I wouldn't be offering 4 year contracts full stop.   Derby in L1 it would be hard not to be in or around the play offs so that wasn't such a risk but in thve championship it's not ridiculous to suggest we might be in a relegation fight next season and you really don't want changing manager to be unaffordable.
The only way Warne gets poached is if he isn't happy at Derby and takes a sideways or downwards step - if he did feel that way then it would probably be best  for him and us to part ways anyway.

    Newcastle 0 Derby County 1, 13 September 1969.
Roy McFarland scored the winner to shut up the Geordies around us yelling about Jimmy Smith.
The significance of the game was that, for the first time in my lifetime, Derby County went top of Division 1 that day.
The following week, we thrashed Tottenham 5-0 at Derby in front of the biggest crowd ever at the Baseball Ground. Everyone of a certain age remembers that game, but the Newcastle one sticks in my mind just as much.

October 21 1961.  Derby 2 Liverpool 0.   Mick Hopkinson from 60 yards !! (well it seemed like it from the 'boys' enclosure !!) and Bill Curry. 27000+ at the BBG. Ron Yeats putting Bill Curry into the railings in frustration.
September 24th 1966.  Derby 4 Huddersfield 3  Kevin Hectors home debut. Boy was that some debut !! Despite having 4 opposition trying to mark him he still managed to score and created the space for Durban to score 3. Little did we know then what the next 10 years would hold !!
November 1st 1969.  Derby 4 Liverpool 0. Can still see Hector and O'Hare bearing down on Lawrence in goal at the Ossie End for the fourth goal. 40993 at the BBG.
January 23rd 1971.  Derby 2 Wolves 1.  FA Cup 4th round. 40000+ at the BBG. 6" of mud and John O'Hare chesting in, in the 90th minute !!
Need I go on. Oh those memories.

Scoring one of the greatest Derby goals of all time in the process....
I have a fondness for the 4-0 win over Southampton in the PL under TBE. 0-0 with about 15 minutes left and then the floodgates opened. Eranio, Baiano, Wanchope and Carsley netting. The football we played in that spell was simply sublime.

I won't miss Round 1 of the FA Cup, and I won't miss the Ronald McDonald Cup or whatever the f*** it's calling itself now - playing against U21 teams was just insult added to injury.

I don't mean any offence by this, but that just seems such a miserable and sad outlook to have on it. As a football fan of a normal (I'm hesitant to call Derby normal) club who no one in their right mind would glory support, you seldom get anything to ever celebrate. You rarely achieve a thing. If you can't enjoy it, specifically when we have gone through what we have, what's the actual point in it all?

Whoa.  I'm guessing you've not been around as long as some of us (pensioner age).  IMHO, whilst a great achievement, this is nowhere near the heydays of Clough & Taylor or Dave McKay.  I was there for both and our subsequent slide in Div 3.  Now, they were great seasons and this one is not in the same league (see what I did there?).
Still, onwards and upwards.  I hope that through my son and grandson, my family will live to see the rise to the top again, but I fear I won't!  Really looking forward to the Summer now, as it will be full of transfer gossip and smart tweets from the Admin team!  COYR!!🍺🐏

I want to give some credit to the Carlisle fans, too. Being from an extremity of the country, albeit the complete other end, I understand that it can be hard to travel to watch your team often.
I thought their fans were great, even after the pitch invasion and their players quickly dashed off the pitch, they still stayed there singing away and I noticed quite a few of our fans on the pitch applauding that.
They weren’t a bad side either, certainly better than their points and position suggest. They played some decent stuff and added to what was a great day all round.
The only downside is that there were probably some fans who could’ve got tickets but missed out because there were some empty seats in their end. I get it’s hard with the segregation, but I thought just over 31,000 was a little disappointing given how many wanted to be there.

The boy did what was right for derby county , very good offer , money came in that allowed us to bring in vital cogs and he stayed on loan , busting a gut to get us up , so fitting he smashed that early goal in nearly busting the net ,,, the boy is a hero on a day for hero’s ,

Patrick Rams reacted to B4’s Sister in B4 - for ever a Ram 🐏
B4 was Daniel Beavis. A lifelong DCFC supporter who died suddenly in November, just hours after attending the Crewe away match. He was only 38 and had held a season ticket for almost 30 years. B4 was his username on this forum where he was well know for his unique take on all things DCFC and his kindness to others. Despite the situation of the club or inconsistency of results, he was unbelievably positive. Dan had learning difficulties and despite what he may have typed on here at times, he was actually quite vulnerable and his world was quite small. His whole world revolved around his beloved Derby County. His death has been a shock to us but his passion and love for DCFC has left an effect on many who knew him, in person or virtually. He was also my brother.

Agree 100%! I'm old enough to remember 1986 and scraping out of the third division v Rotherham.. I would never in my wildest dreams believe that we were going to smash the league above and get a second successive promotion. And so next season I fully expect us to be in with a chance of something similar. Am I bonkers thinking that? Probably!

    Wow!
I make it 6,104 days since we last stepped onto a pitch as a newly promoted team. That's a fair old whack. The wait is over my fellow ovine botherers. We've gone through the last 10 games averaging 2.3 PPG and top of the form table and to my mind, it was never in doubt.
One for the fans after all the grinding misery of the last 3 years, one for our dearly departed, but never to be forgotten B4, one for Clowes who wagered a sizeable portion of the Clowes family net worth to save this wonderful club and one for Warne and his merry band of men.

watching the QPR game last night magnified the job we have to be able to compete in the Championship
QPR did play well on the night and of our current squad i believe only 2 would get in there starting 11 Cash and Adams and possibly Nelson and QPR are bottom 6 side
Massive job to get the right players and although PW has done a good job getting us promoted the nest step is still a big worry IMO
Warne is a L1 specialist and brought in to get us out of L1 , he isn't though a championship specialist so will be a real challenge
I will get right behind the team as always but I still think we have a lot to improve on and that's not going to be easy
Billy Davies was no more than a Championship manager really and that showed in the prem, I hope Paul Warne can change our style a bit and surprise a few but time will tell but for now lets just enjoy the promotion party today as Warne said himself enjoy the good moments in football when they do arrive
have a great day today all Rams fans 👏
