Duracell got a reaction from Day in Crossing
Crossing isn't just about delivery of the ball, it's about overloading the penalty area and getting in behind the defenders.
For the past two seasons, we've been terrible at committing players forward and forcing the opposition out of shape. Prime David Beckham's crossing would be useless if he's aiming at Sam Baldock marked by a rigid bank of four.

Such a Johnny Russell goal, that. He skips rather than runs with that long stride, arms gracefully flailing, stroking the ball with his left foot into the far corner. On a bad day, he was still an excellent defensive winger who seemed to lack imagination, but on a good day, there's few players I've seen in the modern era that I've enjoyed watching more. Brought back a lot of memories.

We're no different really from anyone else. That's not an excuse, but I think a lot of other clubs are understandably searching for extra reasons to dislike us. No surprise - we've completely alienated the rest of the league by bragging about spending loads of money, so no wonder many fans are reveling in the schadenfreude.
Completely agree with the sentiment though. Why trouble ourselves with Billy Sharp when our house is on fire?
Only thing I do find particularly strange is the flirting some of our fans have had with Rangers ever since we played them a few years back. Absolutely desperate for their attention and approval. Why were we signing sectarian Scottish football chants at Brentford away??? As bizarre as it is rotten.

It seems everybody in this forum agrees that the is vile and embarrassing behaviour at Bramall Lane by some Derby fans was unacceptable.
Of course a few won't really, but I highly doubt they will have the guts to say so in here.
A lot of people are growing to dislike us as much as Leeds were disliked in the 70s (and ever since tbf) and other clubs at various times like Millwall, Man U and Hope Valley Under-15s. Although the last one may be more personal tbf.
What Morris has been doing it entirely out of our control, but what those around us do, isn't.
For example, if a particular abusive chants start up, the majority could respond with something counter.
I don't mean Kumbaya, although that may very well work, or Imagine by John Lennon, although that too may work, but something like 'your're knobs and know you are etc'
Not that, clearly, that's lame, but something agreed on.
Plus, if fans en masse started filming the morons on their phones and the word had been put out that they'd be reporting to the club and/or Police it may help.
Obviously, I don't want anybody getting hurt, so be careful. And I'm happy to hold somebody's coat at the back if required.
    Back in Cornwall that is.
We have to make these people thoroughly unwelcome because whereas they may not care when they're high or drunk, they will be after and/or before.
What they are doing is often illegal, and in all seriousness, it is up to us to do something about it if it's to change.
I almost want to adopt Millwalls chant of 'Nobody likes us and we don't care' but I'd be lying, I do care and I'd like Derby to be admired and respected rather than despised and mocked.

Would it be fair to say that in this way of doing things, the Premier League would be like the NFL in terms of stature and comercialisation, while the EFL would be more like College Football, with the better atmosphere? Speaking as someone who knows next to nothing about American Football, btw.

Commentary in football is terrible, full stop. As is punditry.
I remember the presenters making a joke about Dion Dublin knowing nothing about North Macedonia at the Euros. Sorry? You're paid a lot of money to know what you're talking about, and have all week to do your research. There's a journalist somewhere in our country who's an expert on North Macedonia, who could tell the viewers something insightful that they don't know, but instead they have some clown who's sat on the sofa laughing and boasting about how little he knows.
Half the time when people criticise female commentators, my theory is it takes a change of voice to notice that commentators and pundits tell you nothing you don't already know and speak almost exclusively in cliches.
I don't know why this has become so acceptable in our sport - where experience in the game is the only thing that matters, regardless of your ability to communicate it to the viewer. If you watched the Tour de France and a former pro came out with "he's almost cycled TOO well there" you wouldn't accept it.
That said, in the Euros, the female pundit for ITV (name?) was the first co-commentator in years to actually offer insights into tactics I couldn't spot myself.

Weirdest thing about Marriott is there is a) an incredible amount of vitriol about the fact his career fizzled out and the general view that he was overrated and that b) an incredible amount of vitriol towards Lampard for not starting him in the playoff final, and that contributed to the final outcome.
How can he be both not good enough, and the most important player in the biggest match in recent history?

The big problem with Max is that it's a one-way street. He expects to be given room, but does not give it himself. It makes battling with him completely unpredictable, and I'm not surprised that Hamilton has decided the only way to do battle with him is to match the attitude.
Contrast that with Alonso, who's aggressive and gets his elbows out. So many drivers revel in battling with him, because although he's hard as nails, he is always fair and consistent.
Max is very clearly right up there with Alonso and Hamilton, but he's had the opportunity to refine his craft and make mistakes in junior formulae taken away from him. 23 is still absurdly young, younger than the average driver used to start their F1 career. He needs to learn when to back out. He needs a touch of Prost.

Morris' biggest failing is that he is a fan. He ran the club like a fan.
Didn't think rationally. Gambled on short-term success based on in-the-moment excitement.
My old man is usually a fairly logical and reasonable person, but he's unbearable when we lose. Or win. We lose, and he will pipe out the "this is the worst Derby side I have ever seen" line almost every time, win, and we're going up.
Pretty confident that if you gave my Dad a half a billion quid, he'd also have spaffed £200m, stormed into the dressing room on several occasions, and probably would have sacked Steve Mac another four times just to make sure.
This does not exonerate Morris. His lack of leadership in crisis will rightly draw a lot of criticism. He may be bowing out, but to do so with such a reluctance to admit mistakes or show any vulnerability or emotion to the fans and staff it's what's getting people upset.
Morris ran the club like a fan who was determined to play the game as he wished it to be, not the way it actually was.
