I never said all of those teams would automatically improve. I said they either will likely be contenders again or could improve on recent showings.
Of course, we could improve too. 45% of our squad for the tournament was under 25. We do have exciting talent that could grow and learn from this experience.
Like I said, if we change coach, it could make all the difference between heartbreak in the latter stages and actually winning a trophy.
Look at that game yesterday. It was almost a mirror image of Croatia in Moscow. Does it feel like we have learnt anything from three years ago?

On the evidence of what we have seen this tournament, I am not so sure if we stick with Southgate.
Our standout performance was against a very poor Ukraine. Most other games we had a slight edge, if any. It was a tournament of moments for us, rather than convincing performances.
Time will tell, but I think it will take another coach to really get us putting it all together.

At the risk of instigating an unintentional DDoS attack, I thought some of you might be interested in this as a somewhat productive way of channelling dissatisfaction with the EFL

Actually the decision said if they had decided we had got a competitive advantage the points deduction would have been to the 2020/21 season. Regardless if it relegated us or not.

This doesn't pass the giggle test if you go back and look at the statement the club issued after losing the appeal. Talk about selective...
Combative may not be the word. Childish petulance may be a better description. Percy's article about the 'bitter feud' is driven by the club's response to the EFL statement. It is not what we want, because it will just perpetuate the attacks on us, it will guarantee that the EFL seeks the maximum penalty  
The on going fighting with the EFL is damaging the club, we can all see that. Why are people talking about suing them ? 

I really don’t see why the EFL are a disgrace, we “bent” the rules, I think we would all agree we broke a number of rules. Therefore we should take whatever punishment they want to dish out. I think only one party is a disgrace and it’s Derby County Football Club. 

The statement from the club is not combative and is certainly not lunacy, if anything it is factual and restrained.
