1 game in and people want rid!!! We are already down to bare bones, any money in from a sale will not go on new players. Not sure some fans actually understand the seriousness of the situation we are in. Beggars and choosers springs to mind

I'll start. For me it's criminal to see Sibbo on the bench. Heartbreaking to see Rooney squander our best talent for whatever reason. But let's hope we have enough to actually score some goals and get the win.

I can't believe this thread ever existed. Just let it sink in that without a takeover there will probably be no Derby County next season. Hide behind the EFL and covid all you like the facts are this situation has happened due to serious mismanagement at the top of this football club. Nobody else has control of the finances.

Looking ever more likely our team isn’t going to be the quality needed to be successful in this division through no fault of the players. Could I ask that anyone who intends on getting boozed up and starts groaning at the young lads every time they don’t go forwards/misplace a pass or start sarcastically cheering when we have a shot just stay in the pub?

This bunch of lads don’t deserve to be in the situation that they’ve been put in. They’ve been left woefully short for the rigours of a season in the most competitive division in Europe.

Call the club/ Mel/ Pearce all the names under the sun in the pub before hand but in the ground get behind the lads and let’s use the us against everyone mentality to try and be competitive.

Remember that our squad is weaker this season than last and we finished 4th bottom due to Weds’ point deduction last year. It could get pretty grim for us.

Sibley is ahead Whittaker without a doubt and I suspect will go further. But lets not pretend Whittaker didn't have talent; he was scoring for fun in the academy and there is a reason a club above us in the table decided to take him on. Whittaker will likely flourish when he physically matures in a couple years time.

He wouldn't be the first talented academy player shipped out under Rooney and he probably won't be the last either.
We are going to waste one of the most talented group of academy players coming through the club aren't we ?

None of the recent events have changed my opinion and whilst I don't think they are encouraging I can recognise that don't matter hugely in the grand scheme of things.
I'd sack him for results, style of play, questionable man management, seemingly lack of direction and lack of tactical nouse all off the back of last season. 99/100 managers who go through the run he did with what he had available to him do not get a second chance and are out of the door.
But he will have at an absolute minimum the amount of time from now till we get taken over and likely a little bit of time beyond that to turn things around. Can he do it ? I have real doubts but we shall see.

Sibley is average right now. He has potential, but there are huge gaps in his game and he does go missing. I don't think even the most ardent Sibley fanboy would have an issue admitting that. What I really struggle with though, is the same people who are fine with leaving out Sibley because he's a bit raw are advocating replacing him with Ravel Morrison. A 28 year old who only has marginally more Championship experience than Sibley. A 28 year old who still gets talked about in terms of his "potential" rather than any achievements. It's utterly insane. Not to mention if we develop Sibley (fat chance under Wayne) he's a good asset at 19. We stand to gain far less (duck all in fact) by developing a 28 year old who leaves every single club he sits on the bench for on a free or has his contract cancelled.

    You couldn't make it up, for all the youngster here are his qualifications;
Ridsdale's sports consultancy firm WH Sports Group Limited, which provided advice to football clubs from 2003, failed in 2009 with debts of more than £475,000. Ridsale was found to have diverted payments by football clubs totalling £347,000, due to the company, into his personal bank account. In October 2012, he was disqualified as a company director until April 2020 after an inquiry by the Insolvency Service. His wife Sophie Ridsdale was likewise banned from acting as a director of any company until 2016.[22]

I sympathise with him, he's been taken advantage of for sure. But how many more times does he have to be put through the ringer before he takes himself out of these situations? Until he gets a bit of self control I'm not sure he should really be manager of a football club.
My views are biased as I'm just not arsed about him being our manager, I'm just fed up. Things like this are easily avoidable if you act like a rational person IMO.

Abu Dhabi Ram reacted to Heisenberg in When support is needed most
As @Rammy03said, as long as the players are putting in maximum effort win, lose or draw they’ll always have support from the stands. It’s the people at the top who I, like many, are sick to the stomach with.
I’m by no means Wayne Rooney’s biggest fan, and ultimately don’t think he’ll be the man to take this club forward in the long term, but the people above him are giving him absolutely no chance of succeeding in the job.
WR said in his post-match interview/presser after the Sheffield Wednesday game that circumstances HAD to change from that evening onwards. Two months on, we’re in the exact same position. You could argue that it’s even worse, as the squad is even more depleted since the loanees returned to their parents club and with others being released.
How has this been allowed to continue?
After scraping survival by the skin of our teeth the season before, we’re now heading into an Championship season with no recognised central defenders contracted to the club.
We’re a football club that’s in complete freefall and theres no signs coming out of the club that will end any time soon. MM and SP deserve every bit of criticism (not abuse, let’s make that clear) heading their way. It’s shocking management and the sooner they both move on, only then will this club move in the right direction.

I know it's stupid to judge things based on one pre-season game but parts of this rant have been left over from last season.
I've just realised there was a time last season when we had three people at the club vastly more qualified and suitable for the manager role than Rooney. Mac, Wassall and even Bowyer. This club is ridiculous. It's obvious Rooney is un-sackable until we have a new owner.
A decent or at least experienced manager, someone with a history of using low quality players at the bottom end of the division would at least give us more of a chance. To me it looks like Rooney is more interested in getting better as a manager for his individual benefit. Him trying to be the one who finally gets the best out of Morrison is a prime example of this. He's not in it for the money so why would he be bothered doing the boring stuff that would benefit the club? He clearly isn't willing to listen to advice from more experienced people after the way he banished Mac, instead he just surrounds himself with yes men. He's un-sackable and I think he knows it.
If we're accepting we're going to be in a relegation battle next season and we have low quality players we should do what other clubs in this situation do, be less of a footballing side, play more direct, simple etc. Like Burnley have been doing for years in the PL. Instead it just feels like we're part of Rooney's Football Manager career.
I'd have a lot of respect for him if he would step aside without asking for a pay-off (he doesn't need the money), and just let someone with relegation experience come in to give us some sort of chance.

I Cancelled mine too, but I think many factors add up to my decision.
I really like the concept and the quality of RTV, but so many games are taken for sky, or even other international broadcasters, that the price really isn’t worth it for two games a month.
Furthermore, the Saturday 3pm kick offs are at 7pm at night here(the weekends are Friday and Saturday).  The midweek games are therefore 11:45pm kick offs. Sunday lunchtime ko I can’t watch as I am still at work. Last season watching Derby left me angry frustrated and tired, was it worth it at these times?  Not really!
Finally, my dwindling enthusiasm for DCFC, I blame this on both the club and that vindictive organization called the EFL. It is just not enjoyable at the moment as the football is a sideshow to the politics.
