theft Horse. The setting is interesting, the scenery is incredible, the music is outstanding, and the storyline is really good too. Get it.
I don't know much about the Batman games because comic book superheroes bore me to tears. I'd recommend Sleeping Dogs. Essentially it's a GTA clone, but it's a bloody good one. The main selling point is the beautifully realised Hong Kong setting and the fact that combat is focused on martial arts instead of gunplay.
